Over the past year, I've talked in great detail about many different types of volumizing, lengthening, curling, separating, and glossing mascaras. There's even a new one from Besame that smells just like gingerbread. I've tried them all, and while most of them are great at the beginning, I find that they generally don't live up to the hype about remaining clump and flake-free for more than a month.
That's why I'm partial to these five mascaras. I know that I can always turn to them to separate, define, and darken my lashes and make them look flirty and fluttery in the most natural-yet-enhanced possible way. What's your tried and true mascara?

- Lancome Courbe Virtuose ($23) helps gives lashes that extra curl they need to look longer and sexier. The brush is amazing, it never clumps, and the color isn't too light nor too dark.
- Lash Blast by Cover Girl ($6.99) is awesome. It's inexpensive and it effectively gives you a sexy, false-lash look.
- The Balm Two-Timer ($19) is great because you can use the fine brush for a natural daytime look and the thick brush for a dramatic, curled, and elongated evening look.
- Mirenesse Secret Weapon ($27, but deals abound) separates and lengthens lashes like crazy. It doesn't look too over-the-top, and although it stays all day, it comes off with just a bit of warm water.
- Beauty Addicts Lash Galore ($22) is silky, rich, conditioning, and volumizing. It creates full, separated, long lashes with a touch of glamorous shine.

Haven't tried any of these, but Lash Blast, which I do think is a great drugstore mascara. Great Lash is my favorite though.
Clinique High Definition mascara is my next choice.
1fiberwig by imju gives my eyelashes the false lash look
2too bad it doesn't darken/volumize as much as i would like it to
which is why i use that and define-a-lash by maybelline.
Urban Decay Big Fatty or Maybelline Unstoppable. They're the only two that I've liked enough to use for more than one tube!
3I looooooooooooooooooove Professional Remarkable Washable Waterproof Mascara. But this kind isn't a pain to wash off.
4Love LashBlast. Haven't tried any of the others but I will now. I'm always looking for a new mascara, it seems. I always fall back on DiorShow.
5Lancome Hypnose, is the BEST! I will NEVER go back!!
6I love Prescriptives False Eyelahes. I use MAC everything else, but go to the Prescriptives counter for mascara. (I think the MAC mascara sucks.)
7Fiberwig is the BEST.
8Too Faced Lash Injection=the best mascara ever. I'm never using another one.
9I'm surprised that the Dior Show isn't one of the picks. I also like Fiberwig, but its only good for elongating lashes. I have to say that I really like Great Lash in the Royal Blue, its not crazy vibrant, but just a hint of color that will really shine through in the sunlight.
10Supernova by Fresh is awesome for black. I also love Urban Decay's Big Fatty in Indigo and Electric Blue!
11I want to try that Lancome!! I am always in search of the next bestt hing! I do Love my Diorshow and Lancome Hypnose. Oh, and Shu's Fiber Extension is not bad either!!As far as drugstore goes, Loreal Voluminous will do in a pinch
12ooo - gotta try the Lancome. But I have to say, DiorShow has been my go-to since I discovered it. I've gone through three or four tubes, which is unheard-of for me. It's also the only one that has never bothered my eyes: maybe it doesn't flake, maybe I just use it fast enough.
13I love, love, love Mirenesse Secret Weapon. It's one of the best mascaras I've ever used. I got my mom hooked on it awhile back. She has tiny lashes that clump super easily and Mirenesse doesn't do that for her. The other mascara I like to use is Maybelline Lash Discovery. I love the brush.
14thanks for your reviews,
15and YES! the Lancome works
pretty well, also and my
lashes
I have never tried that one by Lancome, but def want to try it! I usually use the UD Big Fatty and just ordered it in one of the colors. The Lash Blast is oaky, the brush is just big to work with.
16I've tried Lancome and Mirenesse and they are indeed really good. But one thing I understood when I saw my friend put on the same mascara I had is that the result depends much more on your lashes (thickness, length, shape) than the mascara itself.
I've tried dozens of different mascaras and the best results I got were with Lancome, Rimmel Volume Flash (although slightly too thick for me) and Maybelline Volum' Express and especially Full and Soft, which gives me exactly the same results as Lancome Hypnose.
Oh and I found out only last week that the best way to get thick and long lashes without clumps (at least for me) is to have slightly wet lashes. Not damp, but I'd washed my face just minutes before and I guess the lashes weren't 100% dry yet - the mascara went on really softly and my lashes got an amazing natural curb!
:)
17I'm always on the lookout for brand new mascaras to try, unfortunately there was a sale on Lash Blast, but with such a low price I may have to try it anyways!
18The best I've tried is YSL's 'Effet Faux Cils'. Moviestar lashes for sure. It does absolutely everything it promises and smells like fresh roses.

Another good one is Lancome's Amplicils if you're looking for volume.
Both of these are kinda expensive, my fave of the cheaper products is Maybelline's Great Lash.
19I've heard so many good things on Lash Blast so I'll have to pick that up next time. But I've always used Lancome's mascara. LOVE it.
20I'm a fan of Clinique hight impact mascara.
21I love too faced lash injection it gives u length, volume , no clumps it least i didn't have any clumps i don't know if it curls ur lashes because i already have curled lashes, but i wanted to try the covergirl lash blast but i saw mixed reviews on this product but i had no problems with covergirl mascaras so i think i'm going to try it anyway
22I love lash blast, but now I am using Too Faced Lash Injections, but I do not like the way it comes off in little tubes. Weird!
23I decided to give up Dior Show this month because I felt guilty for spending 25 bucks on mascara, when I know there are perfectly good drugstore brands. But--I've been using Great Lash for the past week and it's so sad. My eyelashes are just not strong enough without the Show!
24geek, I have that same guilt debate! but Diorshow is so fantastic, I keep buying it.
25I purchased the Mirenesse mascara at popsugar's recommendation a few months ago, and it was AWFUL!! I'm now back to using my 3 old favorites: Chanel Inimitable, Benefit Bad Gal Lash and Trish McEvoy's newest mascara...so much better than the lame Mirenesse!
26lash injection, hands down. the most buildable mascara I have ever used- can go from natural and flirty to sultry and dramatic very easily. drama free- not a clump or a flake, ever!!!
27well as i can see from the comments there really is no hands down favorite. same with reviews on makeup alley. which goes to prove that mascara is so hard to buy. there is no holy grail where mascara is concerned. that is why you hear people say that for the money people spend on mascara is ridiculous.
i, of course, say this with my diorshow in my makeup bag.
28i only go for japanese mascaras. i think they're the best for (at least for me)
29My HG mascaras are Prescriptives False Lashes, DiorShow and Lash Blast.
30i agree with the diorshow addicts- ever since i discovered it, its all i use- i think its awesome!
31I still haven't found the perfect mascara. I need to try Diorshow. I keep hearing about it everywhere!
32I have been meaning to buy CG Lash Blast for awhile now... I should pick a tube of it up next time.
I love DiorShow (both regular & waterproof versions), BE Weather Everything Black Mascara and CG Lash Exact in Black/Brown.
33so I have a a drawer full but i recently picked up CG Lash Blast from a recommendation on this site and WOW, I use the blackest in water proof. From YSL that is yes too much and Diorshow OVER RATED and over priced (I used it for a long time too), to MAC Plush Lash (stays in place), Bourjois Clubbing (pretty good for fat lashes that wont budge) oh and also an other great drugstore brand Loreal Architect Blackest in waterproof. I hate great lash but it has it's following.
Can anyone recommend a kohl liner that stays put
34i've tried a lot of different mascaras but my favorite is lash exact by covergirl. it seriously does not clump and my lashes look long and flirty. it's great for everyday wear but maybe not so much for a dramatic look
35I am trying the Lash Blast by Cover Girl ASAP. I'm always on the look-out for the best drugstore makeup as I would rather do major spending on clothes and accessories.
I have to cut back some, right?
36The mascaras I've been most satisfied with are Fiberwig, Majolica Majorca Lash Expander, and Maybelline Volum' Express Hypercurl. I think all 3 of them may have been designed for the Japanese market which is why I've gotten the best results with them. I have the same lash issues as many Asian women -- my lashes are naturally black, but they're rather short and sparse. Any mascara that works by tinting lashes is completely invisible on me. I need volume and length. So the cheap Japanese drugstore mascaras have been pretty good for me, but I've found DiorShow a total waste of money. I bought Diorshow recently (for $40; it's expensive here) because it had so many great reviews on beauty forums and I'm so disappointed by the results that I'm considering throwing it out after 2 weeks and replacing it with one of the trusty $10 drugstore mascaras.
37My first fave is Lancome design lash; it is wonderful at a false eyelash effect. Second is bourjois mascaras; they give great dark full lashes. Then, in third would be Prescriptives False Lashes. However, I am looking to try Too Faced Lash Injection and Dior Show.
38I have always loved Benefit's Bad Gal, but have strayed to MAC's zoom lash of late and it is amazing!
39I just started using Lash Blast and I'm hooked! I love the orange tube and the brush. And my lashes are so lush and full!
40love lash blast and lancome is really great as well. of course, if i can get it for cheap then i'm good to go so lash blash is number one in my heart.
41DIorshow Blackout is always my first pick. But I just picked up a tube of Rimmel Lycra Lash Extender and i really like it...its a different look from Diorshow but works really well for the price. Clinique high impact is good too.
42Has anyone tried Loreal Voluminous mascara? I was thinking of trying it or CoverGirl Lash Blast.
43Has anyone tried Tarte 4 day lash stain?
44Both Lorac and Clinique are great mascaras- and neither company tests on animals (very important, in my book).
45Ok I used the Lash Blast and I liked it BUT you need to try Rimmel Eye Magnefier. Its in a red tube. When I wear this I actually have ppl compliment me on my eyelashes...usually asking if I have on fake ones. So I will swear by this one.
46I have such tiny eyelashes =\, I never know which mascara to use.. theres so many.
47I use XXL maybelline , and also have daring curves from avon.
uptown_girl, I have tried a million mascaras and ALWAYS go back to Voluminous. Only complaint is that it doesn't last that long, but you can often catch it on sale for a great price.
48absolutley love lash blast!!
49Awesome! This came at a great time, since I am on the look-out for a new mascara
