Within the past month, two girlfriends have separately claimed that the La Mer Lip Balm is the cat's pajamas. With rave reviews like this, I naturally couldn't help but satisfy my curiosity and check it out for myself. There's pretty much one word I can think to best describe this product and it's ohmig-d! As expected, it contains the famous La Mer Miracle Broth, vitamins, mint, and plant extracts to help regenerate, hydrate, and insulate your lips from extreme temperatures — hot and cold.
You first notice the refreshing cooling sensation followed by a sweet and minty scent (the taste is equally pleasant). It is incredibly moisturizing without being sticky whatsoever and the texture is light, so your ring finger only needs to take one lap around the edge to cover both of your lips.
While I am painting this product picture perfect, it wouldn't be fair to withhold its two drawbacks. First, where's the SPF? It claims to protect your lips from hot and cold, all the while dismissing sun protection. And lastly, any way you slice it, 45 bones for a lip balm is steep. That being said, I feel strongly enough about it that I'm still willing to recommend it despite the cost.
Too bad for my other friends that I'm a little bit of a germaphobe. If this was the kind of thing you could share — like body lotion — I'd be more than happy to let them have at it, but no can do. Sorry girls, get your own.

i'll stick with my spearmint chapstick
1love itttt
I love Creme de La Mer and don't mind splurging for it, but I don't think I'd spend $50 on a lip balm. It would have to be pretty darn amazing.
2i'm with cecilia -- my spearmint chapstick does the trick and costs so little compared to this!
3i will say i do like it. it's great. i carry it around with me in my purse. but 8 times out of 10 i still reach for my traditional burt's bees. why? i don't know. maybe i'm just over the whole applying with your finger thing.
4I actually wouldn't mind spending that much on a lip balm, since they last forever (at least for me)--I think I spent about that much on my Origins lip balm that lasted about a year. And the La Mer balm sounds like something I'd die to try
5Yikes. $50 for lip balm is a bit steep, even for me - especially because I'd get tired of it and move on in a few weeks time! I think I shall stick to my collection of various cheaper lip balms - with SPF included!
6I bought Clinique lip balm for €15 and found it costly already =)I think most lipbalm works perfectly so why pay so much?
7its just too much
8its just too much
9That is the cheapest thing in their line, I wonder if they will make a stick form soon.
10I hate applying stuff with my fingers, and you're right, where's the SPF? For $45 you should at least be putting that in...la mer is amazing, I unfortunately cannot afford it and have only tried it in a store, but $45 is just too extravagant for me on lip balm.
11I would try it but I can't stand applying chapstick with my fingers! I think tubes are much more sanitary.
12bought it this past weekend- love it, a trick that the specialist told me- pucker up{like your going to kiss} and swirl the tub around
13clockwise 1 turn- and done..it might create a wear mark in center, but just use a plastic knife to re-distribute in tub.
I can't imagine spending $45 on lip balm. I could buy a whole lot of chapstick for $45
14Dude, where's my SPF?
For almost $50, it needs to have that AND it needs to put itself on for me! Sorry, LaMer, not yet.
15I lose chapstick too often to spend $45!
16I'll pass...
17I'll stick with my Cake Kiss.
18burts bees and softlips work just as well, and they have SPF!
19I'm addicted to Avon's Care Deeply with Aloe - and it's only $.79!
20No chapstick is worth $50 unless it's far above and beyond other ones, and I have a feeling this isn't that unique.
And I doubt all the claims about La Mer cream also, I've read plenty of bad reviews on it.
21romaniagrl - its no chapstick trust love.
its bloody amazing thats what this is. i
carry mine everywhere!
22You guys won't belive this
23this lady lives in my neighbourhood
