When you all went wild for that gorgeous hair seen on Sarah Michelle Gellar at The Air I Breathe premiere, I got in touch with Mara Roszak, the stylist who created the look for Sarah. Mara, who has been styling celebrities since she was 17, has worked with other famous women including Halle Berry and Elisha Cuthbert. She predicts that "fresh skin, and fresh natural textured hair with pops of color" will be hot for Spring.
For Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mara was going for a bohemian look, inspired by Sarah's stunning turquoise gown.
To learn how you can recreate this look at home, read more.
- STEP 1: Spray clean, wet hair with a texturizing styling spray. Mara used Bumble and bumble Surf Spray.
- STEP 2: Blow-dry hair gently and loosely, encouraging any natural curl or wave to form. No need for a pin-straight blowout for this look.
- STEP 3: Part hair on the side and start twisting in the direction away from your face. Start at the top front of the head and add more hair from each side of the existing hair as you twist back, until all the hair in front of your ear is pulled back. Connect the twists in the back of the head, and then the remaining hair can be pulled up into a messy twisted bun.
- STEP 4: Finish off the look with a light hold hairspray. Mara used Renee Furterer hair spray to set Sarah's hair.

Cute!
1I love this look! I'm thinking of wearing my hair like this for my college ball in a few months...
2I love how that looks! I have a thing for messy, beach-y hair
3Has anybody used the bumble and bumble spray? It has mixed reviews on amazon.
4I loved this look, it's so cute and unique.
5Very cute.
6I love this look!
7she looks stunning...i love SMG.
8I love it!! she is adorable anyway
9So Cute!
10I love it and I love her. Who doesn't right?
11Love the 'do and the lipcolor! Sexy
12Perfection!
13Hot, very innovative. I like how her highlights accentuate the 'do.
14wow, i thought it was a lot more complicated than that. i cant wait to try this out
15I used to use the Bumble & Bumble all of the time - my hair was short and corporate-as-close-to-punk-as-you-can-really-go-and-still-get-promoted. Worked well for that look. Can also say that just a touch would be good for adding texture needed to keep this look in place.
16Very very cute!
17i LOVE this look, but i'm afraid my fine hair wouldn't make a messy enough bun in the back....
18its a really cute hairstyle.
19love it.
SMG is FAB!
20gorgeous! I love the dress she's wearing in that photo.
21Brittanybe- I love the bumble and bumble surf spray! I have naturally wavy hair and spray it on damp hair (mostly in the summer for beachy hair) and just let it air dry. It adds a little texture and definitely helps de-frizz.
22Love SMG and her hair looks amazing. It wouldnt look look on me I have a big head.
23Awww, really cute!
24That is so adorable!
25I love this look! The hair, makeup, dress...I'm also glad she's making movies again.
26I think SMG looks gorgeous - but that is OBVIOUSLY a braid in her hair, not just "twisting and adding more pieces!"
27really cute look...but theres no way im going to be able to do this..
28I love it! This is such a cute look! I'll get my girlfriend to help me do this!
29I love her style, and this look is awesome!
30So pretty! Thanks for the tips Bella!
31This is one of my favorite looks EVER!! I wore my hair like this when I was a kid, but my mom had done it for me...now I'll try to do it for myself. Thanks Bella
!
32dcstar - I think it is twist and add, twist and add.
I used to do a twist kind of style for updos and it looked something like this (but not as fabulous).
I wonder what the back looks like?
33I love this. I would like a good beach spray. Any suggestions??
34I just love it!! I love this look of romantic antiquity. I have always longed for this type of look but was afraid to look nuts. How wonderful that it is now in vogue!
35I wonder what the other side of her head looks like...and from the back...I love this look too, but it seems difficult to recreate.
36I'll be trying this tonight!
