In a parallel universe, GiggleSugar and I would switch places. I laugh at fart videos now and then, and she's really into beauty products. So when she offered to review Clean & Clear's Soft skin care ($6.99–$8.49), how could I say no? I'll let her take it from here:
Not everyone can afford to get a facial or go to a spa, so it's nice to see that Clean & Clear has come out with Soft, a version of their anti-acne line that democratizes luxury skin care. The Soft line, which includes: Steam, an
in-shower facial; Scrub, a gentle exfoliator; and two lotions, Day and Night, promises to make your skin, well, soft, with high-end ingredients like white tea and fruit acids.Of the three products Bella let me try (Day, Steam, and Scrub), I particularly liked Day, the oil-free moisturizer with white tea and natural fruit acids, and Steam, which is a facial with fruit acids you can leave on for one minute while in the shower. I didn't dislike Scrub, but I like exfoliators that have lots of fine grains, and like many drugstore versions, Scrub's grains were average-sized and more dispersed than I prefer.
To find out what Giggle loved (and didn't love) about the line, read more.
When I tried out Steam, I was indeed in the shower (although I doubt this is a hard and fast rule). I loved the clean, perfumey scent, and within seconds of applying the granular cream, my skin began to tingle, in a good, minty way. The instructions suggest for you not to massage it in when applying, but rather to wait until right before you rinse it off. I did this backwards, but the results, I'm sure, weren't affected: my dry, rough skin felt noticeably softer after I rinsed it off, the result you would get from a more expensive mild glycolic acid peel. The Daily Moisturizer had the same, clean scent, and left my skin soft and moisturized but oil-free.
The only drawbacks these products may have for people are their scent (nice but very strong) and the fact that the moisturizer has only SPF 15. I, for one, loved the scent (I have sensitive skin and these products didn't irritate it), and I would wear the moisturizer on my way to the bus rather than before a long day at the beach. All in all, I would use this again and
recommend them.

I really like the idea of the shower minute-facial! I might have to try it!
1These sound interesting - I might try them out when I go home for the summer.
2I tried the shower one and I LOVE IT!
3I own the Day and Night lotions as well as the Stem in-shower facial and I LOVE ALL OF THEM!!!! I'm so glead to read your reviews on it. I have oily and acne-prone skin so I'm very picky about the products I use on my face. I've been using these for about a month now and I don't expect I'll be switching moisturizers or cleansers anytime soon!
4I want to get the shower one. Sounds great!
5I'm getting the shower facial.
6I have the steam facial and i use it every other day and i think it has really made a difference in the way my skin looks and feels. I also have the day lotion but I don't use it alot, b/c I mostly use tinted mositurizer during the day.
7Steam. Okay.
8This is really good to know. I'm really glad to hear that it doesn't irritate sensitive skin.
I like the sound of Steam maybe I'll try it out.
9I've been meaning to try this out, glad she liked it!
10Thanks for the indepth review, these sound great for my daughter and I just might have to use it once in a while too!
11I have the STEAM one and I really like it
12All of the Clean and Clear products I've ever tried left a weird residue on my face? Like they made my face feel greasy afterwards, even though I just washed it. I can't really explain it, so I'll probably be passing on these products.
13the scrub sounds good.
14I use the Steam scrub and the Day lotion a couple times a week. I really like Clean & Clear's products.
15I'm so glad somebody wrote a review of these products!! I have the whole line - all four products, and I love them. I've never used an anti-acne product that improved my skin at the same time before. I love, love, love, love this line!
16i use the steam scrub and indeed, it's like a quick mini-facial while i wash my hair. it sure beats paying $75 for a one-time facial, when this is $6 for the whole container. i haven't tried the other products, but i may.
17i have very acne prone skin and i use the 2 moisturizers every day. I love the light feel and the fact that they are the ONLY moisturizer that doesnt make me break out!
18i love the steam but i prefer my neutrogena spf 45 to the clean clear moisturizer, although it did moisturize well without breaking me out
19I was hoping for a review of the steam facial. I'm still a little leery because my skin is extremely sensitive due to years of prescription acne medication, but I might give it a try. I'll certain read the back of the bottle next time I'm in a store.
20I won't use anything by J&J.
21I'm really interested in the steam and might pick some up when I need a new product.
22I'm all about Burt's Bees facial products now, but these sound okay.
23Bleh. I have the steam product, and it left a slimy residue on my skin that wouldn't wash away, and I finally had to get it off with another soap! Furthermore, it had no "softening" effect on the condition of my skin. (Perhaps because I have such oily skin to begin with?) Thankfully I got it free, and I imagine it's a relatively inexpensive product to begin with, but I can't recommend it at all.
24bought the DAY moisturizer yesterday and i love it so far! very light-weight and didnt leave my skin feeling greasy at all. im interested in buying STEAM though..
25their deep action cream cleanser works wonders for my skin though
I went straight to Walgreens after reading this review and bought Steam. I absolutely love it. I've used it in the shower 3 times now and it does make my face noticeably softer. The only thing I can caution about it is that it does dry out your face considerably (although it does say in the directions to use a moisturizer aftewards) so the two really bad pimples I had peeled a little bit. However, it has cleared these and the rest of my face up. I had been looking at glyco peels for $60-100 and $7 is MUCH more within my price range.
26Hmm..I like the concept of a 1-minute facial. I think I might have to pick some Steam up from Walgreen's during lunch.
27Clean and clear doesn't work on my skin except the persa gel one but maybe i'll try this
28I have never had a facial of any kind before but I have used a mask. I've used th Alba Papaya Enzyme Facial Mask a few times. I quate that with what Steam would be like. The Alba Facial Mask is a decent product but they only recommend you use it 2 times a week. I might like to try these for a change. I've been looking for some new face products since I've been useing Proactive for awhile and while it works I also feel that long term it's too harsh.
29I have the night lotion and had the scrub but it exploded during travel.
Well the scrub was
okay it didn't do much and I had to rise twice to get it all off. The night lotion though is very nice and it has helped clear up my skin to a degree and all in all it looks healthier. I will
most likly try the Steam one but the day moisturizer is too low of SPF for my skin.
30I could see myself using DAY & SCRUB. I have found that even though some of these OTC products are packaged as "systems", all of the components do not suite EVERY skin type. You have to DO what works best for you.
31I really like the STEAM product with one exception. I have sensitive skin and when I used it on my whole face, my cheeks were rather red. So now I only use it on my "T-zone". Overall I think it's a really great product.
32i dont have any of these products and before i got out to get them i cant seem to figure out how much the whole set will cost? Also i have always battled with milled acne just like 5 pimples on my face at all the time no matter what face scrub or wash i use. I am finding it hard to believe that this face scrub will clear them up and keep them clear. Most of the reviews i have read all say good things about this line of products but mostly about the smell and the "tingly feeling" that the shower scrub gives you. Almost every face lotion i have used gives me pimples and does nothing for my mildly greasy face is this the right product for me?
33I tried the in shower facial and it's pretty nice. However I didn't get the chance to try all the other products in the line.
34id like to try the steam...
35I've tried everything except for the Day facial moisturizer. I'm still not entirely sure of the difference between the Day and Night moisturizers.
36I really like Clean and Clear as a brand, I recently purchased their three step Acne treatment and prevention package as an alternative to Proactive ... It has been two days and the results are already noticeable. Best of all its priced reasonably so that a skin care must have doesn't turn into a skincare splurge.
37I have the Steam in-shower facial! It's awesome, I love how soft and smooth it leaves my skin. My face has a beautiful glow about it after I get out of the shower.

39YAY I bought this (steam) just the other day so now I am excited to try it!
