Do you remember your first taste of honey? I do, at least when it comes to Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick ($14). Ever since trying the shade in college, I've been hooked. This color looks nearly black in the tube, but on lips, it's a beautiful, sheer shade of brick red. (Think of the color of blackberry pie, but lighter.) It's a shade that flatters just about everyone, and it's super-moist on lips.
But if the economy has you watching every penny, don't despair! I've found a pretty close match to Black Honey for half the price. For the twin, read more.
I recently tried Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Moisture Plump Lip Balm ($6.74) in Sweet Plum, and if it's not a twin, it's a very close cousin to Black Honey. The packaging is plastic rather than metal, but saving a few bucks will put a smile on your face.

1jacrabbit84, I heard the same thing. But I checked their website, you can still order it so I don't think it's been discontinued.

3Sally Hansen tests on animals and Clinique doesn't... I'd rather pay the extra $7 myself.

Clinique Black Honey was my first lipstick when I was 11 years old and my mother decided I was old enough to try some natural-looking make-up. I recently starting using it again (25 years old now), although I do think that somewhere in between Clinique did discontinue the color.

I wore it all through high school. The shade is just to die for ...it has that bitten lip look like you've been kissing someone for hours or eating tons of berries.

12I wear Black Honey a lot. When I first started wearing it, it was in the green plastic Clinique tube, and the lid ALWAYS cracked and then would continuously fall off in my makeup bag. I was very happy when they switched to the metal tube.
I've never tried any of the other Almost Lipstick colors. Any other shades worth a try?

14I love Clinique Black Honey! I've been wearing it since college, too. Try it with Wet & Wild's 666 lip liner sometime. My roommate introduced me to the combo in 1994 and it's been a standby lip look.
15That looks like a really close match!!! I'll have to try it. I like Black Honey a lot, but I LOVE the Clinique Sheer Blackberry shade even more.

18Yeah a few days ago I wanted the Bloomingdale's Clinique bonus and I got a new tube of the black honey- this used to be my signature lip color, wore it for years. Very nostalgic to have some again, it's just so versatile for any skin tone. I don't see Clinique discontinuing this because it's one of their all time best sellers.

Black Honey is a best seller for sure. Does anyone else remember when they did the whole collection in Black Honey? I remember the blushes and everything.

I also stopped buying Sally Hansen for a long time because they tested on animals and was thrilled when i'd heard they'd stopped.
22I checked Target and Walgreens and can't find the Sally Hansen version anywhere! Can't even find it on their website.
Has anyone else found the cheaper one?

24I guess I will have to try the Sally version since everyone raves about it. I need a slightly darker lipstick for fall anyway. Might look into it.
