Makeup artists have all kinds of tricks up their sleeves, and I always love uncovering their little secrets and sharing them with you. Makeup is a great way to create the illusion of having wider eyes, higher cheekbones, fuller lips, and arched brows. For those of you with slender, almond-shaped eyes who want to create a wider and brighter look, here's what you'll need:
- bone-colored eye shadow
- darker-colored crease shadow
- white or champagne cream shadow
- tweezers
- curling mascara
- black or deep-brown eyeliner
- white eyeliner

- Step 1: Examine your eyebrows and pluck away any stray hairs that prevent them from looking tidy. Also, if you thin out your brows a little bit, you will create more space on your eyelid, which will make that area look larger.
- Step 2: Apply a pale-neutral base color to your entire eyelid, from your lashes to your brows. The idea is that light shades brighten the eye. Using too many dark colors will only make eyes look smaller. Next, shade the outer corner of the lid and the crease with your darker color and blend well using a back-and-forth motion.
- Step 3: Dab a little of your white- or champagne-colored cream shadow under the brow bone and blend. Add a touch more to the the center of the lid and watch how your eyes will instantly brighten up.
- Step 4: Use the dark eyeliner (or simply wet your crease color) and line your upper eyelash line, making sure to extend the line just past the outer corner of your eye. Line your lower lashes with a lighter touch and follow by smudging both of the lines with a Q-tip or brush to soften the look. Next, use a white- or cream-colored eyeliner along the inner rims of your eyes.
- Step 5: Curl your eyelashes and then apply two coats of curling mascara to your top lashes only. Concentrate the mascara in the middle and the outer corners of the eye using upward strokes.

My aren't tiny but they aren't huge either. And I really use a lot fo these tricks when I want them to pop out more!
1I have "come hither" eyes or bedroom eyes. They're also almond shaped. I've been told by people to OPEN my eyes, but that's the way they are.
2I have almond shaped eyes, will try this trick out.
3i have the distinction of having small asian eyes - these are great tips! i definitely can recommend using lighter colors to make my eyes appear bigger.
4I do this when I'm going for the wide-eyed, totally awake look (morning lectures, mainly) even though my eyes aren't particularly small. They definitely do the trick!

7These are great tips to use when you want to put that full-on effort into the look. For when you haven't the time, I'd definitely say that the most important thing to do is curl your lashes and use a good curling mascara that will set the curl. It works wonders especially on monolidded Asian eyes

13I have small eyes also, and have tried everything to try and open 'em up a bit. I like these tips, but it seems like alot of shadow for such a tiny eyelid!
14I don't have small eyes at all. But, I like my eyes to look as big as possible, so I'm glad to hear I've been applying my eye makeup the right way.
(btw., I call the look Doe eyes..it's great for that innocent or wide awake
refreshed look.) Oh, a lot of time I skip the white eyeliner part, though.
15i am a huge fan of using eyeshadow as eyeliner. it gives is a softer look. also, i find that sometimes the white is too much next to my pale pale skin, but a gold pencil, or a pinkish beigish pencil has a similar effect.
oh, and another great tip (i learned this when i was doing theater makeup) is to put a red dot on either side of your nose - parallel to where your inner eye ends. since i dont particularly like walking around with two tiny red dots, i modify this for everyday life by putting a bit of a pink highlighter in that area. it definitely helps.
