Fall is approaching, and soon we'll all be transitioning from our sandals to boots, and from our bare legs to tights. Clinique's new Modern Matte collection for Fall features plush textures with beautifully low-key matte finishes that help make the transition from Summer to Fall as smooth as possible. The collection includes four new products, plus a lengthening/volumizing mascara. I'm really excited to try these new additions, as the lip liner and lipstick are long lasting, creamy, and intense, which is a hard-to-find combo.

If you have any fine lines or wrinkles, the new matte eyeshadow just might be for you since that type of finish works wonders for de-emphasizing the appearance of any unwanted nooks and crannies. Even though it's sometimes difficult to sport the matte look without looking dull, Clinique seems to pull it off. The cheeks and lips have a luminous stain without excess shininess, and the eye shadows deliver a soft touch with colors ranging from subtle to deep. Better yet, most of the collection ranges around the $14 mark — not obscenely expensive.

I really want to try out the blush sticks. They look really nice.
1this brings me back to 1996. matte dark lipstick, matte shadow AND POWDER EEK. i love my shimmer.
2The lipsticks aren't dark, AND they stay on fabulously. I may work for them, but I'm not kidding you. We put red-y to wear on me the other day and I didn't have to reapply once during my 8 hour shift. I was quite impressed.
3I don't like matte makeup at all, it's really aging. It looks kinda muddy on. I love me some shimmer.
4IDK, i'm not too into matte. But i'd be willing to check it out next time i'm by the counter.
5I've been wearing some mattes lately and am liking them a lot. One of them is Clinique. I might have to try the new lipsticks soon.
6I'm not hugely into matte makeup, but I do occasionally like an old-school look, especially a classy one, so I'm looking forward to trying this collection out!
7Sorry, this ad looks like it could have been pulled out of a 1990s magazine for a "work face".
Warmish nudie mattes? Bobbi Brown did that already. And I didn't wear it then, either.
Old-school is great, but even then I prefer at least a bit of natural softness, if not outright dewy than at least a more natural, slight glow to the face. Matte is so harsh.
