History is repeating itself once again with the return of the pale white nail. But this time around instead of being ultra opaque or iridescent, the colors are less intense and more sheer. Just the other night at the Sleepwalking movie screening, I noticed the feminine fingertips of Charlize Theron, Tinsley Mortimer and Beth Ostrosky. Here are two sheer white nail shades I think you'll really get into for spring.
White Satin by Chanel ($19) is a limited-edition shade of glossy white. The first coat is very sheer, but you can layer it to create a more potent polish. And if you're into french manicures, one coat looks beautiful over the white tips.
Barielle Nail Shades in Sensitive ($8) is sheer shell white color that has a high shine finish and claims to be salon-strength. Also, it's tolulene free — awesome.
In addition, Zoya also has a new white shade out for spring called Purity, but from what I understand it's heavier and more opaque than it is sheer.

I bought a similar shade from ELF for only $1.00. It looks exactly like these and it last a few days without chipping. I love this sheer look, reminds me a lot of summer.
1i tried white polish once, but it was opaque and i didn't like it. maybe the sheer would look better on me? i love it on charlize!
2I like this trend a lot more than turquoise.
3i bought zoya's purity last summer ... it is more opaque.. i really like it ... even though it kind of looks like white out.
4I am convinced white nail polish would look dingy on me within hours. I'd probably get something terribly staining (mustard, vinegar, etc) on them and that would be the end of that.

6This isn't related...but Tinsley Mortimer is such a camera wh*re. She just "happened" to be be getting her nails done next to the morgue where Heath Ledger's body was being kept while they were moving it.
7I'm curious as to which comes first: the color trend, or the Chanel polish? It seems like color trends always become huge Chanel best-sellers.
8coincidentally i'm wearing white WHITE nailpolish now. i was thinking of giving sheer white a try with a hint of gold in it, orly brand.. but need to actually BUY it.
9These are gorgeous, sheer, and pretty! I would DEFINITELY take these over the turquoise anyday and can wear it to the office, out, etc. Love it!
10White nail polish is the only color I wear. I'm pretty pale, so I don't like bright colors on my nails.
In high school girls would be like, oh id never wear white nail polish. Well its not their nails lol. High school girls I tell ya.

15Tom Cruise forces Katy Holmes to look more and more like him everyday...but she apparently will do anything for fame and fortune...he should come out of the closet....everybody in the industry knows and his movies flop...she surely knows she'll never be turned into a Nicole Kidman...Holmes has to buy her style....the grass isn't always greener. But I guess it's green enough for her.
