Last Summer, we featured scores of SPF-enhanced tinted moisturizers, and a year later there's a new gaggle of goodies to explore! What I love about tinted moisturizers is that they serve three purposes. They simplify your prep time, since they act as a foundation and a moisturizer; they offer SPF so now you don't have to apply (or worry about) sun protection; and they help even out your skin tone. Below are three SPF tinted moisturizers that I'll think you'll fall madly in love with this Summer.
Just a few weeks ago Chanel launched Hydramax + Active Tinted Lotion SPF 15 ($55), a great alternative to wearing foundation in the heat of the Summer sun. It contains UVA and UVB protection while providing even coverage, a non-greasy feel and a healthy, radiant, almost dewy finish on my skin. I use #15 Sunlit (the medium shade out of the three) and not only do I find it moisturizing and extremely blendable, but I also really like the sweet scent.
La Mer has created The SPF 18 Fluid Tint ($65) in three shades of light, medium, and dark. It's moisturizing, it absorbs quickly, the formula is water-based so it's not oily whatsoever, it contains UVA and UVB protection, plus it's made with crushed gemstones (tourmaline and Brazilian malachite), so it helps give skin a radiant glow.

Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 ($32) is an SPF-enriched moisturizer that feels light yet nourishing on your face. All 10 of the colors are sheer, they blend flawlessly without streaking, and they leave you with an illuminated finish.

There's more tints out there, though...DuWop's Revolution Face...Neutrogena's Glow Sheers...even Laura Mercier's regular and oil free formulas - and they all have SPF. What about them?
1I love tinted moisturizer... and I love that there's so many options now. It used to be impossible to find anything with sheer coverage! Or sunblock. So yay on both counts!
2These sound nice, but they're all waaay too expensive for me!
3I'm thinking about trying the philosophy one - anyone use that?
4LOVE the stila one!!!
5The Stila one is awesome.
6I use Benefit's You Rebel - and I LOVE it
7I am a tinted moisturizer lover because I usually do not wear makeup, just this and lip gloss- so I have tried a ton of them! My favorite so far is the Stila Oil-Free TM SPF 30 (like the one above, but in higher SPF). I have oily skin, and this makes it look and feel nice and not too oily. The LORAC, Clinque, and Laura Mercier ones were too oily for me. The Philosophy one only comes in one color and was too dark and too orange for my skin. Smashbox's one is supposedly really good, but SPF 15 is too low for me (I have fair skin, live in Los Angeles, and have a convertible so I want to be sure I am protected
), but if spf 15 is good for you I
suggest looking at that one.
8I agree with ehadams. I have the one she is talking about. It is really good.
9love Stila and keep wanted to try Laura Mercier, but Bella you've got to rate the drugstore brands, too.
10I was just going to order the new one by smashbox, it looks great.
11It's really crucial for me to have more than 3 color choices. Usually I'm between the light and the medium.
12Bobbi Brown's is my fav
13I LOVE tinted moisturizer...my favorite is by Elizabeth Arden, called Sheer Lights Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 15. I've been using it for about 5 years and am hooked.
I think the Stila one is pretty nice too.
14Brittanyk- Jane cosmetics also make a tinted moisturizer that's SPF 30. It only comes in 3 shades, but it's pretty good stuff and I've never seen it for more than 5 bucks a tube. I know they sell it at Walgreens.
15thanks.... Bella
16because foundation
in the hot weather
is no fun, so I'm
going to looks
for this....
I really like the Stila illuminating tinted moisturizer spf 15 too
17I love Stila and Chanel products.
18My favorite so far is Benefit You Rebel Lite (I am pale), it has spf 15 and it is a great one!
19i use and LOVE the le mer tinted moisturizer.
20it blends so beautifully.
I love Stila's tinted moisturizer. I used it all summer last year. I'm atually looking forward to using a tinted moisturizer this summer. Sometimes, even powdered foundation feels heavy to me...
21I purchased the Stila a few weeks ago. I loved the shade range for darker skin tones.
22Out of these i'd try the one by Stila, but i've always wanted to try benefit's you rebel too. This is going to be a tough choice for me.
23Has anyone tried Kiehls?
24I have the Stila one and I really don't care for it. If you have sensitive skin, it does nothing to reduce redness.
25I love Cosmedicine's Honest Face. It moisturizes more than average and the shade range seems pretty good! I used to have trouble and need to use a moisturizer underneath my tinted moisturizer...ha...no more!
26Man, if I could afford it, I would go for the Chanel Precision or La Mer ... actually I could afford it but I've got other priorities hehe! Maybe I will go for Benefit instead, though I find Benefit products quite greasy.
27it is important to consider a tinted moisturizer that contains a broad, full spectrum sun protection. The SPF number just refers to UVB rays which are just how long it takes for YOUR skin to burn and how much longer you can stay in the sun without burning.
i think what most of us are far more concerned about is long term sun damage (i.e., wrinkling, cancer) are caused by UVA rays. in the u.s., this is not measured and stated on the label. an informed consumer must examine the ingredients and look for avobenzone, zinc oxide, or titanium dioxide.
for example, i LOVE laura mercier's tinted moisturizer with spf, it does not contain adequate UVA protection so i must add another layer if i want to assure myself a harm free day in the sun.
i'm now quite find of becca luminizing tint because of it's color range and sun protection.
and now, i'll get off my soap box.
28I used to use the Smashbox Backdrop, and I liked it until I tried the Lorac ProtecTint. I was able to find a much better match and it is lighter and less greasy.
29I just bought the chanel moisturizer and its amazing!!! smells really good! its kind of priceyy.. but so worth it!
