When Freeze 24/7 released Ice Shield a couple of years ago, I was intrigued. The cleanser not only removes dirt and oil, it also protects skin with SPF 15. Innovative, no? My only complaint was the $48 price tag, which seemed a little high, even for a two-in-one product.
Ah, but now St. Ives has stepped in with its Elements Protective Cleanser ($7.99). The concept of this cleanser is the same: You simply wash your face as you would normally, which simultaneously "washes on" SPF 10 coverage. It's that simple, which should please those of you who prefer having as few steps as possible in your morning routine.
Although I like the lower-priced option, I'm not crazy about the relatively low SPF rating. SPF 10 is small potatoes; at the very least, you should wear SPF 15 every day, and SPF 30 is ideal. If you're serious about protecting your skin, you'll want a higher SPF. But if you're the type of person who doesn't wear sunblock every day already, this is a good way to get at least a little protection without adding another product to your skin-care regimen.

I've definitely been intrigued by this - it'd be great for the days where I forget to use SPF or just want a little extra protection. But not alone for those summer days.
But the bottle is sooooo tiny!
1i dont really see the point in this since most moisturizers have SPF now (higher than 10) and (I would assume) most people wear moisturizer every day... atleast they should...
2so for me, theres no need for a cleanser with SPF when my moisturizer has it...
Actually, ur_momm, a lot of people don't wear moisturizer everyday. I certainly didn't through college and a lot of people with oily skin (like me) don't see the need to. So this is something that could come in handy.
And something that could build a good SPF base for my fair skin.

4shopaholichunny - it really just depends on your skin type as to whether or not you need it. Sometimes sunscreen is all you need!

6I'm no expert but i didnt think people with oily skin didnt need to moisturize...
Whether my skin is oily or dry, i always put it on, once or twice a day.
I'm currently reading a book about it and it tells me that with my particular skin type, I only need to moisturize if my skin feels dry. And that's pretty rare.
I currently still use a moisturizer, but I use it because it helps to matte and has SPF in it.
7I just found myself a new cleanser by Burt's Bees that I'm lovin'. I probably won't try this anytime soon.

I have this cleanser. I started just using it in the AM to give me a little more SPF protection but am starting to use it at night too. I like it cause it cleans really well but doesn't dry out your face or leave any residue, at least not on my oily skin. The only thing though is that you have to lather your face for two mintues. Thats a long time for me, and I never seem to do it long enough. It's also a great gentle cleanser to remove eye makeup if you're feeling lazy at night, removes mascara really well w/o too much scrobbing. It's def worth a try, for only $8, what can you lose?
11I prefer to use seperate products; I love my Peter Thomas Roth moisturizer w/ Spf 30. Although if I'm by the pool, I'll use Neutrogena SPF 55 on my face and Coopertone spf 70 on my body.

is there any benefit to puttin on multiple spf's? like if i wash my face w/ this, i get spf 10. and then if i put on an spf 15, is that MORE beneficial than JUST putting on spf 15? like maybe spf 10 and spf 15 is like wearing spf 25? haha
13Cool! I've been reading that the Lancome Bi-Facial is the best eye makeup remover, but I've also been meaning to find a sunscreen that isn't too greasy. This kills two birds with one stone! And I love the price

14Hmm..That's a pretty cool concept.."wash-on" SPF. Can you layer sunblock from different products?
