Ladies, take your bodyguards along for protection when you wear your new Shine Hard Core Gloss ($22) from Lipstick Queen. Creator Poppy King knew exactly what kind of trouble she was causing for us when she re-launched this 1970's disco-inspired product. Think of Paris Hilton's gleaming pout and then multiply it ten-fold.
There's nothing subtle whatsoever about this thick, tacky, sticky, goopy, gooey gloss. The closest analogy I can think of is how honey keeps lingering until you use your finger to stop the drip. This has a similar consistency, only honey smells sweet. Shine Hard Core Gloss has an old-school thing going on instead; it's odorless, so you really are just smelling the actual ingredients. All of this being said, I love this product. It's fun, it's daring — and it's best worn on a day with no wind! If you're looking for a wet-looking, extreme shine kind of gloss, this pot's for you!

Sounds like it looks gorgeous, but I hate thick glosses. I have too much hair!
I don't want glitter in my gloss.
Wine sinner sounds cool. I love tacky, slutty gloss on nights out.
I prefer a lipstick from that brand, especially since she orginally started out her business because she couldn't find lipsticks like the type people would have used in the 1940s. That's way more appealing to me. I was definitely born in the wrong era, even though if I could go back, I'd go back to London and Paris in the 1960s.
Ew, I bet it feels grody.
It's always a bit windy where I live so there is no way this would work.
Ooh! I saw this on Barney's site the other day but didn't know what it was all about!
so rockin!
i agree too much hair and I live in the windy city! not a good combination.
Yay, it's back! I keep my hair tied back when I wear most glosses. I'm going for the plum or red.
this reminds me of those Poppy lip glosses..
These look pretty cool...I love the cherry-red and the plum colored ones.
Although the "thick" and "sticky" part might keep me away from these...I hate tacky-feeling glosses.
First of all Lipstick Queen is hot for all occasions!!! I have switched from another brand.
I love the saint pink lipstick with the clear sinner translucent gloss. It work beautifully on my lips.
Hey, check it out at Barney's you will love it. BB
I really like the cherry red one. I bought a similar one the other day.
ulgh, thick and sticky? no thanks...
sounded bad till you said you loved it...
I like shine, but not too much shine. My fiance is SO not a fan of any shine whatsoever.
nice.... but strictly
for a night out clubbing
I would love this if i didn't already have full lips
I don't like overly shiny gloss, and I have waist-length hair. Which I wear loose. And I live in a windy city. So no go.
I just read Poppy's interview in FOAM Magazine and when they asked her about future products, she said to look out for something hard-core. I like the idea of the gloss however the thick & gooey part sort-of sends me away; I would try it though. I like the packaging.
oooh gorgeous! i don't even care how sticky is if it really looks that good
The consistency sounds horrid. No thanks.
I love the deep red gloss. I'd definitely wear it.
Clear Sinner looks like a winner lol.
I LOVE glosses- gloss addict here- and I really like high shine and wet shine. I'd get this product just for the high shine and alluring shades, but like the others, the tackiness and goopiness is a turn off, special occasions only!
Whatever you do don't get the "Black Tie Optional" color in the lipstick version. I bought this excitedly and couldn't wait to get it delivered! I have already tried their Saint and Sinner line, both are exceptionally smooth and perfect. Unfortunately, the Black lipstick, I don't know what is wrong with it, but it's very, VERY chalky and waxy. It almost has the feel of trying to use a candle stick for lipstick. The color is very sheer almost grey and would be perfect if it wasn't for the fact that the lipstick itself clumps up in little waxy bits as soon as you put it on your lips. I even contacted Lipstick Queen directly to ask if maybe I had gotten something from a bad batch. The worst part is I can't return the lipstick to the store I had it shipped from since I have already used it over and over trying to get it creamier, i.e. mixing it with vaseline and gloss and everyting else I could try, I SO didn't want to give up on it. But nothing is working and it continues to leave little waxy clumps on my lips. I also have yet to hear back from the Lipstick Queen company. Maybe I should have purchased the Gloss version in Black instead.
I'm so bummed about this.
