There aren't many makeup products that leave me feeling totally ickified, but Urban Decay's De-Slick Mattifying Powder ($28) is one of them. Everything from the application method to the way it looks and feels on your face is a colossal disaster.
The hard-pressed light lavender (although it claims to be translucent) powder is difficult to get onto your brush, so you are pretty much forced to use the puff that comes inside. The powder feels chalky to the touch and doesn't spread well. In fact, because it's so oil-absorbent, it makes your skin feel dry, almost like it's cracking.
I was really bummed with the results, because I like a mattifier for my T-zone from time to time, and a powder compact in a cute purple case seemed like a great solution. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that unless you are going for a Bride of Dracula, Dita Von Teese, super-matte, pale face look (or if you happen to be someone with extremely oily skin), I'd steer clear of this powder.

4Are you serious? This is the best thing I've ever used, personally. This is VERY dark girl friendly as well. I found that it spread easily on my skin, and it absorbed oil pretty damn well. And I have a olive-y, medium deep skintone, and I was left with NO white cast. My skin looks BETTER after using it. Sorry it didn't work for you!

5Wow I think that's the worse review i've ever read on a beauty product. Another not so great review comes to mind from another blog, it was on the UDPP.
I use Mac's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural for my t-zone. It works well for me. Lately i've been using Cliniques blotting papers too so I don't powder my face too much.
6I'll add to the litany of "I was thinking about this..." - in fact, I almost bought it in Ulta earlier today! Thankfully I splurged on some Stila shadows instead!

8The powder blends well and sucks up my oilness. I love this product and it is one of the few that I tote everywhere with me. I have pale skin that tans easily and I only notice a whiteness if I have glommed too much on my face.

9WHOO! Thanks Kyley! That the only time when I notice whitetoo! I actually don't care to use a brush with it, and prefer the sponge because it helps blot the oil - which is what its for anyways. Next to MSFN, its the only powder that doesn't get cakey or ashy when I apply it in layers.
10Count me in with Kyley and sarahPuffy!!! This is actually one of my all time favorite products. People always compliment me on my skin just after I blot with this powder.

It is ludicrous, not to mention irresponsible, to scathingly review a product made for a different skin type with the basic reasoning being you hated it because it did what it's supposed to do.
Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder tried to tell you the consumer to whom it was directed. The words "De-Slick," "Mattifying" and "Powder" were supposed to clue you in.
IT'S MADE FOR OILY PEOPLE. REALLY OILY PEOPLE. Bloggers whose self-description includes looking for something to mattify the "t-zone from time to time," are not "slick" and do not require mattifying.
And no, I'm not Urban Decay's mother, I just find it odd to see so many readers give an obviously misguided review such credence.

13I'm not sure why people are getting so up in arms about this. If she didn't like the product, she didn't like the product. It's just a review, which is just one person's opinion.
If the product worked for you, that's great! But it's still Bella's prerogative to do the review in whatever manner she wants.
14I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this product. It works perfectly for me. And though yes, the review was the opinion of the reviewer, it's on a website dedicated to inform readers of make-up. And to be frank, it really was a very biased review. I love my de-slick and apparently others do to.

If, as a really pale person, I then hopped up onto my cosmetic soapbox and gave a negative review of Fashion Fair foundation in Sable because it didn't blend in to my skin properly, my review would be misplaced. Just a tad.

17Hey SarahPUFFY, thanks for that, I bought this today because of your recommendation. My skin is going crazy at the minute with hormones and this really made a difference today!
18I find sometimes the much cheaper "who knew" product is the best. In the summer I find myself with a little more "shine" than I want, but I didn't want something too cakey and so forth.
I pickes up NYC translucent powder compact at Walmart and it's perfect for me and it was CHEAP. I know some people assume if it's cheap it won't work or be bad for your skin but it's hardly either. I would recommend it for people who just want a little something to combat shine.
19The lavender color really turns me off from this product and anyway I hardly ever get the greasies. I love the compact, it's so cute.
20I have combination skin but once i have applied sun screen i am REALLY SHINY. I am hoping this product will matt away the shine. Peoples comments have helped me decide to try this product as i am pale so not worried about it being too pale for me.
