Well, that didn't last long. Keira Knightley, who last year replaced Kate Moss as the face of Coco Mademoiselle perfume, is being replaced herself! Chanel's new pick is 18-year-old Emma Watson, best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies. The Telegraph reports that Emma will earn a hefty £3 million (almost six million dollars) for her two-year contract.
I love Emma, but this news is a little bit surprising. While Coco Mademoiselle is among Chanel's "younger" fragrances, I don't think I would have worn it as a teenager. It's fresh and beautiful, but it has a sophisticated edge that works best on someone a few more years out of girlhood. Emma will probably work some of her magic for the brand, but do you think it's a good fit?
Update: My friends at Off The Rack report that the whole thing is untrue.

She's definitely too young for this... and lacks something... French chic?!
1Yay! British sophistication it is!
2I love Emma, too, and I love 'Mademoiselle,' but I don't think she's the image of sexy sophistication that I get with that fragrance. Odd choice...
3I dunno...I think she will pull it off!
4She is a very talented very smart yougn lady
she is about 19ish so maybe she's trying to change the way the public see her...as hermione
5Bleh, Keira was also really boring. So first we had boring, now we have dull. Yuck.
6She's wearing a lot of Chanel couture to events so maybe she's had the times for a long time. Maybe Chanel is trying to widen their demographic. After all, I don't think there's mayne Chanel perfumes except for Coco Mademoiselle that would appear to many women under the age of 20.
7i think she can pull it off, i'm young and i love coco mademoiselle...but its weird they would oust keira knightley like that...
8I think she's a little too young to become the spokesperson for Coco Mademoiselle, I think that it's a little more sophisticated of a scent than what the average 18 year old would wear (or could afford).
9I think she can pull it off...she's gorgeous.
10I think she is a great match. 18-19 isn't really that young. Most models are younger than that, and this is supposed to be a young perfume.
11Um ... isn't this like some Internet rumor? I just read that Chanel denies it 100%.
12Bengalspice, I worried that it was a rumor, too, but the Telegraph — a legitimate newspaper — reported it, so at that point I believed it to be true. Ah, journalism. Sigh.
13I think she would fabulous for the campaign. She always looks so classy on the red carpet.
14I think she will do fine, but i'm sad to see Keira go, I loved her ads she's so beautiful. Can't wait to see what they churn out with Emma. She's also a very pretty girl.
I've never even smelled this scent before, now i'm really curious.
15if is true...
16good for her
this could be
a good chance,
to grow up and
the experience
I'm a fan of Emma Watson, but girly-girl has waaaaaay too much make-up on in this photo. She has a pretty face and does not need to cover it up with all that dark make-up.
17She's cute but I don't know if she can pull it off. Personally I think Kate Moss and Keira Knightly are ugly.
18I think she's much healthier-looking than either of the other two! Definitely a step i nthe right direction. And 18 is college-age, not that young. I agree wholheartedly that she is wearing too much blush, specifically, in this picture.
19I think she'll do fine. Kind of refreshing to see someone different with Chanel. Its always some run of the mill model or actress, so I'm pretty excited for this one.

....thats 2 bad... replacing Keira Knightley!! she did really well in her Chanel pictures and
stuff.....i love Emma she is gorgeous but i dont think she is the type for the Chanel contract!!! Keira was 'da best!!!
21I think she's too young, I never saw this perfume as a teen scent but more of an early to mid twenties perfume. Even that is pushing it, because it has an edge that is hard to wear for most younger women. It seems fruity perfumes are all the rage until you get to 25...and Chanel is no where near fruity. I see someone like Kate Beckingsale or Natalie Portman as the model for this one.
22Keira always bored me to be honest, she lacked spark, she has maybe 3 facial expressions in total. (Soz, just do not like her much at all.)
And while I have no problem per se with Emma, I have a hard time believing Chanel picked her, it seems an ill fit and she seems too young and unsophisticated. (Seems even a "young" Chanel perfume should have someone a bit more chic?)
I'd have used Sophie Ellis Bextor before either one of them. She has a lot of style and charm, she seems considerably more chic, and a face that manages to be both unusual and pretty.
23I think she'd be perfect! I was 17 when CoCo Mademoiselle came out and wore it for about a year and my friends still say it reminds them of me! I tried to switch to Chanel's other younger fragrance, Chance, the following Christmas when it came out but it never smelled nearly as good on me!
24hmmm....not sure. Maybe they should just get kate back?!
25I would like to see Emma on new role
26she's have a talents
