Today, a friend of mine confessed that she has only been using a blow dryer for the last one of her 30 years. Although I am often pressed for time in the morning, I try to do a little heat styling to tame my hair, even if the results aren't perfect. Since I often notice many wet-haired ladies and gents on my morning train ride, I'm wondering how many of you use a blow dryer after washing?

If I'm going to leave my hair down then I use a blow dryer.
1In the summer I can sometimes get away with using it less.
I'm sure others disagree, but I feel that showing up with half-wet hair looks unprofessional. It looks fine if the hair is pulled back and you can't tell if it's really dry or not. However, I've seen plenty of loose wet/damp hair in the working place, and it makes me think, "That person hit the snooze button too many times." I know some have super-thick hair that takes forever to dry, but that's when the ponytail/low bun is helpful.
2If I don't blow my hair dry, it is a scary, scary thing to behold. So I blow it out every day.
3If I wear it curly I don't blow it out. But If I wear it straight I will.
4I blow dry mine about half of the time. I blow dry more in the winter when it's cold. I walk up to campus, which is maybe a mile walk, not long, but long enough that I don't want wet hair when it's 20 degrees outside. When I don't I usually just pull it up or wait for it to air dry before I go out.
5I have an hour commute to work M-F and I usually don't blow dry on those days when the weather is warmer. I just wash, scrunch & go. By the time I get to work it's dry.
6I don't, except for special occasions or necessary exceptions. I just don't like to. I usually shower early evenings, or whenever i have time, so that my hair is no more than barely damp by bedtime.
7I wear my hair up for work and NEVER blow-dry it on work days (it's jsut so bad for it!). But on the weekends I do use it.
8I used to use a blow dryer back in the 80's when I wanted more volume, but now I'm more concerned about keeping my hair healthy. I'll still use one if I'm visiting a cold climate, but otherwise I just wash, comb, and go.
9It's an evil necessity in winter.
10I do, and I hate that I have to, but my hair naturally has a slight wave, and it looks dreadful if I let it air dry. I'm insanely jealous of my husband's hair texture, it's literally perfect, and never frizzes. GAH! I hope our kids get his hair : P
11Yep, sure do. I have to be very careful with how I do it, though. And use just the right amout of product afterward. Otherwise my hair will still be a poofy mess. UGH.
12I haven't used a blow dryer in years, and I am always told my hair is very healthy because of it.
13I must always dry my roots, even in the summer, or i will get sick from my head being too cold.
HOWEVER, it is so bad for my hair that I always shower at night and dry ONLY the roots. Luckily, I have very straight hair and don't need the dryer for styling purposes.
14My hair is very fine/flat so I have to blow dry everyday to get it to look somewhat normal. Also I work in a law office and wet hair would not look so professional. On the weekends I try to give it a break and air dry, but it does get wavy and weird looking, so if I am doing something I will have to dry or curl anyways. I do not use a flat iron, and I think that is worse on hair everyday.
15Nope, never, because then I'd have to straighten it too. I wash it at night, braid it and then sleep on it. My hair's naturally wavy so the braids loosen the waves a bit and then I can actually do something with my hair the next morning.
16My hair is a HUGE mess if I don't blow dry it. I hate doing so, but having nice smooth hair is much better than a frizzy wavy mess, even if it takes me FOREVER.

18I have wavy/frizzy hair and I never blow dry my hair--that's just asking for disaster. I take a shower when I come home from work so my hair isn't wet when I go to bed, and I use satin pillowcases, which keeps my hair from looking slept in, so I don't have to have wet hair in the morning.

20yes! blowdry and straightening iron almost every day
21if i leave it curly, then no, but i do that only once every couple months
I blowdry in the winter but I'll air dry in the summer.
22I don't blow dry unless I shower at night or if it's a special occassion. I rarely wear my hair down - so I can wash it in the morning, comb it through, tie it up and it looks dry by the time I get to work. I don't even have to blow dry / straighten my bangs, they dry naturally and perfectly every time.
23I wash my hair in the evening, so if my hair is still moist by the time I'm ready for bed, I blow dry it a little.
24I do when my hair's long. Right now it's pixie-ish so I don't have to do anything with it if I don't want to.
25Yes I use a great dryer (Chi)every time I wash it(unless its' a weekend), but I don't wash it every day. I also use a Ojon revitalizer on days when I don't wash but it needs a little refresh, along with a brief blow..lol
I agree with the poster above about people who arrive to work with their hair wet... it's unprofessional. Either wash it at night, or get up earlier
26Oh, some of you are so lucky.... I have the flattest hair in the world and it also gets oily if I don't wash it every day. So I wash every day, then blow dry, then curl or flat iron it.
It stays pretty healthy though because I am totally devoted to Ojon. Thank Goodness for it!
27I shower at night! No need to dry!
28If I don't blow dry then my hair is a wavy frizzy mess! But I only wash my hair 2x's a week...so hopefully I am not doing too much damage
29At least my bangs or else they dry looking very weird. Most of the time I just let it air dry. ALthough in the winter I try to give myself ample time for that to happen, 20 degree weather and a wet head=not good.
30I do every once in a while - if my hair needs to be dry quickly. I have super straight and fine hair, so it will air-dry in 20 minutes and look like a straightener has been all over it!
31Nope, I never heat-style anymore. A few minutes wrapped in a microfiber towel does it for me.
32no blow drying, however once in a while i'll feel impatient and just *have* to dry my hair real quick. but that's really once in a blue moon. i don't really do much to my hair except shower and condition.. and i don't have split ends to this day!
33If i'm pressed for time, i'll throw some curl enhancers through it and run to work as my drive is an hour long - plenty of time for my hair to dry.
But almost every second morning ill wash and blow dry then straighten. Although I have a GREAT italian product which does wonders for my hair to protect it from all the heat. And besides, I'm aussie, used to the heat LOL
34Nooooo way. Heated styling tools are not allowed anywhere near my hair, EVER. My hair is straight and very fine and it comes down to my waist, so it's also extremely fragile. I put loads of time and money into deep conditioning and fending off split ends, and to use heat on my hair would just counteract all of my efforts. Most of the time, I'll towel-dry the worst of it and then let it air-dry (which can take several hours). My tendency is to wear my hair down (really - what's the point of waist-length hair if you aren't showing it off?), but I occasionally do a twist-and-clip ponytail if my hair isn't completely dry and I need to get going.
35Oh, I'm so awful to my hair - but I try to make it up to it.
Yes, I do blowdry it.. Try to do it on a cool setting if I'm not in a hurry.
Since my hair is naturally dry I can get away with washing it every other day or so. And I TRY to wash it at night ..let it dry naturally.. so I won't have to dry it during the morning when I get ready for work.
And then I curl my hair at least every other day.. but when I get time I put those silly pink foam rollers in my hair that way it won't be so bad for my hair. I like the way they make my curls look best, but with a toddler I'm usually exhausted by the time she goes to bed... so I only get to use them like once or twice a week.
..also hot oil and deep condition my hair once to twice a week.
But yeah, I use the hair dryer about 3 times a week max. And I hate it.
36Nope. Even with a diffuser they blow my curls apart.
When working I'll wash my hair early the evening before. Takes at least 3 hours for my hair to even think about air drying, and if it's damp out it just won't.
37lizbear317 ..ditto on the wet work hair. hate that, ha ha.
rocketgirl - the night braid is such a great idea! I forgot my mom used to fix my hair that way when I was a kid. Next time I grow my hair out again I will do that instead.
Jude - what's this microfiber towel you're using hon? I need one!
38I think I got at Bath and Body Works or H2O or something forever ago, g1amourpuss, but you can probably find them in drugstores now as well. They're the thin, light, super-absorbent hair towels.
They work great, because my hair's almost waist-length and holds water really well for some reason; if I just dry with a normal towel, I end up dripping all over myself for the next three hours.
39only when i'm in a rush,
40but i usally always style-it
with my flat iron.
I used to but since going natural I haven't picked up a blow dryer in over a year and my hair is much better because of it. So no more hair dryers for me.
41i have no choice. i HAVE to blow dry my hair or else it looks flat and just unpolished. I have a lot of thin hair that is straight and it just looks unkept if i don't blow dry it. so for those who don't have to blow dry, i envy you!!
42When I'm not lazy
43I usually don't blow dry. I wash my hair at night and let it air dry before I go to bed. I'm pretty lucky since my hair dries straight and looks good. I only blow dry if I have to rush out of the house with my hair wet, or if it's a special day where I want extra volume.
44My hair is so thick and dry that I wash and blow dry my hair once a week, maybe twice.
45hardly ever. i just can't stand there that long and dry my hair because it is so long.
46Never, unless I go to a salon. It just looks like crap/bird's nest if I do it myself.
47I have to blow dry my hair everyday because if I don't it will be one frizzy wavy mess! My hair is very thick and pretty long too, so it is a major pain. If I have a day where I can just stay in the house though I let it air dry.
48I use a blow dryer every time. My hair is hip-length and thick (even with layers), and it will stay wet for hours if I don't use a dryer. In a bun or braid, it'll take over a day to dry. The only time I don't use a dryer is in the summer, because I don't have AC and it's just too hot.
49if i'm in a rush yea i will other than that i'll let it dry naturally
