I was surprised to discover that so many of you dislike Revlon. I'm a huge fan of the brand's nail polish, and now that Gucci Westman works there, things are looking up.
Last time I went to Walgreens, I picked up two items from the Beyond Natural collection: the Skin Matching Makeup ($13.99) and Protective Liptint ($8.49). All of the colors in this collection are on the natural side — lots of earth tones, partying like Al Gore in 2004 — and both of the products I tried have SPF 15. So far, so good.

So, just like Almay's Smart Shade concealer, the Skin Matching Makeup has a color-changing formula. It comes out of the tube white, then changes color when blended. I wish companies would stop trying to trick consumers by implying that these chameleon products will magically match your skin, but that and a dollar will buy a cup of truck-stop coffee. Putting the presto change-o aspect of it aside, this is a great tinted moisturizer. It provides full-spectrum protection thanks to titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, but it doesn't have even a hint of the evil white streakiness that can show up with those ingredients. And although it doesn't provide much coverage, the color itself is free of the pink undertones that ruin so many drugstore formulations.
As for the Protective Liptint? It has a smooth, lightweight formula that left my lips feeling soft, but I chose the wrong color. I expected Rosy to be rather pink, but instead it's a too-bright coral that makes me feel like Blanche Devereaux. Next time, I'll try a more neutral shade. Overall, though, I'm pleased with these products; they're great for low-maintenance Summer style.

The Protective Lip tint sounds like something I'd like, although, I admit, I can't get over the price tag. Almost $10 for lip color from a drug store is crazy. If you would have spent a couple more dollars you could have gone to a MAC counter, found a lipstick, and tried it on. That really bothers me.
1I bought the Pink liptint and i felt the same way about it. I expected it to be just pink tinted, but its flat-out bright pink! I still like the formula, but the color is a bit too bright.
2There is nothing wrong with looking like Blanche! I hope to be as devastating and fashionable as her when I'm in my fifties.
It looks like Revlon is finally starting to compete with the other brands by finally making mineral powders, etc.

5I just toyed around with those products yesterday, while I was going through the drugstore on a mini makeup haul.
6I like the fact that there's no pink undertones in that sheer foundation/makeup. The problem with so many foundations, in my opinion, is that when they say "For Cool Skin" the pink undertones simply enhance and bring out the pink in my skin!
Bella, do you think you could do an article on cool/warm/neutral skin tones please? Or do you have a good trick for this?

7I just got the foundation, and I'm surprised that it actually matched my skin tone-usually drugstore foundations are too orange on me. The only thing is that it's sheerer than I expected.

11I'm wondering if the foundation will 'work' for dark skin. Almay's version doesn't even come in a brown tone. Did they forget that Black girls like makeup, too?

13AmisMama - I just came back from buying Revlon Natural Primer and Foundation, I bought the 'Deep' shade. I have medium caramel coloured skin with a yellow undertone and different shades to it. As soon as I got home I washed my face and tried the products as per the instructions. It looks absolutely horrible
I've had it on for 30 minutes. In the store the tester looked great on the back of my hand (of course), but the darker shades on my chin and under my eyes are a
horrible grey colour.
I paid $14.98 EACH for the primer and foundation. What a waste of money! The product that has worked best for me is Maybelline Mineral foundation, only problem is the stores in my area are always out of stock of my shade. If you haven't already, try that one instead.

16I don't really like Revlon foundations. Their mascara is okay and I like some of their lipgloss and nail polish but the foundation is to heavy.
