We can now officially add Shakira to the constantly growing list of celebrities jumping into the beauty arena. WWD reports that she has accepted a deal with Barcelona-based Puig Beauty & Fashion Group to design a line of beauty, fragrance, and personal care products. Shakira said that she is excited to use her creativity in a different medium, and hopes that her line will help "personal care and beauty... be effortless and accessible for everyone."
I like Shakira a lot (how can you not love an international superstar who audits a Western Civ class at UCLA?) but I'm not sure how this endeavor will work out. I'm a little on the fence with the recent proliferation of celebrity and fashion designer-inspired beauty products. What do you think of Shakira's latest collaboration?

2I love Shakira, but I'm with you about being on the fence on celeb- or designer-licensed beauty products. Then again, I'm real slow to try new products anyway.
3I'm really sick of celebrities lending their name to anything from tampons to jewelry. There are enough great (and not so great) makeup lines out there. If you're going to reinvent to wheel, at least do it because you have a superior product and not just a recognizable face.

8I have a friend who works at Puig and she told me about this, I don't reall know what to say. She is one pretty lady, but I'm a little sick of all those celebrity lines.

13Sarasonne-I was exaggerating, although I'm sure it will happen! I highly doubt celebrities actually use one tenth of the products they endorse.
14It's Amy Winehouse. She's endorsing a brand of tampons. Not sure which ones.
