When I saw this new eye shadow palette called Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips, I recognized it right away; it was inspired by last summer's Bobbi Brown Surf and Sand Eye Palette.
Since the colors are sexy, shimmery and perfect for spring, I thought I'd highlight the similarities and differences of these seemingly similar items.
| Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips | Bobbi Brown Surf & Sand Palette | Advantage? | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Colors | Contains sandy tones, blues and grays. |
Contains sandy tones, blues and sea-greens. |
Physician's Formula is more versatile. You can wet the dark gray and also use it as a liner. |
| Texture | Pigments are subtle, so you need more product to see results. | High pigmented silky soft color that blends easily. | Bobbi Brown. A little goes a long way. |
| Packaging | Opens vertically and comes with a brush | Opens horizontally; no brush | Physician's Formula saves you money, plus you get a shadow brush. |
| Availability | Available online now for Spring 2008. | It was limited-edition for last summer, but you can still score plenty online. | Physician's Formula, if only because it's easier to track down. |
| PRICE | $9.95 | $42 | Buying the drugstore brand saves you oodles. |

I love the colors, I'll be picking that up at Walgreens
1Beautiful colors!
2Love Love Love this!
3I saw this in the purple and brown shades at walgreens. I was considering buying it - haven't decided yet.
4I wish this was available where I live.
5I have this in both the formula for brown eyes (browns and pinks) as well as this blue one above. I have really been shocked with how much I like them, since I generally don't use drugstore brands for anything (except Cetaphil). It is really sheer so you do have to pile it on in comparison to highly pigmented brands, but it stays all day and looks great. I've actually been reaching for these more than my general Stila/Smashbox/MAC/Sue Devitt shadows.. in fact, I am wearing shadows from the picture pallet above right now.
6I blogged about these Physician's Formula shadow sets a couple of weeks ago! I bought the Green Eyes set and love it.

I also have the Bobbi Brown Sandwash Eye Palette, and yes, it's a better product but it was much more expensive!
7Julieulie, do you have the liners too for brown eyes or just the shadow. I am interested in updating my look with eye shadow and was thinking of giving this a try.

9Bellaressa, I only have the shimmer strip eyeshadows pictured above, although the darker shades can be applied as eyeliner. It's the only Physician's Formula product I own, so I can't vouch for the liners.
10Cute! I was considering the Bobbi Brown palette, but decided against it as I'd probably not wear the colors very often. But I could definitely justify spending $10 for a similar palette... if, that is, I could get over my whole "drugstore makeup" phobia. We shall see...
11I'm kind of scratching my head here. After two stories on fakes sold on ebay, why is Bellasugar providing links?
12I was just looking at this at walmart(big spender I know) and I was considering getting it but I wasn't sure. I've always gotten the Almay sets for blue eyes and I wanted to try something different. Thank you for doing this post! Just in time
13Maybe I'll check out the PF one sometime.
14Thanks, julieulie.
15belladande, the Physician's Formula pallets and the Bobbi Brown pallet are similar to each other but not counterfeits or fakes. They're just similar products both made by reputable brands, however, with a big price differential.
