Browsing around my local Walgreens the other day, my eyes landed on this blush compact from Revlon. It's part of a holiday limited-edition line, but the color still looks great in April. The Revlon Golden Affair Sculpting Blush in Berry Daring is a bright raspberry pink color, embossed with a shimmery gold design, and even though I've been favoring my Shisedo Cream Blush lately, this looked like something I definitely needed to have.
This blush claims to "dramatically sculpt cheeks" with the use of the finely-milled gold shimmer mixed in with the colored powder. When you open the clear plastic compact and swirl a blush brush around in it, the golden design disintegrates a bit, which I guess only ruins the pretty factor, but still, it's slightly disappointing. The color is picked up easily by the brush, so one brief swirl will pick up plenty of product and golden shimmer. I buffed it on and was pleased with the shade, but disappointed that there wasn't much of the cheek-sculpting shimmer deposited onto my cheeks.

It's a nice shade that wears well, but the price was a bit of a shocker: $13. That makes it almost as costly as a high-end powder blush. Yikes. On one hand, the pigment is good quality for drugstore blush, but the price doesn't exactly make it a steal. So I'm torn. I won't stop using it now that I have it, but I am not sure I would buy it again. Have any of you tried this one? What do you think?

I love this blush! It definitely doesn't do much "sculpting", but the shimmery shade looks so pretty on cheeks. I've been using this one for quite a while now.

2For $13, no way. I can get a MAC or other higher-end blush for just a bit more, which I know will perform to a higher standard.
3From my experience, the best way to "sculpt" one's cheeks is by using a darker shade in the hollows and top it with a lighter shade on the apples with a shimmery shade on the cheekbone (parallel to the eye). NYX makes a great variety of blushes that are all very pigmented and are approximately $5 each. Jane and Milani also carry great drugstore blushes.
I've tried some AMAZINGLY pigmented drugstore brushes and some rather lackluster high end blushes and have found that there is no direct correlation between price and quality. Revlon's blushes aren't that great. MAC blushes are some of my least favorite. Pout makes THE best blushes, too bad the brand no longer exists =(.
4Speaking of favourite blushes, I have to say mine is Benefit's Thrrrob.
5sounds like a huge waste of money. if your going to spend that much money, go to a nice store and try one on and be sure you like it before you buy it.
6I'm not interested in this...I'm not a big fan of shimmer in my blush, and I wouldn't pay $13 for drugstore makeup.

9I was in RiteAid the other day and I was looking at cosmetics. Revlon has tons of interesting stuff out now that I would like to try, but pretty much everything there was $10 or more. That's a lot of money to pay for something in drug store. If I'm going to pay $10+ I'd rather go with a dept. store brand.

12I walk past these blushes every time I go to Rite Aid and wonder about them. I bought a great eye shadow from Revlon in the same line - it's a sparkling champagne color - highly recommend!
