gaining a cup size definitely sounds great to me (every little bit counts!) but somehow the whoe "body absorbs this filler" just doesn't sound safe. Guess I'll stick with my a-cups....

I've had Restylane twice and the lips "absorb" it too, hence it's on a temporary thing. Testylane is also a hyaluronic acid-based filler.

Hyaluronan is already found in the human body, hence why it gets "absorbed." Hyaluronan is an important component of articular cartilage, where it is present as a coat around each cell. When aggrecan monomers bind to hyaluronan in the presence of link protein, large highly negatively-charged aggregates form. These aggregates imbibe water and are responsible for the resilience of cartilage (its resistance to compression).

Basically the injectable latches on to the hyaluronan already present in the body and bloats it, hence how you get bigger lips and deep wrinkles aren't quite so deep. It's also why it dissolves over time, just like the hyaluronan already present in the body depleats as we get older...

I think more people need to realize Botox (made of a toxin) and Restylane (made up of component already in the human body) are two DIFFERENT things.

This filler here is along the same lines as Restylane.

I agree with some above, having something absorb into you over time seems slightly dangerous.

I've been saying they should do this for YEARS!! Only I think they should figure out a way to take fat from your ass (or wherever you don't want it) and put it in your boobs. And it should permanent. I'd never get boob job, but I'd consider doing that.

There is nothing freaky or gross about it. My mother had this procedure done two years ago after being a victim of breast cancer. It reduced any stretch marks and wasn't as much of a shock to her body when she was "topped off". Aimeeb you know what your talking about.
Its not always about vanity, its about helping victims of cancer or accidents that need some sort of plastic surgery. we need to stop thinking of things as vain and to realize that these procedures are actually helping people.

The thing that strikes me about the 'boob jab' is how expensive it is for something temporary--doesn't seem any scarier than many procedures that are now considered common

i think this could be a good idea for somebody who is considering implants, to see if they like the bigger cup size and all that. for a one time thing, its pricey, but worth it if it will help make the decision regarding implants.

but to do this instead of having implants?!?! it doesn't make sense! why would you want to have to go back and have this done every 18 months?! what if one side absorbs faster than the other?!?! not to mention the price!!! $4000 is a lot of money to keep doling out every 18 months.

It is a lot of money and I can't say that it's for me (would rather have a reduction!) but I can see where people might only want to temporarily be bigger, so why not?

I am definitely not well-endowed, but my breasts are proportionate to my body, so why would I change them? I agree that small breasts have an unfairly negative reputation. It astounds me that so many people would endure untested and disturbing (I hate needles) procedures just to go up a size.

After having my son my breasts were very eneven and saggy. One breast was noticibly larger than the other. I got a breast lift & augmentation and love the reults. Looking back, if I could do it over agian I might have only gotten the lift and not the implants. While I love the way they look, they are beautiful...I don't like the pain they cause at times.

I think people need to just embrace who they are...

I'm happy with my small breasts. I can pull off plunging necklines without looking like a total skank.

for some reason, i would do this before implants. this way, if i decide i don't like my boobs a cup size bigger, i won't have to have major surgery again to remove the implants. also, i bet your boobs would feel and look way more natural.

I would only consider implants becuase my breast are uneven. It's not noticeable in clothing though. It's not even that bad undressed - and no guy has ever noticed it. But it's not like I walk around top less so it's not that big of a deal at all. And I am totally comfortable with my size - a B cup. My big thing is I don't like the idea of having a foreign object that isn't medically necessary put inside me. Not worth it to me. And yes, I agree that more women need to embrace their bodies as they are - we need more self acceptance.

Thanks Tamma1387. I just get so sick of people saying "ick" or "eww" or "scary" when they really have NO idea about the difference in injectables. People here a few bad stories, or people who abuse it and consider ALL of them to be bad or scary.

People need to educate themselves more. I did and it's why I'm fully okay with Restylane and other similar injectables.

I could have sworn there already was a procedure where fat from your body is injected into your breasts. Maybe I dreamt it up, who knows. That being said I think I'd try this.
I had a breast reduction when I was 17 and at the last minute (like while I was cut open) the doc realized he needed to take more out than he thought. While I'm a nice D cup it's been hard to get used to because I had such huge (and painful) boobs before. I often wonder what it would be like if I were a DD like was planned, so in that case I think I'd try it.

Body...absorbs...filler. Say it with me now, "Ewwwwwwwww." I know everyone says fillers are safe, but honestly, it seems like these things get approved pretty quickly, often before there has been an opportunity for long term studies, so I just don't trust it. Plus, it seems like all the expansion and contraction of the tissue with the injections, absorption, and re-injections could cause some sagging and stretching issues, no?

There's no way I'd do this. Someone else can be the guinea pig for finding out what happens when the body has to absorb this volume of filler.

Furthermore, I don't think it's a great idea even as a temporary thing because it'll stretch the skin. I was on the Pill when I was younger and it made my breasts grow from a B to a full C/small D. When I went off the Pill the volume decreased to a B again, but the skin didn't completely shrink to match. It was a good experience in the sense that I learned that I'm happier with my natural small chest, but I'd rather have my original tight and perky skin.

I would NEVER get a boob job (or jab!) I like my 32A chest and prefer looking natural than to have chemical fillers injected or two ballons sitting on my chest.

i think its okay for insecure ppl to go up a size if it boosts their confidence, but you shouldnt find happiness in boob size.

Uhm, ew. I hate needles, and I hate fake boobs. What's wrong with being natural? (I say this from the perspective of a 38D, but I don't think I'd be too bothered if I had smaller boobs either...) And what sort of chemicals is your body absorbing from this treatment, anyway? Sounds like an all-around bad idea to me...

IMHO big boobs are out. I would much prefer having small-ish firm breasts. I think most women these days get implants to improve firmness. I think it's classier and it looks better style wise to have something on the smaller side.

I don't find this procedure disgusting, but I do have concern for the integrity of the elasticity of breast tissue due to repeated treatments over time. Skin and breast tissue sag with weight and age, and more so when there is a dramatic and/or repeated reduction in mass, size and weight. Breasts tend to sag more after you've lost a lot of weight -- the same will happen if you keep getting this procedure. The same holds true for the insertion and subsequent removal of breast implants. Then again, if someone can afford repeated Boob Jabs, then they can probably afford multiple breast lifts. :\

Hmm...$4000 for one cup size up that only lasts about a year sounds kinda crap. If it were permanent, then that'd be awesome.

I honestly don't think this procedure is as goddamn awful as you people make it sound. There's nothing wrong with wanting to look a certain way. If people want to get implants, injections, or whatever to have bigger boobs, let them and leave them alone. It's not for you to judge. If you like it natural, then that's great too.

I am concerned about the long-term side affects of this boob jab thing though. I mean, even if this hyaluronan stuff is naturally found inside of the body or whatever...estrogen is too, and putting an excess of that inside of our bodies could result in a higher risk of certain types of cancer. I'm not sure if that was the best comparison to use, but I know next to nothing about this kinda stuff so...*shrugs*

plastic surgery freaks me out for a couple reason but first and foremost i really don't like it on account of the violence it inflict upon women. i do agree with the post above that women should be able to do whatever they want with their bodies just like they should be able to think whatever they want with their minds but i do think it's really sick that we are living in a world where women are willing to cut themselves up, break bones, inject themselves with chemicals, burn their faces, shove silicon into their most intimate regions, et cetra so that they can either "normalize" (in a study asking women with boob jobs one of the most common reasons was because they wanted to look "normal") or so that they may fulfill an abstract blueprint of what is beautiful. the whole beauty is pain thing is brought to another level with plastic surgery.

what ever happened to beauty in individuality? specifically to boob jobs, i think part of what makes breasts cool is that there is so much variety in them. that kind of variety is lost with boob jobs that end up looking terribly similar and, to me, really boring. what ever happened to falling in love with your body not just because it is individual and unique but because it is you own if not for any reason?
i guess i figure that i'm my body just as much as i am my thoughts so why on earth would i want to do something terribly violent against it in order to transform it into something that isn't me?

The sound of the procedure is really cool, but when you think logically, no form of body modification is "normal". normal is what you were born with. I used to want bigger breast (32a is what I was born with), but then I realized I'm more comfortable the way I am. I will never have breast-induced back pain or a trashy amount of cleavage.I also won't have to put up with long saggy boobs when I'm older (like my grandma). My best friend has 36DDDs and she's constantly giving me shirts that are too revealing and not supportive enough for her. Also, she has 2 wear 3 sports bras to exercise and buy outrageously expensive bras.

I also tried the Pill for over a year and although my breasts didn't grow, I would never again be on the pill because of unnatural feelings in my body and don't ever want anything foreign in me again. I prefer natural for the simple reason of the lack of surgery, money, dangerousness and regret. Natural is beautiful. and true confidence comes from acceptance.
