I keep seeing pictures of models roaming the streets or attending events with disheveled hair. I can't understand why they don't take the time to brush it when beauty is their trade. I can understand why they go messy after getting primped day after day, and I don't expect anyone to look perfect all of the time. But some models consistently look sloppy. Why do you think this is?

I would say it's because they need those days to give their hair a rest. I shampoo my hair evry other day. On the off days I just put some super good expensive deep conditionor on it for 5 minutes.
And when i don't need to, i don't touch my hair with heat products.
usually Mon-Thurs I can get away with this...my hair usually looks perfect and shiney and pretty if I just let it air-dry with some gloss in it.
I think they are probably thinking, "I'm a supermodel, I'm so damn hot that I look great no matter what, so why bother brushing my hair?" Honestly, thats what I would do! I hate fixing my hair, so if I knew I could get away with it, I would never fix it.
I think they do brush their hair but perhaps they dont carry around a brush and brush it constantly. My hair tends to look like this after a whole day without brushing it. And my mom drives me crazy, she always is asking me, "why don't you brush your hair?"
Hmmm never thought about it...
Those 3 models all have thin, fine hair. My hair tends to get massive at the idea of wind & humidity so I abhor volume. But they're probably the opposite. Spray some B&B Surf Spray & break out the volume. casually.
Their hair does probably need some serious TLC - it's abused on a daily basis as part of their job, and it's probably quite fragile. My hair's spoiled rotten, but like these three, it's really fine and I can totally understand they don't want to carry around a brush or continue unnecessarily torturing their poor, mistreated tresses.
And I'm partially with partysugar as well - who can be bothered to be constantly brushing their hair just in case the paparazzi happen to be around?
If that is unbrushed and dishevelled, my hair must look awesome on a daily basis.
Maybe...they're so used to having someone else do their hair, they just don't bother. Like, "they're on their way to a shoot, but I have to make a quick stop.....hope no one sees me..."
Haha, must be nice to not have to worry about your hair 1 day out of 7.
they're too beautiful too care
They're probably just too lazy. I mean, if you're a supermodel, it's not like someone is going to look at you and think you are unattractive just because your hair is disheveled. They know they're more attractive than the general population and probably realize that they don't have to work at it the way the rest of us do.
If my hair went through the hell their hair goes through on a regular basis, I'd want to give it a day of rest, too.
Why don't Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen never brush their hair either?
I heard the reason some years ago. They have so much done to their hair that they just leave it alone on off days. Even brushing puts stress on already stressed out hair.
Probably because they are spoiled and too used to other people doing it for them! So when it's left into their own hands, it just doesn't get done!
They're used to having others do it for them!
I'm...honestly not sure. They should start, lol!
Haha, bythesea took the words right out of my mouth... or rather, my hands.
I think it's just lazyness
if you had someone else doing your hair all the time would you bother to do it yourself?
some people pull this look off good I think. others look terrible!
i think they're into the bedhead style. but it's getting boooring, and it doesn't work on very many people. the olsen twins are two of the biggest bedhead style followers and it even look terrible on both of them.
They're lazy? They think they look so good, they don't need to brush their hair? (Which by the way is TOTALLY UNTRUE)
I think they leave it alone to avoid damaging it. They have to keep it in good condition, but every time they work it's heat styled, teased, etc, which takes a toll. I read once that models are told not to wear any makeup on their off days, so I think this is the same sort of principle.
Being a model means having a lot of stress on your locks. I picked because they don't want to further damage their hair...or is it just a style? Haha, who knows.
Why do we still call them supermodels?
I think they're trying to emulate the Kate Moss slightly disheveled/I didn't try too hard bed head look. To a lesser degree, celebrities like Mischa Barton wear their hair this way as well. And Gisele's messy 'do usually looks stylish so this must be an unfortunate bad hair day.
I like this look. I think they do too. Maybe it's not all that complicated. You know what creeps me out? Being in the same room with more than three girls with iron straightened hair; hello, Stepford! I think pin-straight hair can look good, but it can also be dead boring. Why have someone else's hair when you can have your own?
I hate to say it, but you know what is horribly damaging to hair? Eating disorders. I'm not saying they all subscribe to the Ana/Mia way of life, but I can promise you that anyone who is suffering most likely can't do too much to their hair on their own without risking it breaking off, falling out, or a bit of both. I bet the stylists they work with have to use a LOT of serious product and care for shoots.
I am into bed-head style and I never brush my hair either, unless I straigten it...i hv wavy/curly hair
i dunno i agree with julieulie. LAZY and spoiled.
Look, if I had my hair messed with by other people 99% of the time, with no control over how much damage is being done to it, I also wouldn't want to do anything else to it if I didn't have to. And these models probably don't feel as pressured as others to look good when they go out, because they're supermodels, they're always told they look great, and they know they look great. So why should they make any more effort to prove to the world that they're attractive? They're supermodels. That's a given.
I think they look fine. I also think they probably realize their hair is overstressed, and they also probably also get tired of always doing it (or having it done). The hours of getting pretty probably make it just a part of the trade rather than a 'feelin hot' boost the rest of the world gets dressing up. I wear suits and dress up for work every day, and get so sick of it that I have started living in my workout gear and a ponytail everywhere else... grocery store.. errands... whatever. At a certain point, where you're trying all the time for work, it is separate from you and you just don't need it, I guess.
They are so used to having someone else do their hair that they forgot how?
they insist on looking sexy all the time.
I hate this trend too... it doesn't take much... if they don't have time to brush their hair, do they have time to brush their teeth?
Brushing your hair damages it. I haven't brushed mine in years but I do sleep on a satin pillowcase.
Gee, i loved this post b/c i don't brush my hair, either (although god knows i am no super model - not even close to a regular old model!!!). For an active girl, your hair just gets messed up so quick that it isn't really worth brushing it. Especially b/c if your hair tangles like crazy, like mine, brushing really damages it. It is easier to brush when it's dry, but since i shower in the morning, it's always wet when i leave the house - definitely not brushable!!! I don't mind a somewhat tousled look and it is so comforting to see that these models don't, either!
i'm no super-model, but i did hair model for aveda. i NEVER, EVER brush my hair. i own a brush, but i can't remember the last tmie i used it. honestly, even when i do a blow out, i just use my fingers. brushing is damaging & can make hair look too "done".
I like their hair in these pics....
I dont brush my hair either, but mine doesnt look like theirs. I dont think their hair looks too bad though, its natural looking.
I guess I have to like that they are saying we don't have to have this perfectly flat ironed, blown out, polished look. Gisele's hair looks wavy and a little wind blown, but she still looks put together and like she seriously made an effort.
me too k8 rckstr
they can pull it off so good for them
i wish i could go without brushing my hair...but i'm sure i would look like a freak...
They lack the energy due to starvation.
I'll tell you what, I don't blame the supermodels for having scraggly looking hair. We all know when they get done up, they look great. It's just a hassle to look uber fabulous like they're expected to every single day. Sometimes I horrify myself when I look in the mirror after having been at work all day, not thinking to brush my hair, and my hair looks just as bad, but it looked great when I walked out the door in the morning! Unless you're obsessive about brushing your hair, even the most beautiful people are bound to have bad hair days.
Well first, most do brush their hair. But those whom don't are the Gen X. They feel that just working is hard enough, can you imagine if one of these Gen X stars had to lift a hand to brush their own hair....Outside of the trailer and the proffessional prim and proper. They have someone else to do it, like a surrogate mother, otherwise, it is NOT going to get done. '
I assume it's because they want to appear naturally and effortlessly beautiful. Maybe it takes hours to look that dishevelled yet pretty.
I think they're actual hair is so gross after being damnaged by all that crap their stylists put on it, and they're the only people who know how to cover it.
Would you like someone over you 24/7 assaulting you with Tony&Guy?
Or maybe they're just lazy (:
My bedhead puts theirs to shame! I think it's because their hair is stressed or damaged and the same reason why some people put on hats. It looks like they're stretching out the last styling and don't care what other people think because they're 'trendsetters.' I'm amazed how long they go without washing, esp with the amount of product that ends up in their hair. Doesn't the greasy product-laden hair make their skin break out?
