Whether they were sideways, polished, or piled high in a messy roll, one thing's for sure: buns were hot on the runway for Spring 2009. Vera Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Tibi, and Lorick all featured some version of this ballerina favorite. I like how Wang even went for a French twist/bun combo (bottom left). What's your favorite way to wear this elegantly modern style?

3I hate the top two also, but I love a messy bun. It is so carefree and sexy. I know I am gushing, but Serena's messy bun updo from Gossip Girl's season 2 premiere with the braids, etc, was insanely gorgeous. Wow.

5The one on the top left is a little too much for "real life" but the others are nice. I love buns! They can be casual or elegant and they're great for highlighting face angles!

7I wear a bun at least four times a week. It's just so easy and versatile, you can make it messy and casual or sleek and sophisticated. The bottom two are nice.
8i actually usually combine a twist and a bun when i wear my hair up, but for some reason, my twists always end at the bottom rather than the top, so my bun seems a little less outstanding because it is more subtle. make sense? i love wearing my hair up and after 14 years of ballet, i am pretty good and wrestling it up into a do!
