Eyeliners come in so many forms. You've got your gels, your creamy pencils, your liquid types — and then there are the ones that are composed entirely of powder. Last week, I was at the drugstore and I came upon the latter. I'm such a sucker for unusual packaging, and this Bare Naturale Eyeliner ($8.99) from L'Oreal caught my eye.
My office buddy and I took a field trip to the ladies' room to try out this new liner. So, we both knew how we are supposed to "swirl and tap" before applying mineral types of makeup, but we got a little frustrated with the powdery mess that was created. While we liked the fact that the angled brush is included (how could you lose this one?), it was awkward to twist open without causing major spillage.
Speaking of that brush: I'm a fan, but my pal felt it was difficult to hold. Soft and angled, the line we created was precise, but not heavy. (Unfortunately, it was hard to control, hence the errant powder you see below.) While the line is sharp, if you're looking for longevity and stay-put power, this powder doesn't do the job. By the end of the day we had rings under our eyes, and we both agreed to leave this one in the, er, dust.

I've seen this, but just have zero interest to try it. I figured it would make a mess and leave fall-out all over my face...
1The brush looks way too soft to be effective with eyeliner.
2I tried the powder, but the whole setup was just too messy.
3Just for the record the big picture (and the red link text) is not even the mineral powder eyeliner...it's the eyeshadow. The actual liner is pictured below with a angled thin brush. Maybe you should change it to accurately show the product you reviewed.
I happen to like this product. I use it just on my top lashes smudged into the lash line and it makes my lashes look thicker.

5Powder liners alone dont have much staying power, but if layered over a pencil eyeliner will hold up to just about anything! Its the same concept as a "setting" powder for your face.
6The idea of a mineral powder liner is good, I think the packaging is the most disappointing, the brush looks short and big, reading your review I'm not tempted to buy it if it comes to Europe. Thanks for the honesty Bella!
7I love mineral products, but I draw the line at mascara and eye liner. Those seem, to me, to need a bit more staying power.
8That brush looks so awkward to use. 95% of the time I use a powder eyeshadow to line my eyes, but I use pressed shadows and it works well. I think the loose powder would be so messy and drive me crazy in the morning when I'm in a rush.
9I'm not a big fan of L'Oreal's mineral product, so I'm kind of not surprised that I will be underwhelmed by this product.
10Honestly, don't waste your time with this one. Try JANE Be Pure Mineral Eye Liner (BellaSugar posted on it awhile back: http://bellasugar.com/1765065). It also comes with a brush, but it's a gel, so no mess. It's cheap ($5 or something close to that) and stays put all day. I love it so much, I bought it in three colors. I bought it at Ulta, but I think that Rite Aid carries JANE products as well. Good luck, and have fun!
11This looks like a dupe of the Bourjois Shimmer Loose Eye Shadow. But I'll stick with Bourjois, I think the colors are better and the brush definitely works better than this one would!
