Yesterday I told you a little bit about professional hair extensions and how costly they can be, so today I wanted to make sure that you can have long, thick and lustrous hair even if you don't have a bulging budget. These easy-to-use American Dream Hair Extensions ($29.42) really are a dream come true!
All you have to do is match the color extension to your own hair color (which is pretty easy, considering there are 85 shades to choose from), and clip them in section by section to the layer of your hair just underneath your crown.
Be warned that it took me three pieces to create a natural-looking full head of hair. I have thin hair, so if yours is thick, you may even want to go for four. You can use less if you are creating an updo, ponytail or half-up half-down look, or you can choose one contrasting shade for a fun touch of color.
The extensions are made from 100% human hair. This is good news because they are soft, they can be cut and they're safe to use with heated styling tools. Each extension comes in 12 inch wide and 18 inch long wefts. So it's a lot easier — and more affordable — to try this trend than you might think.

I would love to win these for my sis
1Wow... This isn't new either; there were infomercials about a product exactly like this a few years ago. I wonder if that company sold out, or if they'll sue American Dream for it.
You can also just buy a pack of human hair wefts for about $20, cut them to size, and sew your own clips to it (they're about $0.99 for a pack of 3-4).
2Ugh... not for me. I'm happy with my own hair - and the thought of wearing someone else's hair is just a bit creepy.
3When my hair was much shorter I had clip in extensions. I loved them. I got mine from wigs.com but they were super $$$$.
4No, thank you!
5i am concerned about the low price. i recently saw a documentary about human hair used for wigs and extensions and was utterly shocked when it was revealed that hair is cut from poor women and children who make annual pilgrimages in the middle east (or asia - i cannot recall the specific country) to have their hair cut in a lake by priests for religious purposes. they are dirt poor and actually have to pay a fee to have their hair cut. this hair is then sold to companies for cosmetic purposes who charge consumers an arm and a leg for the finished product, whilst the poor ppl who provided the hair get NOTHING.
THINK TWICE BEFORE BYING HAIR!!
(and do some background research
6Burke_chi - do you have a link or something so I can read more about that process? It sounds very interesting, and I wonder what companies buy that hair.
7I don't think I would be able to work something like this.
8i spent more for mine but i never wear them because they always slip out. Anyone have any advice of how to keep them in? (while still being able to move dance etc)
9I think hair extensions are disgusting, would you wear someone elses finger nails, they're made of the same thing.
I agree with burke_chis comment. I read an article about how a company went around orphanges in India and shaved off the childrens hair and gave them a sweet in return.
10in response to some of ur questions:
11i unfortunately don't remember the channel or title of the particular show that i had watched. but in a 1 second search on google i found alot of articles that discuss the exploitation of women and children in the "hair trade".
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/femail/article.html?in_article_id=...
there's one for example.
Am I missing something in regard to the clip-in extentions? They look like small combs that'll just slip out if pulled on, or if gravity has its way with slippery hair. How are they supposed to stay in? Especially if your hair texture is very smooth and fine? I've always wanted to try them, but I really wonder about the staying power.
12I have extensions, & i love them! i wear them all the time. They are easy to wear && easy to put in trust me.
13And if your having trouble woth them falling out, i had this. You just pin the section up of hair like you normally would before you clip them in, then hair spray right round the root of your hair. then back comb your hair .. keeps them in really tight.
Hope that helped
