With all the talk about trendy, dark and bright nail polishes in the spotlight these days, it's nice to keep some muted, basic shades in the mix for when you're feeling more conservative. Below are three of my favorite pale, pink polishes. Unfortunately, now that I know that Essie subscribes to the big three, I'll have to rethink my choices. Something tells me that considering all of the attention the subject of safety is getting, things in the nail biz are bound to change. Let's hope so.
OPI Sweet Heart ($7) is the deepest and most opaque pink of the bunch. In my opinion, it also lasts the longest. (Anyone care to dispute this?) Sweet Heart is my go-to color for elegant manicures and pedicures in any given season.
Essie Ballet Slippers ($8) is a classic, tame, sheer pink that doesn't contain any shimmer. It gives a high-gloss finish and happens to be one of the brand's all-time best sellers.
For one last pretty pale pink polish, read more.
Deborah Lippman Sarah Smile ($15) is a sheer, sexy, whisper pink that was created alongside and inspired by Deborah's long-time client, Sarah Jessica Parker. What can I say, pretty much anything SJP creates I love — that woman's all class.

essie - mademoiselle and opi - coney island cotton candy are awesome too
1I live with a french mani and pedi 99% of the time. I find it classy and sexy.
My two colors?
Essie: Ballet Slippers
Essie: Pink Slip
Love.
2OPI!
3Pale pinks don't suit my skin color! Too bad, I know they are so hot right now...
4I prefer OPI Passion as my go-to pale pink/everyday shade.
5essie fed up and my favorite, opi hopelessly in love
6Essie Ballet Slippers is definitely a classic!
7nice colors,
8you cant never
go wrong with
neutral, fresh
nails....
I have that Essie shade and it is the perfect pink.
The OPI one is lovely too.
9I just got a manicure this weekend with OPI Sweet Heart! I love it!
10mix Essie Sugar Daddy with Essie Ballet Slippers! perfect combo.
11I love pale pink... but I have darker skin so it (and actually any pastel-ish shade) doesn't seem to look good on me. Boo.
12I recently picked up a Maybelline French manicure pink shade that's really sheer, it just gives a hint of light pink to my nails - brilliant!
13I have been a LONGTIME fan of OPI Sweetheart, so I was happy to see it on the list. They also have a bridal collection of pinks that are all fabulous with names like Mimosa's for the Mr. & Mrs., Hopelessly in Love, and Honeymoon Sweet. I'm trying not to use Essie anymore because of the big three, but also because the polish seems to crack after a few days of wear. Ugh!
14I'm sorry, but it's black forever for me.
15I like OPI Heart Throb a lot, but I'll give Sweet Heart a try since I can't find Heart Throb lately. I like OPI A Dozen Rosas for my toes--it's more of a medium pink.

Thanks for the opportunity to participate in this contest.
17Essie varnishes always look fab. They have such great colours. Try Butter London too for some very wearable, and cool, greys, beiges and pinks. www.butterlondon.com
My fave shade for when I want to look effortlessly chic and groomed, but not flashy is mac twink pink, a slightly frosted, not too girlie sheer pink.
18Rimmel's French Rose is a great pale pink-neutral! AND it lasts a long time and goes on very shiny. For under $3.
