You may have remembered my La Mer Crème beauty mark because it's pretty much the most off the hizzle crème on the market; just a lil' one oz. jar costs $110. But with fans and loyal devotees like Madonna, Sharon Stone and Kim Catrall, Meryl Streep and Nicolette Sheridan, there must be something very special about this deep sea crème. Here's the back-story and the skinny on the difference between the lotion and the original crème.
Crème de la Mer was invented by aerospace physicist Dr. Max Huber. He suffered a terrible burn accident and at the time, there was nothing on the market that was going to significantly help him. Twelve years later, he created Crème de La Mer. Its transliteration means, cream of the sea and the secret ingredient in it is called Miracle Broth™.
Made from: sea kelp, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, lecithin, Vitamins C, E, B12, citrus, eucalyptus, wheat germ, alfalfa and sunflower oils, the moisturizer is distilled and fermented for three to four months.
The texture and appearance of your skin dramatically change into something softer, smoother, firmer, and aging lines and pores are noticeably less visible. Even the application is special. To activate the Miracle Broth™, warm a small amount between your fingertips and pat onto clean, dry skin.
The La Mer Lotion, $165, also contains Miracle Broth™, the other crème ingredients, and undergoes the same processing. The lotion is simply a lighter version of the crème. Some prefer this style in the heat of the summer months, or if they have oily skin.

Has anyone used any La Mer products and been really impressed? I've read (user reviews) that it's not nearly worth the $$$. For what it costs, I'd expect dramatic results.
1I use the La Mer eyecream ($150), but I cannot tell you if it 'works' on wrinkles or not because I'm using it as a preventative measure. I can say it has improved the quality of my skin around my eyes, and somewhat decreased the dark circles although not dramatically. I am not sure whether I will buy another one once it's finished. I might try La Prarie.
2I used to use La Mer when it was just the one cream - you know, before Estee Lauder bought the company (and then introduced a bunch of other products in the line). I think in THOSE days it was effective and I even got a lot of compliments. But after Estee bought the company, the formula seemed to change (maybe it was diluted or something?) and my skin didn't look as great anymore (no, I didn't change my diet or routine). It just wasn't as great, so I stopped using it. NOT worth the money. I don't use it now because I think it's overpriced for what it is, and there are so many other great creams out there that are just as effective. Oh, and I didn't think the eye cream was so great either. Go with another brand!!
3I have read TONS of reviews also, and think it is way overpriced. I haven't read anything to convince me otherwise, I'll just stick to my cetaphil.
4ha! I love my cetaphil! I can't imagine spending $110 on a teeny jar of face cream
5Creme La Mer is NOT an antiaging product and La Mer does not say it is. Recently, a woman brought a lawsuit against La Mer because she said the product didn't reduce her wrinkles and she lost because it's not advertised to do that. Personally, I can't live without in the winter because it's the only product that keeps my skin from being too dry.

6I will be your Dixie Chicken if you'll be my Tennessee Lamb and we can walk together down in Dixie Land...
I've tried some samples of it. if anyone is interested i would suggest you go to a counter and ask for samples before investing in it. I wasn't impressed, but i wasn't disappointed either. it was an okay moisturizer. I tried both la creme and la lotion. It didn't convince me to go ahead an buy it though. but then it didn't disspoint so much that i ruled it out in the future. perhaps one day i'll revisit it again. but if you ask me, if I was to spend over a hundred dollars on a moisturizer, I would spend it on revive - which is the one I want to try next. I love the revive cleanser - it really does give you the re vive glow, and have been using it for like almost two years now, and it's perfect. since revive moisturizing renewal cream is like supposedly the one product out of the entire line that you're suppose to try, i wanna give it a whirl. so the next time i'm near a revive counter, i'll be sure to get a sample....
7I don't know if it's worth the prize or not but what I've heard is that Kate Moss loves it and use's it all over her body, not just her face
sooo it must do something good because she looks great
8I've tried the La Mer cream (110) and was not impressed at all. I have normal to oily skin and it was too heavy which was disappointing because I had read so many good reviews. Also a friend had told me that after using the product it made her skin less oily which really confused me. In all, I would not buy it again.
9i have been using la mer for about two years, honestly im not sure about it anymore.I dont think it does much for wrinkles and lines but as a moisterizer it is lovely.I think i will try revive when i have finished my jar of la mer.
10La mer cream is good if you live in a wintery country - basic moisturiser
La mer concentrate is the best -calming,soothing,moisturising, radiance enhancing and has opticals to give your skin a veil of satin like appearance
La mer serum is very hydrating and clarifying
La mer eye cream is a lighter version of the face cream
I personally think that only the concentrate and the serum are worth the price charged
i can't waiting to try the new serum launched recently
