Purses everywhere will soon be abuzz with vibrating mascaras — or so two beauty companies hope. WWD reported on a new Estée Lauder lash-builder this morning. Shortly thereafter, Lancôme announced the upcoming launch of its competing product. I guess the race is on to introduce the first genre of vibrating mascaras to the masses. So far, it's Estée Lauder 1, Lancôme 0. I'll score round two as soon as I can take them out for a spin.
In July, Estée Lauder will launch TurboLash All Effects Motion Mascara ($30) exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue. The vibration of this battery-operated brush promises to separate lashes to avoid clumping.
Lancôme's version, Ôscillation, is due out in stores this Fall. The brush vibrates 7,000 times per minute, claiming to provide 360-degree coverage around each lash. It was created by Jean-Louis Guéret, who has developed almost 400 (!) mascaras in his lifetime. Lancôme is still working out an exact launch date and a price, so we'll all have to wait with bated breath before we buzz.
Are you excited or a little bit scared to test out these new vibrating mascaras?

both.... i think
1Bella, but sounds
interesting.....
Can wait to hear
the reviews......
weird. it vibrates?
2Sounds dangerous and messy! I've gotten over my troubles with not getting mascara on my lid! Imagine with this?!?!
3That seems like a waste of effort to me. Just wiggle the brush a little.
4Interesting. But I probably won't try these out. Mascara's the one cosmetic item I don't splurge on, as my lashes are already pretty long, thick and dark.
5I've seen the rotating brush at target.... that seems a little weird.....
6ahah that sounds so cool!!
7I totally love what I use and can not imagine switching, but this vibration idea is def not my cup of tea.
8hmm.. I dont know about this one, I mean you can use a cheapest mascara, and use a good lash comb , it will give you clump free lashes.
9Ummm sounds like a gimmick, to me. Vibrating things are so in right now. Actually I can only think of one other example: vibrating razors. If it alwayalwayALWAYS left me clump-free, I'd consider buying it. Clumps are the worst and I'm horrible at de-clumpifying.
10400 mascaras? I didn't realize that there were that many options
11Just spring for a lash comb. Or take a tester macara wand from Sehpora. Cheaper, probably less messy, and not gimmicky and wasteful.
12It'd have to be a really thick formula to not fly off the wand when you turn on the vibrate. And thick to me = clumps, whether you try to shake them off with a battery operated brush or not.
13Haha sounds rather dirty to me. These people have too much time on their hands.
14omg, thats going to be great
15I can never get my eyelashes big enough.. (moving the brush from side to side helps them look fuller without sticking together.. i think thats why they made this vibrating brush.. just incase your were wondering)
hmmm..wonder if it will cause little splatter ...that may become some crazy trend..I am curious abt it thu
16I think these things are pointless. If you don't know how to apply mascara to get the desired effect than this is not going to help you.
17I'm happy with just wiggling my brush - I don't need a new way to put something in my eye.
18cool I want to try this !!!!!!
19Ha! My sister and I have been saying for years that we should invent a vibrating mascara wand. I'll try it out, at least.
20Vibrating mascara? I mean, I'll give it a try, but I'm not sure what he point is. SpinLash worked pretty well, actually (better than my lash comb), but it wasn't vibrating - it just spun...
21I'll pass on this one. It just seems like a big gimmick. I'd rather shell out for that Diorshow mascara i've beem wanting to try that everyone seems to love.
22J'adore, DIOR!!
23I can barely get mascara on my eyelashes as it is without getting it on my face (I'm not very nimble with my hands at all). I'll stick with the regular stuff for now.
24Goodness me I hope there aren't any injuries. I mean someone could poke themselves in the eye and sue for damages. Not one for me.. but I may purchase it and then put it in a time capsule for later generations to stare at ;0)
25what?!
26sounds like a freak accident about to happen.
27Um, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle. Omg I just saved $25!! And it only took 2.5 seconds of my time....
28hmmm weird but i must try
29That is the stupidest idea I have ever heard of. I have no respect for anybody who buys that.
30I am SO not interested in anything like this. I'll stick with my Great Lash, thanks.
31What a waste of money.
32Props to Estee Lauder for being the first. I'll leave the vibrations alone though and stick with DiorShow BlackOut.
33Lancôme mascaras are amazing. So it's only because Lancôme is putting out one that I'm not dismissing the idea outright but until that one comes out and I can test it in store I'm sticking w/ Neutrogena Healthy Volume mascara which is GREAT.
