Talk about at-home spa treatments. This La Mer Body Cream is so unbelievably thick and creamy, the folks at La Mer HQ call it a "seaweed wrap in a jar." Lucky for me, I was sent a sample because $195 for body cream is holy outrageous, Batman!
The lotion comes packaged in a pale green celery jar and smells exactly like the face cream and the hand treatment. That's probably because it contains all kinds of ingredients from the sea along with four kinds of algae, omega 3, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. Funny enough, it doesn't contain the company's most famous Miracle Broth, which I thought was their secret weapon.
I'll level with you: If this became your guilty pleasure, you'd need to take another mortgage out on your house, but for anyone who's got some cash to burn, I'd put this at the top of my list. It really is that fabulous. The cream comforts and seriously moisturizes dry, damaged skin. For everybody else who is looking for a less expensive option, check out my drugstore pick for body lotion.

¡Ay, Dios mio! That is definitely outrageously priced. And I must confess, I haven't yet had the opportunity to smell anything from La Mer, much less rub it into my most sensitive of areas. Tell me, Bella, of what do La Mer creams smell?
1Oh, mejor, what fantasy does it help you concoct? On what sort of fantastic voyage does it take you?
2I'd love to try La Mer products!
3I love the hand lotion.. you can get it at a pretty good price on eBay actually.
4La Mer is over-rated and over-priced.
5I love LaMer face cream and I will spend the $90 on it, because a jar of it lasts me FOREVER.
But I won't spend $200 on a body lotion...I'd go through it in about a week. I'm sure it's fab, though.
6ah, La Mer. So controversial. I think if I was to use a heavy cream over large areas I will stick to the original nivea creme because they are somewhat similar in texture and feel, and even smell.. but I suppose if you want to blow your money on a ritzy product, that is your prerogative
although if someone handed me a sample jar of this I would use it for sure, dont get me wrong.
7I think this brand is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overrated.
8I love this body cream. It's a little on the ridiculously priced size but I did 9 years of competitive swimming and 3 of water polo growing up and my skin was always so dry and scaly even a couple of years after not being in a pool a whole lot, only swimming a couple times a week to stay in shape and this is some of the only stuff I don't have to reapply a few times throughout the day or that feels like there is a heavy layer of waxy or oily residue suffocating my skin.
9love it, I buy the travel collection- 6.8oz of body creme & a 1.7 oz hand creme for $165 and both last 2 months- love it!!
10Hrm--for nearly $200, I want some damn Miracle Broth in it!
11Wow you're so lucky to have received it for free! I've first read about La Mer's expensive cream in an article about celebs'secrets to have a pretty skin in a French magazine a few years ago where they said that Paris Hilton used it, I bet she doesn't have any troubles affording it! I wish I could too!
12Yowza. No WAY am I paying $200 for body cream. I think La Mer is pretty overrated, because I think I get pretty fab results from stuff that's a mere fraction of the price (and the hype).
13KimBurnett - your obvs one of the people who has never ctried la mer's products. if u did ud see how you cant live without them.
maybe its just for us rich people.
lolz.
14That was kinda b%tch, TFS.
15lol i guess it sounded it, but i hate how people just slag something off when they've never even tried it. her comment was the classic "i cant afford this so ill just be negative about it so it sounds like im not bothered or jealous that i cant have it"
get my drift..?
16Oh, totalmente, TFS, I get the drift... hehe..
So no one ever answered me: What does it smell like?
17i love the smell of all la mer's products, its fresh, unlike other cosmetics that smell of chemicals. i.e. HOPE IN A JAR. Ewwww!
18oh and another thing ill say to, if you have any kind of like acne or eczema on your body this works bloody wonders on clearing it up, as in like 4days,and its gone. :]
