Out of curiosity, I asked you to share your opinions of Maybelline Great Lash mascara. It's never been my favorite, but it's a perennial best-seller. Over in the land of Product Reviews, opinion is split directly down the middle, earning this mascara an average rating. I loved reading everybody's opinions, but these three reviews really stood out:
- The Italian Jem: "I find Maybelline Great Lash Royal Blue to be a very fun color, and cheaper than any other blue mascara. ... Putting the blue Great Lash over a single coat of a well-loved black mascara can help the lashes look fuller."
- Coachluvr33: "I don't see it. I don't get it. What is the fuss surrounding this cult classic mascara? It produced clumpy, dense, spider-like creations on my eyelids that were hardly attractive and a real pain to get rid of."
- Fab_domini: "I love this mascara. It might not live up to all the hype because it doesn't do anything out of this world, but its enough for a natural look."
Thanks to everyone who shared opinions! Thanks, too, to these three readers — check your inboxes for a Sugar gift! If you'd like to check out our preview of product reviews, have a little poke around the place.

L'oreal Voluminous is less messy than Great Lash which tends to smear on my eyelids for some reason.
1Kim, I just bought this mascara and love it! The volume is seriously incredible.
2I didn't like Great Lash either. I'm glad I'm not alone in my feelings toward this mascara that is always on the top of "best of" list. A friend once told me the reason why you always see it in make up artists' bags is most if not all mascara have the same basic imgredients and the big difference is the bristles/ brush so Great Lash is favored because of the low price.
I personally love LashBlast from Covergirl for my drugstore product.
3I concur with The Italian Gem...I actually wrote a very similar review myself about Royal Blue Great Lash. It's my favorite mascara in the world.
4it's an OK mascara. it make my lashes a bit less curly after i curled my lashes. it doesn't clump for me. i did like that you could remove it with just water and soap, though.
5I hate this stuff. I have blonde very tiny lashes, though, and this does nothing for me (nothing attractive, anyway) and I just detest it. I do love Define-A-Lash, though. The little tiny pieces on the brush help my barely-there lashes actually stand out.
6Never really done much for my lashes...
7I never liked Great Lash. My mom bought me it as my first mascara and it was good for that natural look. However the formula is clumpy and nothing outstanding. If I want a DS mascara I buy CG Lash Exact or Lash Blast; now those are wonderful mascara's and are very cheap (though DiorShow is my favorite high-end choice though I look foward to trying one by YSL (volume effect?).)
8It's Cover Girl Lash Blast for me (That's the orange tube?). I love it so much. It makes me look like I've got false eyelashes on!
9i hate this mascara, and i haven't yet found one that works for me.
this does NOTHING for my lashes. even if i curl them before applying, they go right back to the way they were before, except super clumpy and then the mascara is IMPOSSIBLE to remove. impossible. i hate it.
