We'll get to the hair in a sec, but first let's take a moment to appreciate the gorgeous, dewy skin on this model backstage at the Custo Barcelona show. Her braids remind me of cornrows (or over-braids), only they don't start at the scalp. I really like how there is a few inches of shiny smooth hair and then about a dozen or so individual braids flowing around the head. What do you think of this modern cornrow look?

not a fan of the hair... but the clothes were AMAZING!!!! one of my favorites. such an amazing use of pattern.
Yeah um...ew!
I've never been a fan of braids.
I like old school ones, but not the modern ones.
NO.
Nasty--she looks like that uni-brow chick from Dodgeball. She needs her brows waxed and the hair is hideous.
I am undecided, mostly because I can't see enough of them to make an informed decision. Generally speaking I love braids, especially braids with a milkmaid vibe, which I think these could have if there weren't more than two. I'd like them more, I think, if there were only two, starting in front of the ears as they do, and then looped around the back.
nothing modern about them. this hairstyle has been around for centuries. my mother used to do my hair like this (but only when i was going to bed lol).
Reminds me of what I used to do when I wanted crimpy hair when I was younger...
I agree aimeeb... I used to do this to my hair when I was like, 11. Not a good look on an adult.
No. She looks like a preschooler.
it looks childish, i would never go in public with that.
Is that what it looked like on the runway? Could they have braided her hair first for texture, then undid the braids and teased or tousled the hair?
i like it. it's fun. and the model is probably 14 to 16 years old. i don't think she needs to worry about looking like an adult. besides, the runway is about fantasy - especially for a brand like custo barcelona.
the only thing I would add is a scrunchy.
Try to imagine at least 18 different synonyms for "stupid".
That's how her hair looks.
My girlfriends and I did that at sleepovers!
No way girls, I'm diggin it. I think it could've also looked cool to somehow combine all the braids into some big bun, but what do I know. And you're right bizzybee, she's super young so it suits her well.
Those are not cornrows. The name cornrow comes from hair being braided so evenly along the scalp that they look like planted rows of corn. What I'm looking at are big braids.
And no they are not fashion forward, she looks like she's doing a deep conditioning treatment.
Are you kidding me it looks unfinished for an adult...maybe can pass for a child's hairstyle.
Belladande - said what I was going to say - those are regular old braids not cornrows. Cornrows are braided tightly on the scalp first then extend down.
This hairstyle even makes that otherwise stunning model look outdated.
It might've worked for the runway, but I don't like it. I would never wear my hair out in public like that. But to be honest, what exactly makes these braids cornrows? It doesn't appear they share any similarity to actual cornrows except for the fact that they're both braided.
I think it is very cute. If my hair were still long, I'd give it a go.
i'm all for funky hairdos at events like this but this is not for me. maybe it's just the model and her poorly shaped eyebrows.
Nope
I love Custo Barcelona, so I'm loathe to speak ill of them. Still wouldn't now, though, because god, what runway hair is transferable to reality anyway? It's all wild, it's all crazy, and at least this style doesn't make models as young as she is look trampy.
