These shaving creams worked for my dad, and they still work for me. When I began shaving in my early teens, I used these with a single blade razor. Nowadays, I use a four-blade razor for sensitive skin, and these creams work even better without breaking the bank. I’m a firm believer in splurging in some areas and saving in others, and these drugstore brands have never let me down. Do you have a brand preference when it comes to shaving creams?
Edge Advanced Shaving Gel For Sensitive Skin ($3.23) OK, so this isn't the most feminine product that I own, but I've been using this gel-to-cream formula for ages and I love the texture and the masculine scent. Also, this slightly new and improved formula contains aloe to help soothe even the most sensitive skin.
Barbasol Shaving Cream ($2.49) is the one, the original, the very first shaving cream I ever used. Not only did I love using this thick and creamy formula on my legs, but while at Summer camp, I'd write my bunk number on the lawn outside of the mess hall. I was a happy camper.

Wow, I used to love the smell of this Skintimate Moisturizing Shave Gel For Dry Skin ($3.14). I still use the product because it's gentle and provides a smooth shave that never skips and causes nicks. It also leaves my legs feeling silky smooth and moisturized. It's like I'm wearing pantyhose, when I've got nothing on.

I like Skintimate, but I'm not fussy about it--I'll use body wash or plain old soap if I've run out, and they seem to work just as fine.
1aveeno is my favorite, im a brunette and it has actually turned the hair on my legs and armpits blond and thin!
2I used Edge for sensitive skin. Even though it's marketed towards men, it works awesomely on me. Plus, my fiance will actually use it too which eliminates me from having two kinds in the shower
3*use not used
4i use Edge, the girly ones smell too strong for my taste.
5I use Skintimate when I shave with a regular razor, but I switched to Venus Breeze a little over a year ago, and I ADORE not having to mess about with shaving cream.
6I used to use Skintimate but switched to the Target brand - cheaper and I like it
7I defo agree, if you want luxurious legs use a fancy moisturiser, shave cream is shave cream. I am partial to the Gillette ones or Lush's Prince shave cream which is rich in Neroli oil and smells sooo good!
8I use Barbasol and borrow hubby's edge when I run out.
Greatest thing ever for shaving though: exfoliate right before you shave. It eliminates the extra drag on your skin and reduces razor burn (for me at least). If you don't have an exfoliant you can use granulated sugar and some soap. It works perfect and doesn't leave a sticky residue at all.
9My dad used to use Barbasol, before he grew his beard. We used to spread it on the kitchen table and practice spelling words with our fingers. Barbasol brings back childhood memories.
10For drugstore choice, I prefer Skin Milk shaving milk. Otherwise, I like Zirh shaving cream.
11I've discovered hair conditioner works just as well as shaving cream. Really cuts down on razor bumps especially under the arms.
12I love Nivea for men...
13I use Skintimate, but whatever's on sale is fine with me really.
14I like Skintimate. Barbasol smells like old men to me, yuck.
15I use Alba Botanica Coconut Cream Shave...it seems like you're putting hair conditioner on your legs (that's the consistency, maybe a little thicker), but it works so well and smells heavenly.
16i can't use the mens stuff. The mint or menthol in it makes my skin break out plus when I shave my bikini line it makes it really sensitave and lets just say it doesn't have a good feeling lol.
I use skintamate
17i use nivea for men....its one of the few drugstore brands that don't test on animals...plus the scent is great

20sorry i didnt mean to post a bunch of times
21I LOVE SKINTIMATE TOO! I USE THE ANTHONY SHAVE CREAM I GOT FOR MY BOYFRIEND. THAT'S LIKE THE GREATEST THING EVER BASICALLY. I'M ADDICTED. ONE OF THE REPS DID A DEMO ONCE FOR ME THAT INVOLVED PUTTING SOME OF THE SHAVE CREAM IN THEIR HAND TURNING IT PALM DOWN THEN STICKING A PENCIL IN THE SHAVE CREAM. IT TOTALLY STUCK. IT PULLS YOUR HAIR AWAY FROM YOUR SKIN SO YOU GET A REALLY CLOSE SHAVE. MAYBE IT'S CRAZY BUT I CAN'T GET ENOUGH!
22hey spazzydana, is that normal? because I want my body hair to be lighter - it's really dark brown. anyhoo, I actually got turned off shaving cream and now only use soap - it leaves my skin a lot more smooth...
23Yeah I don't use shave creams, I put conditioner on my legs, let it sit for a few minutes, then get to it. It really, really works well for me and helps you cut down on all the bottles in your shower. Out of the shower, I finish with some dry oil and I'm good to go.
24I like Aveeno.
25Wow! I have sensitive skin and have always wondered about men's shaving cream. I figured it should work b/c guys use it on their faces... Guess I'll have to steal my brothers from now on lol!
26I love skintimate! but I used it with a crappy razor when I was in a hurry and it didn't protect my legs from getting torn up. Now that I have a venus embrace i don't think itd matter what shaving cream or lotion i use!
27oh and there's this stuff called coochie cream! It's amazing for shaving bikini lines and i even know guys that use it for their face! while using it i've never once had a dry spot and any smidge of razor burn. it's like using conditioner to shave your legs but more protective.
28I don't use shaving cream. I find using cheapie conditioner (Suave) works best for my dry skin.
29Cmill38, I love coochie cream, I used it if I haven't shaved my legs in a while or on my underarms because it's sensitive skin.
30I love using mens shaving cream, it works wonders but cheap conditioner is fantastic in a pinch- same stuff as coochie cream.
I agree with ElisabethRae, exfoliating before you shave cuts back on all the problems that come with shaving and also gives you a closer shave- I work at BBW and I recommend women to use the oil based scrubs from the Aromatherapy line, good scrub/moisturizing.
I started using shaving creams for men not so long ago. My favourite one for ladies unfortunately changed its formula. I couldn't relate to the others on the market
so why not try out the ones for men?
Nivea for men sensitve shaving gel was my second try and I will stay by it. I love it. The texture is quite compact and it stays on your skin very well. The smell is nice and very discreet which I prefer. It is sensitive enough for my dry&sensitive skin - for every zone. I also like its convenient to use package.
31I love skintimate (the mango one) and I just switched to the Venus Embrace for sensitive skin. This razor is amazing!! I love it. Very few nicks and it gets a nice smooth shave.
32skintimate is my fave!! its all I will buy, if its not in stock, I go to another store for it!
33Coochie cream?
:ROTF:
34i use the Trader Joes shave cream, no parabens etc.
35I normally use Noxzema's Cucumber Melon scent. Recently I tried out Satin Care's Alluring Avocado. I'm not a fan of the brand, but it smells really good leaves my legs soft.
36Men's shaving cream makes you smell like a man. Not in a good way.
37I use whatever is on sale or conditioner in a pinch. This might freak some of you out, but I used to shave with just water in the shower and never got razor burn or cuts. However, my current shower makes it difficult to hike up a leg in the shower spray, so anything to put a barrier between my skin & the razor works.
38I have to have a gel formula, I can't use a foam. Right now I have a Intuition with the soap already on it and I don't need shave gel at all. It's a little harder in the summer when you're sweaty and sticky because my legs are more sensitive.
39I love using men's shaving creams! I swear by Gillette's one for sensitive skin. It's way cheaper than women's versions and you get a lot more in the can!
40pfft...i use my dad's shaving cream all the time. $1.99 for barbasol beats $5.99 for gilette for women ANY DAY
41i have to agree, coochie cream is KING!!
42Barbasol is my favorite cuz it lathers so well! I'm always stealing my boyfriend's...But in a pinch, I'll use Aveda's Rosemary Mint Conditioner too, it's nice and cooling and smells great.
