Last year, MAC released a Barbie-themed makeup collection. It's been out of stores since last spring, but a few pieces are available on eBay.
But before the MAC collaboration, Barbie had her own line of cosmetics for little girls. Believe it or not, I had no interest in playing with the color cosmetics, but I remember that vial of Barbie "perfume" well. It was mostly water, but I felt very grown-up whenever I splashed it on.
So check out this early-'80s clip. Apparently, playing with toy cosmetics makes young Erin Fetherston lookalikes talk like Upper East Side dowagers. And don't blame me if the jingle gets stuck in your head.

Yea I remember that stuff...
1Hmmmm I can't say I remember this...
2I think I remember it.
3I had the perfume! I remember loving it so much, but the bottle was small and didn't last long.
4I used to get play makeup...can't remember if it was Barbie brand or not. All I remember is that I NEVER got to use the powder because I ALWAYS tried to open it myself. It had a plastic cover over the white powder that was hard for me to get off and I simply could not wait 30 minutes for my parents to open it. Inevitably, I would yank it off and the powder would end up in my lap and on the floor...thus never allowing me to truly enjoy my makeup...and I was left with the funny smelling lipsticks. XD
5Too funny, Daisie!
My mom didn't like the idea of me playing with makeup at a young age (and I can't say I blame her) so I had only the perfume, like Swen. Sounds like part of the reason my mom wasn't into the "makeup" was that it was a potential mess! Your poor parents.
6I think I'm a bit younger than you, Bella, but I vividly remember having a "Pretty Perfume Barbie"!
I also vividly remember spilling the perfume ALL OVER my bedroom, and I vividly remember our ENTIRE house REEKING of the perfume for weeks!
7Oh, now I feel old! Was that Barbie sold in the States?
8I probably owned this.
I was definitely playing with Barbies AND makeup in the early 80s. My sister and I used to smear makeup all over those Barbie heads and give them "makeovers". Haha.
9I TOTALLY remember that Perfume Barbie too! I think it came out in the later 80s.
My favorite Barbies were always Peaches n' Cream Barbie and Malibu Barbie. Loved them.
10I had the Barbie perfume factory. Anyone old enough to remember that? Strawberry and roses was my signature fragrance in second grade!
11This is too old for me... I wasn't alive during this phase of barbie
12I'm too young to remember this, but my older sister had Barbie nail polish, and I remember that you could peel it off your nails instead of using remover. Haha.
13I was born in the mid 80's and don't remember that Barbie make up, but do any of you guys remember Tinkerbell Brand make up? My parents wouldn't let me have it as a kid, but I always used my friends'.
14I was born in 1970 and had about as many Barbie things as one girl could have. In about 79 they came out with a perfume maker. A big machine contraption where you could create your own scents and smell like Barb. I loved that thing and used it until the perfume sticks dried out.
15oh no! I remember I had a a set, and I took the perfume bottle with me EVERYWHERE. Problem was, I was turning into a tomboy of sorts, so I'd take it on outdoor adventures, and one day I dropped the bottle right into a rotten log and it was lost forever! I was so sad that night! haha
16I remember having Pretty Perfume Barbie too! Yea that thing wasnt the best smelling stuff out there but I loved it.
