PlantLove™ Botanical Lipstick by Cargo, $20, is so many different fabulous things all rolled into one. Cargo believes that saving the environment is imperative for protecting our future generations. They are donating two dollars from the profits of every tube of lipstick to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Here's more about the formula and the packaging:
- First there is the tube which is made out of corn. This means that it is 100% biodegradable and corn grows back in 100 days, not 100 million years which is what it takes to renew the petroleum that is usually used when made from plastic.
- Then there is the box which is made from eco friendly paper that contains seeds. All you have to do is wet the carton, plant it in a sunny place and wait for wildflowers to grow!
- Lastly there is the lipstick that contains soothing and nourishing shea butter, jojoba and meadowfoam seed oil. It glides on smooth and is infused with orchid so it smells good! The lipstick also contains no mineral oil or petroleum and is available in 12 shades.

This sounds fascinating and appealing, but I hardly ever wear actual lipstick anymore. I'm more of a gloss girl.
How do they look on? Are they thick and creamy, or light and sheer?
1im with Whip..i prefer gloss, but those viles that the lipsticks come in are really cute!!
2"Its perfectly normal to have girl crushes"
Gotta love Old School Brit!
I am a gloss girl as well but I have to say sometimes a lipstick is more appropriate.
I bought the Lindsay (because of the color, not the celeb) and the color is a perfect, non-frosty, lighter pink. It's the 2nd from the left in the picture above.
The lipstick is medium-to-light coverage and does feel good on the lips.

3It is helping in two ways: one by protecting the environment and another by donating money to a children's research hospital. And the colors look good to boot! I like the one on the far right myself!
4Is Lindsay really a "green" celeb? I mean I think it's great that she let them use her name for the cause, but I don't know if I have seen her do anything environmental.
5I saw these in the Sephora catalog, and the Evangaline Lilly color looks really pretty
I love this! More companies in general sound make more products like this...
6Thanks, BaltimoreGal - I love the idea of this lipstick but wouldn't want to buy it without hearing what it's actually like on the lips.
Medium to light coverage sounds perfect! I may very well try this!
7i thing Cargo is definitely headed in the right direction....mayfair is right, more companies should be doing their part, even small changes make a difference. its funny because right now in my environmental issues class, we are working on projects to help "solve" the current energy crisis. i might scratch my whole plan and just suggest that women switch to cosmetics with biodegradable packaging. :- )
8I love a good excuse to support a good cause
9That's very cool! And I like that for once its green and not made out of soy!
10Anytime, WhiplashGirlchild!
11I keep meaning to put up more product reviews- maybe someday!
Do more product reviews, baltimore! I prefer actual useful information about WEARING the product. I wonder if the rest of the colors are the same coverage or if they differ by shade?
12Sounds fantastic, and St Jude's is such an amazing organization. But really, Lindsay Lohan, a "green" celeb?
I'm a big fan of both Sarah Chalke and Evie Lily, so I'm excited to see them both associated with this!
13I want to prove before say something...
14I really want those!
15Actually, now that I'm trying to pick out a color, none of them look that wearable...
16Cool... it's also interesting. I'm more of a gloss person myself but these I could be interested in!
