Having regular scheduled blowout and manicure appointments always seems like the most ladies-who-lunch cosmopolitan dream to me, but I recently discovered a friend of mine — who, um, serves lunch — has a regular Wednesday afternoon date with her manicurist and a standing monthly eyebrow appointment. Do you schedule your appointments months in advance, or are you an impulse salon visitor?

Yes. for my brows. They grow really fast and I'll mess them up if I touch them myself. Besides, it makes me feel good, and it is really the only regular beauty treat I give myself.
I don't always have the time to go every other wwek.
week
No, I wish... my eyebrows are screaming for help.
I wish. I'm a broke joke and rarely go to the salon. EVER.
I tried scheduling my appointments are regular intervals but always found a reason to postpone them. My hair was in good shape and didn't need a trim yet or my nail polish still looked really good and would last another week. I hate canceling appts and inconveniencing the stylists so I just book 'em as I need 'em.
No. I just go whenever I get the urge for some change or really need a trim or whatever.
I've never been to a salon
I never keeping standng appts. My life is so busy that things always change at the last min.
I use to, but with the economy like it is and the price for things that are necessities going up I book spa/nail/waxing appointments as needed.
Highlights. Scheduled every 6 weeks, 5 months out. I travel regularly for work, and believe me, it's easier to rearrange a meeting or travel than it is to reschedule my hair appointments. I mean, there ARE priorities! Brows I generally hit every 3 weeks, but I don't schedule much more than a week in advance.
I just call in day-of for my beauty appointments. But I don't frequent the super high-end places where my stylist would have a huge line booked for weeks ahead of her. More like just a couple hours.
yes, when i do my highlights,
or when cutting my hair.
every other week for pedi's and once a month for eyebrows
No I go when I need to and I have the time. Standing appts usually don't always pan out, you never know what might happen.
I don't have anything recurring. I do book my next appointment when I pay for my services. This makes sure I don't go too long between cuts and that I can get in. It also gives me something to look forward to, especially when it comes to manicures and pedicures.
i actually have a friend who went to beauty school with me and we call eachother frantically every few weeks wanting to change our hair. my eyebrows are blonde and i pluck. i actually did my roots, trimmed my bangs and put some layers in the front tonight!
Nope, I tend to just wait til there's a need for whatever service. I'd constantly be rescheduling if I had a standing appointment. My life is nuts.
When I wore acrylic nails I had a standing appointment. I live in a small town and its just easier that way.
Every 6 weeks I am in for a haircut and a lip wax. Since I have short hair it really needs to be cut regularly to avoid having it look like a mullet, and well, a lip wax is never something you want to go too long without.
Only hair. I do my brows and nails and what not myself, I'm too afraid of someone else messing up
Nope. I like going when I feel like it, setting appointments makes it feel like a chore.
that comes across as really condescending towards people who serve lunch... with the use of "um" and the italicised emphasis
Only for hair. I do my own top lip, nails and eyebrows. It just cost too much to go to a salon and have someone do all that. But hair appointments are always made far in advance. I usually set up the next two or three when I go in, but that's mostly because my salon is the most popular place in town.
My grandmother is a hair stylist and I would get my hair done by her. But we moved this year and now my mom actually trims it.
I go when I have the money and usually book a week in advance.
