Last week I met a high-powered executive who told me that she can’t be bothered with creams, potions, and all the hype of makeup. She claims that her only indulgence is a weekly deep-conditioning treatment and that her total primping time is 15 minutes (shower included).
I almost believed her until she took off her sunnies and revealed a set of shiny, long lashes. I asked her if they were extensions, and she said, "Yes, $300 and two hours will get you this low-maintenance look." We both laughed, but clearly she was embarrassed.
I see nothing wrong with getting eyelash extensions — especially not after my experience with them. They last long, they look beautiful, and you never ever have to worry about applying or taking of your mascara. If you can afford it, I say why not? What's your take on eyelash extensions?

I don't need them, I was lucky enough to be born with super long lashes.
But hey if somebody really wants them, why not? I see nothing wrong with getting them.
1I would never personally get them. I like my lashes to begin with. Plus, I am so squeamish with people touching around my eye that I would not be able to sit through it. I'd also be worried that they'd come out unnatural looking, and I'd feel really weird if people were to compliment me, I'd feel like a fraud I guess haha.
2I know someone who got traction alopecia from getting hair extensions because the weight of the extensions put a lot of stress on her actual hair. She still has bald spots.
So I don't think I would ever get any kind of extensions lash or otherwise.
3After having worked at a salon/spa and actually booked appointments for lash extensions, I'd say they're a little too high maintenance/pricey to be a regular thing for me. You have to get lash fills religiously and use special make-up removers, etc. Plus my eyes are really sensitive...
4But they can look really pretty and I can see how some people would make the investment.
I already have long lashes so I won't be needing these. And the price is too expensive for my taste.
5Heck no! What a waste of money imo!
6I could find an awesome tube of mascara for less than $10 that would have the same effect, at least on me. Luckily, I have pretty long/full lashes.
7I have them in right now, courtesy of the fact that I work at a plastic surgery office w/ a medical esthetician that does them. I LOVE them. I've had them in for 1.5 mo's, with one touch up last week. No more makeup smudges under my eyes, I feel more "pretty" after taking off my makeup at night, snorkeling at the local beaches is a breeze, with no makeup needed to look great/nor spider lashes at the beach- a definite no-no.
The thing is, you have to do your research on the person applying the lashes. They should have had professional training, at least a years experience, have multiple types of lashes to offer for every different eye/hair type. The glue is still comprised of chemicals, so you should feel confident that the person putting it so close to your eyeball knows what they are doing. The individual applied lashes fall out as my natural eyelashes shed on their own.
A helpful hint? Contact lens wearers should take out their lenses first.
8I COMPLETELY plan on doing this again for my trip to Puerta Vallarta in October!
I wouldn't, to be honest, because for $11 every three months and 2 minutes of time every day, I can get great results from a tube of mascara.
9I've had them and they were fabulous. The problem was that they fell out twice as quickly as they should have. The technician warned me not to use an oil-based makeup remover and I bought the one they recommended, but the lashes still fell out. We traced the problem to my rich eye cream and the technician put on a new set of lashes. It happened AGAIN. I gave up. Was it my moisturizing cream? My hair conditioner? Who knows! At any rate I can't give up every single product that might contain a bit of oil just for the sake of amazing lashes.
10I wasn't blessed in the eyelash department and I would definitely consider getting them for a big event like a wedding. I've tried ever mascara on the market and nothing works. If it makes you feel and look better why not?
11i rather use fake lashes
12I don't find mascara to be that time consuming, it's actually my favorite part of makeup application.
13I think I would, I only wear moisturizer, mascara and lip balm as is so removing the mascara step wouldn't really effect anything.
14However, it would be hard for me to put down my Diorshow!! I look forward to it almost every morning!
...the salon where I style my hair does it. I have seen a few cleints doing it..it looks really cute ! I love mascara too much to try thu =p
15Applying and removing mascara really doesn't bother me so i'm not interested in this. I'd rather use that money toward something else, like laser hair removal. But I say go for it if you have the money & really want 'em though.
16Definitely not. There's no way I'd let someone put little filaments near my eyes. It's guaranteed that they'd wind up breaking off and getting stuck in my contacts. I can't even use those fiber mascaras.
17I was born with really long lashes too, but in the past 5 years, probably due to mascara overload!! they have gone bad, all short and certainly not glossy. I would def. get eyelash extensions!! And a whole load of other stuff done as well !!!!
18I had them before - I paid $75 to have them put in. They looked nice, but they were so long that I couldn't wear my glasses properly anymore! When they come out they may take a natural lash or two with them so well, so be forewarned.
I'd recommend individual false lashes for special occasions instead.
One of my ex boyfriends told me that my eyelashes were his favorite feature of mine. I think since then I've spent way too much time on them.
19Lucky me I have long lashes, but if I didn't - no way - I don't want some strange stuff around my eyes. Mascara is just perfect for me.
20If they lasted long enough that it would equal out to the same price as my CoverGirl Lash Exact for $7/tube that I purchase every 2-3 months.. then I would. Otherwise no.
21I did it once, and it was really nice. I don't really need them, but it went good with my look at the time. My sister gets them because she has blonde eyelashes.
22WTF... People actually blow money on this sh!t?
23I guess if that is what you really want, but there are so many fun mascaras out there now that I couldn't imagine not being able to use or play with them!
24I wouldn't, because my lashes are very long, black and curled to perfection as they are (hehe, sorry to boast
). I've gone to various make-up stores to get some fun sample make-up done (Douglas, MAC) and all the makeup artists kept commenting on my lashes, they said I was
ready to shoot for a mascara ad without any mascara on
It made me feel really good.
If I got these extensions I would probably look like an alien.
But seriously, I think they're a bit too expensive as well. Nothing a bit of Great Lash can't do, and that's four bucks.
25i would get the extensions if they were cheaper
26Don't need them...I have very long lashes as it is!
But my best friend just got this done for her wedding...it looks nice, seems like kind of a waste of money to me though.
27My friend got them, they looked really hot, but her eyes were watering constantly! I'd skip them. I love applying mascara, makes me feel like a lady!
28No, it's just not something I would want. I like applying and trying mascara, so extensions aren't interesting to me.
29i have eyelash extensions in right now!!! they are definitely worth the money!!! they look completely natural and they're easy to take care of! just be careful of the makeup remover you use! my mom even has them in, so when someone asks me where i got my long eyelashes from, i can say, "from my mother!" lol.
30i don't need them with my long dark lashes. but i wouldn't be opposed to it if i didn't have my lashes.
31I'd love to!
32sounds like an infection waiting to happen
33plus, stuff as tame as waterproof mascara can cause eyelashes to fall out and grow back less and less, this is probably worse
and kahribar, i'm sure you can still use mascara with extensions, you can even still use mascara with fakeys
34Why does waterproof make lashes fall out? I've used it for years and don't see any problems w/lashes falling out. Just curious.
35I was given long choppy lashes, which are a nightmare. Ever so often, I wake up with my eyelashes tangled together, which hurts, a lot. And god forbid if I forget to curl them before using mascara! They would just stick together and my makeup would eventually smudge from me trying to desperately detangle my lashes. Extensions sound nice, but I'm too traumatized from my choppy lashes to even consider it!
36I don't really need them
37Please correct the grammar error, "or taking of your mascara"
