I always have to giggle when a product has a name this long. That's a lot of name to live up to. This Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Soother Cooling Hydragel ($7) caught my eye because of the pleasant yet not-too-intense pink color. Another gloss reels me in, hook, line and sinker.
The Cooling Hydragel Gloss uses glycerin to moisturize, soothe, and provide a high-sheen gloss. This little guy packs quite the punch: it's thick and gooey, smells overwhelmingly sweet, and made my lips feel tingly and cool. The appearance is super-shiny with little to no detectable color (admittedly I chose the pink shade closest to my own lip color). In fact, the product is so incredibly thick and shiny that it ends up being also really sticky — so much so that I found myself avoiding pursing my lips just to avoid the discomfort of them sticking together.
I like the slick feeling of lip gloss, but this was just too sticky for me. It also has an annoying tropical fruit punch flavor that's strikingly similar to the super-sweet stuff you drank as a kid. I can't tell if this is an '80s throwback, or just a really poorly executed marketing decision. In all fairness, when I gave a friend a sniff, she loved it. To each their own, I guess. I really like the way it looks, but I'm weird about gloss. I hate wearing gloss that's incredibly sticky. It always seems inevitable that when I wear sticky gloss I get my hair stuck in it, which probably sounds weird
Haha, I agree with brittany... my hair always gets stuck on my lip gloss.... So gonna have to pass on this one.
I've been contemplating this for a while, now I'm glad I didn't go for it.
I use this and I love it. In fact I like it a lot more than my Clinique lip gloss which cost double the price. The Neutrogena one makes my lips feel better for the long run and it has SPF which I like. But I can see how some people might not like it.
i have this exact shade & i LOVE it, i don't find it too sticky at all. Its very cushiony, yummy & comfortable on the lips.
The scent is a little strong but I totally love the SPF 20. It's hard to find a shiny lip gloss with any SPF, much less SPF 20.
Thanks for the review. I have been curious to try this stuff (the cooling hydragel part of the superlong name was intriguing) but I think I will avoid it because I am not a fan of really sticky glosses.
I'll pass but thanks...
I have this and really like it. I don't think it's sticky, and I love the SPF 20. I always bring it to the beach with me as an alternative to SPF lip balm. The only thing I don't like about it is the price. It's more than $8 where I live, and it's a small tube, so it's a lot for a drugstore lip gloss.
I bought this two years ago or so...whenever it first came out. I also hate the smell and find it to be extremely sticky. I'd never buy one again.
Eh... it seems alright, but I have a skazillion glosses, and this one seems to have more downs than ups... so I'll take a pass.
I had this stuff last summer. The darkest red you can get from it. Its okay. I love that it had sunscreen and it feels cool. The smell, you either love or hate. And it was a bit sticky but not any worse than anything else.
I love lip gloss, but a major problem I have with most is that it's too sheer for me and I don't like to have too much shine. I still wear it anyway!
i bought this for the same reason (loved the shade), and also found it sticky. the deal breaker for me, though, was that the cooling sensation is totally disturbing. so gross!
I tried it... didnt like it either.
I tried it, and its great in the winter because it kinda soothes chapped lips, but as a gloss I would normally wear, its sticky.
it looks nice on some people but i dont think i liked it.. and besides i heard glosses with lip plumpers are bad for the lip nerves!
Thanks for the review. I'll probably pass on this one.
I have the peach one and it is super sticky, but I like that it has SPF in it, and for $7 I think it's ok.
I started using this gloss months ago and I've been pretty loyal to it. I like it, but I don't love it. It's a good gloss for when you dont want to look overdone, but it fades fast. That's my only beef with it.
I like flavored stuff, and the colors are pretty, but $8 is a lot of
money (on my paycheck at least)
I have this and I like it. I like the cooling feeling and the thicker texture because it lasts longer. Mine did not seem to have the same flavor you're describing so I wonder if they are different flavors, depending on the color you choose.
I've used it before. It did smell wonderful, yes. But it was unbearably sticky and leaked everywhere in my bag after a few days... they should work on the design of that cap. I would not buy that stuff again. Rimmel makes my favourite glosses and lipsticks ^_^
I have this stuff and really don't like it. I use it on days that I'm going to be outside cause it has a high SPF. It's really sticky and the taste gets in my mouth and it's kinda gross.
I love this stuff! Its much less sticky than other glosses I have tried! It lasts forever, tastes great, and has just a hint of color! I use it all the time!
I like the colors in the tube of this, but once I bought one, I really, really hated the feel (super sticky) and they ended up clear on the lips. I love lipglosses, but this was not the one for me.
I have this one in Glaze and I wear it under my usual lipstick for the SPF and I like the cool feel-so I love it as my new balm but it is to sticky to wear alone.
i have this lipgloss in a different shade and i love it
