I love to check out the new and exciting product amenities that hotels have to offer, but using them is a whole different story. Chancing dry, brittle hair is a risk I don't often take. That's why I always bring along airline-approved bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and even a body lotion with me. I do, however, love to load up on the free nail files and shower caps (admit it, you know you do too). How about you? Do you pack your own hair products when you travel?

I always bring my own JUST IN CASE. I mean, sometimes those ones the hotels give you are so cheap and do nothing but knot my hair up!
1I ALWAYS bring my own. I'm stubborn about it.
2I always do. Being a poor grad student, I'm always either at a budget hotel, or a friend's apartment. I have fine, curly hair and don't feel comfortable using just anything to it. Either I sample my friend's products, or I stick to my own.
But I bring home the free samples for my boyfriend, who isn't so picky!
3Always always. I am way too picky to use the stuff at hotels.
4I hate to be an "eco-nag" but if people just brought their own products and or atleast left the ones they werent planning on using, so much less plastic would be wasted. think about it, if they change those almost every day... and people take them home then end up just throwing them out... i know it's free and all, but think about it next time u have the chance. if u have mouth wash at home, do you really need to take the tiny one time bottle at the hotel?
5ok i'm done!
ALWAYS.
I never use the hotel shampoos/conditioners.
6I always take my own, because hotel stuff is normally really bad, unless you stay at ritzy places, which I don't. (Generally it'll be a hostel or with a friend.) And my hair is fragile enough as it is - it's waist length, and I can't risk using something awful on it.
7I bring my own but I like to use the hotel brand and mix it in my own it always make my hair bouncy. FOr some odd reason even cheap shampoo makes my hair looks nice I dont have problem with brittle hair or knots. I never get knots
8Absolutely, I don't like using cheap hair products.
9Yes, the things in the hotels
10are pretty bad, and by the way
Ur_mom, that's interesting, never tough
about that
Yes, all the time. Once I even ran to the drugstore next door to get small sizes of my hair stuff so I wouldn't have to use the hotel stuff.
Although a lot of hotels have begun using more high end products, so we'll see.
11Always bring my own just in case. I have family that travels a lot, they bring home the minis to give away (homeless shelters, red cross, etc...).
12Absolutely. The stuff in the hotels either dries my hair out or makes it oilier than ever.
But usually we're at my in-laws and I feel bad using my MIL's stuff - better to stick with my own, especially since I have longer hair.
13I always bring my own, you never know that the quality is going to be.
14I always bring my own no matter where I'm going. For some reason, most hotel shampoos seem to just dry my hair out. Bleh.
15I never use the samples or bring them home with me. I'm extremely picky about my products and I won't use just anything! Plus, a lot of the lotions and soaps that they have cause my skin to react, which is just icky
And I agree with ur_momm, I think it's wasteful to use them if
you're just going to throw them out later.
16ALWAYS! I just can't use the hotel's product.
17Always!
18Always! You never know what you are going to get at the hotel. Luckily at my recent stay at The Beverly Hilton, they give you L'Occitane which was awesome!
19I thought that hotels only offered mini shampoo bottles only in case you forgot your own stuff. I would never use them though, it would dry out my hair/body too much!
20Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised when hotels provide Aveda products, but I always bring my own just in case.
21depends on the hotel. If I stay at the Four Seasons you better belive I am not bringing my own because mmm Bulgari smells so nice BUT when I go to my Holiday Inn (Say What!) I have to bring my own.
22I always bring my own products. FYI the Palace Resorts (in Mexico and elsewhere) use Biosilk products. Best surprise ever!
23I second bluecanary's idea. My church collects mini bottles for homeless shelters.
24I UPS my luggage to my destination, so I bring full-size bottles of my toiletries. I do always check the free goodies provided by the hotel, but if it's any less than $150-200 a night, they're generally crap. I use crystal nail files because they're gentler on nails, and I use a sonicare toothbrush, etc. Nothing the hotel gives is usually worth anything to me. Although, I do like shower caps!
25I always, always bring my own. I'm very picky, I don't like using the cheap stuff because my hair ends up dry and tangled. Some of the hotel stuff doesn't smell very good either.
26For long trips, I bring my own. For shorter trips, I just stick to the shampoo & conditioner provided by the hotel. But I always make sure I have my own leave-in conditioner (Sebastian Potion 9, etc.) to tame any naughtiness.
27This is sorta weird, but I occasionally use a combo of both my personal shampoo and the hotel's
28Almost always
29I never travel with out my own hair care. You can't trust my hair to any old stuff.
30Always. Lately, I've just been toting my good conditioner. I generally stay @ nice hotels that provide decent products. For my trip next week to NYC, our hotel provide AVEDA products. I have very thick, long curly hair that needs extra moisture and hotel brands just dry my ringlets out besides stripping color.
31always
32I ALWAYS bring my own...unless I'm staying at a Hyatt - their Hyatt SPA products are wonderful.
33I bring my own, except when I stay at Hotel Monaco. They have Aveda products, and I love adding to my growing collection!!!
34I never use hotel's products. They can keep it
But I don't bring my own either.
Usually my hotel stays are when Im in Europe. I usually go out and buy the products I need. I've never been disappointed and it allows me to be introduced to some high end lines that I
wouldnt be able to find here in North America. Works out great!!
35if i travel bacxk home i'll use my mum's products (she uses more expensive stuff). if somewhere i have no idea what's waiting for me - my own stuff all the way, down to slippers
