When Posh chopped her long locks into an angular platinum bob, she was a trendsetter. When Katie Holmes quickly copycatted the style, the bob craze was officially in full swing. And now Jenny McCarthy has updated hers by adding blunt bangs. I think it is a great cut for certain face shapes, but definitely not for everyone or every hair type. How do you all feel about the bob? Are you still into it, or are you over it?

I still love the bob: straight, curly, angled/not, bangs/no bangs, you can find a version that works for you if you want.
1The bob is a classic hairstyle that will always be "in" whether or not celebrities are sporting it.
2It's a classic and Posh didn't invent it. I have a bob and I love it. I had a bob before Posh did - but yeah my hairdresser has been "poshing it up" lately - which simply means a more dramatic angle from back to front. But it's still the same basic cut I've worn for years.
It's a highly versatile cut - I alternate between side-swept bangs and no bangs, tucking it behind my ear or not, flat-ironing it or letting it curl a bit.
My hair doesn't like to grow much past my shoulders, it's fine and thin and starts getting ratty when it's any longer than chin length. I think I read somewhere that Posh has similar hair challenges and she simply got tired of all the time and effort maintaining extensions, so she chopped it all off!
3Bobs are cute- I had one when I was little. I thought about getting one myself earlier this year, but I didn't grow out my long hair for nothing! I'll probably wait a little bit and do Locks of Love later, and then we'll see.
4this is not the cut for jenny m.
5I think it's classic and very cool- but now all my girlfriends have them. At the beginning of the year, all five of us had long hair- now I'm the only one left, everyone else has gone bob-crazy!
6I think they're cute, but I'm not about to get one (it's taken me 4 years to grow out my hair from the 1-inch spikes I had in grade 12!)
7It's cute on certain people.
8i'm over it I just want long hair
9There's a lot you can do with a bob, especially if you have a stylist who adapts it to your face shape and personal style. I personally don't like Posh's current cut.
That being said, I just had mine cut off so I can be short & spiky again (for me, a bob is when my hair is "long".)
10I have the bob with bangs...sorta like Jenny's up there, but I have a long, skinny face...so I need the bangs to hide my forehead. The A-Line bob (the one that Posh and Jenny had) is kind of played out now, but I get the feeling that the A-Line will become a classic.
11I had the posh like bob last early last year and loved it. I'm over it as the current trend but I do think it's a classic style and can look very fresh and modern. I'm working on growing out my hair now and am looking forward to long locks.
12I think the bob is totally classic, never goes out of style.
13I like this haircut no matter what's trendy. The same goes for Jane Birkin hair. And if I cut my hair again into a bob, Posh Spice would not be the inspiration. I prefer Louise Brooks or random people I spot in fashion blogs.
14I've never liked the bob. I like hair longer and softer - the bob is too angular, and it only emphasizes the angles of the face in an unflattering way. I hope it's on its way out.
15I like it on some people. I don't think it would look good on me, though, but I definitely like it. It's something I don't really see going out of style, but perhaps that's just me.
16The bob only works if the girl has a nice face. Short hair makes me look older...Im barely turning twenty! I don't want to look thirty.
17Had it as a kid. Only works well if you have straight hair. Otherwise you have to be really good with the blow dryer. It's a classic and I'm tired of the press making it seem like Posh invented it.
18i love the short hair and the bob. but i love the pixie cut even more (think rihanna). however, i don't think posh set the tend... wasn't it more of rihanna and christina ricci?
19It's a classic look, but I don't think it's flattering on everyone.
20It's hard to get it right. Those three women must all have super-expensive and acclaimed hairdressers, and yet it wasn't cut particularly flattering on any of them (I think Katie's is probably the best--maybe her face shape works better with it than Posh's or Jenny McCarthy's).
I did love the bob on Linda Evangelista back in the 90s, though.
21I like the bob still, but it is SERIOUSLY overplayed right now.
I loved the bob I cut my hair up into last summer, I think I even brought in a pic of prebangs Jenny McCarthy, but I'm now growing it out a bit, liking longer hair... I'm a grow/cut cyclist, constantly growing it so long it drives me crazy and chopping it all off - I've chopped a foot off for locks of love twice since my wedding in 04. I cut the length off this last time to force myself to be more grownup style at work, since I was getting super lazy and ponytailing too often - and when there is a style I'm more likely to do my hair every day.
This isn't entirely new, but a lot of people are doing it, and I think ultimately I like any haircut on someone that reflects a more personal take on any classic, separating them out from the crowd. And, no, the bangs that are everywhere are NOT the answer!
22I am more tired of the mood surrounding it right now than the haircut itself. I have been wearing a chin-length, sharp angled bob for fifteen years now and what I liked about it was that it was somehow both classic and subversive. It worked with my 50's vintage clothing and my badass dominatrix boots. It was my signature cut. I started growing it out a little over a year ago now, and I'm really glad I did. I would hate to feel associated with any of these three women, stylistically. They made it boring.
23Heck, I'm wearing it!
24So over it
25I think a bob is classic but I'm so sick of seeing everyone and their mother with Posh's bob. I was at a sports arena last night and counted 50 different women with identical hair - blond bobs. Ugh. Looked good on some but on others it just looked like they were trying too hard.
26I have a less stylized (bang free) version of it, and I really like it. It works for my face, and to make my fine thin hair look fuller. It's the only hairstyle I've had that really does that. And, it's great for a lot of face shapes and hair types. But, I am not loving the severe bangs on everyone (like Jenny McCarthy--love her, think she's gorgeous, the bangs make her look old though). That part is overplayed already, and it has barely started to come into focus.
27I like it. Heck, technically I have it, but my hair is too coarse and most of it falls in my eyes or sticks out everywhere.
28I'm over it. It's too popualr right now. Jenny looks older with that haircut. Never a good thing.
29I think it's so pretty and chic
30It can look great if you have the right shaped face for it. I'm getting tired of the look right now though. It seems everywhere you look someone else is getting the cut.
31I hate this cut on pretty much everyone.
32i think this is def. Posh's look!!!! jen and rihanna are copy cats! hisss. lol
33I have curly hair, so the bob is definitely not for me. However, both of my daughters, ages 2 and 5, are both sporting bobs and look soooooooo incredibly cute! I think the bob works for little girls and very skinny grown up women with stick straight hair.
34I had a bob from quite a long time, it's a classic haircut, Posh didn't invent anything, if anything she just made it unclassy. Katie Holmes is the one from those three who looks better with it, although I really don't like her.
35I love it! If I could pull it off I would.
36I hate the bob now...it's getting waaaay to played out. I really don't know how it caught on so quickly.
37The bob is always in style.
38I love the bob but I wish some of these female celebrities would be a tad more original rather than copying one another incessantly. There was (at least) an illusion of originality before the whole Bob craze, now they're just plain shameless! If I had top notch hairstylists and colorists at my disposal, I wouldn't replicate a cut I've seen on everybody and their grandma.
39Jenny and Posh ended up with their bobs cause they had screwed up their own hair with extensions. They really had no choice except to cut it off.
I had really liked Jenny's bob cut without the bangs and she had a wonderful color too. I don't know what to think of those bangs on her now.
But speaking of the cut itself. I have always loved a well cut bob on just about anyone. It always makes the hair look healthy since you have to keep it trimmed every 4 weeks.
40Over it. They're too structured. The last good bob to come out of Hollywood was the one Catherine Zeta Jones sported as Velma Kelly in Chicago.
41I've had some version of a bob on and off since I was a kid. I've had my hair longer, tried heavier layers, shorter cuts and other varieties, and nothing looks right. Plus I have no patience for styling. I want a cut where I can comb through it easily when wet, blow dry it fast and be done.
My hair is finely textured, although there's a lot of it, and it doesn't hold a style all that well. Long hair just looked blah and dragged my face down.
42i don't know...a bob makes most people look like 4 yr olds or Posh Spice...and I don't want to look like either. I don't think a bob suits people with sharp (not button-like) features.
43i love the bob! i had the cut when i was a little girl up until 8th grade and grew my hair long for high school bec. i wanted to look "older". i want to cut my hair into a longer version of the bob but i keep changing my mind. i've had long hair for a long time now and i just can't make up my mind about cutting it =/
i like it best on when rihanna had it. posh's bob looks just like the earlier spice girls days(think...1997) just more angled. i think rihanna was the first to bring back the bob and everyone else copied her.
44its just a sh*t hairstyle all together. it looks bad on everyone. viccy sud really change her hair.
45I've had super short hair and super long hair but the bob is really the only cut that truly suits and frames my face. I personally love it!
46it's beautiful but not every girl can carry it off.
47your face should be sharp and oval enough, sadly.
THe bob looks fabu on anyone, any hair texture, and shape face. It all depends on how it's cut. My favorite is the curly bob and straight and full.
48I like the bob on others, but I've always had long hair.
49I'm into it!
In fact, I have one!
I think it looks great, it's very parisian chic.
It's not for everyone, though. :/
