I debated long and hard with this installment of the Clarisonic diaries. There's been a Clarisonic-buying trend at Sugar headquarters, and we all unanimously agree that it's improving our skin. When we congregate before meetings, we talk about our deep and abiding love for the gadget's pore-shrinking, skin-softening capabilities. I've even named mine Claire for short. Our cultlike devotion to this gadget is a little out of control.
Speaking of "out of control," this is where things get personal. Since Claire is waterproof, you can take her into the shower. It wasn't long before I realized that a little sonic cleansing on the neck and décolletage makes that skin so smooth and soft. This morning, as I was cleansing, I thought, "Ooh, my clavicle skin is as soft as a baby's bottom." Then I thought of Babyassface, and then — I think you know where this is going. If you dare, read more.
I am a little embarrassed to admit this, but yes, dear reader, it's true: I Clarisonic-ed my bum. OK, so really, it's more the back half of my hips than the actual bottom, but I did it just the same. And it made my skin SO soft that now I wish for a larger, body-exfoliating super 'Sonic to more efficiently remove the dead skin from my body. It might be time for an intervention.

LOL!
1LOL!! Oh this is just hilarious! Well I don't see a problem with total body exfoliation, but I see how this could get addictive.
I've been using the Dermalogica Ultimate Buffing Cloth all over and I really like it (though it's pretty rough and may be problematic for those with delicate skin). Maybe try that until Clarisonic makes you a super-sized version
2I would probably do the same.
3If I could afford one I would have done the same thing!
4Oooo I want one now bella!
5haha i want one! haha i would have done the same anyways
6Pfff I would've!!!
7lol! you are so selling me on this
8I thought you were going somewhere else with it! I almost wrote a post and titled it "I love my Clarasonic so much it is my new boyfriend" but then I realized how it could be taked, vibrating and all.
And I was just thinking the same thing in the shower yesterday. I hope they come out with a larger one that has a long handle for body cleaning. I would so buy it. Maybe you should e-mail the company?
9Oh man, now I want one.
10here is a really good review i found for this on you tube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwLf35QtRJE&feature=user and a discount offered to buy it too.
I just cancelled my microdermabrasion appointment so i can buy it instead lol
xo erin
11Haha! So do you recommend it? I am obsessed with Origins Modern Friction Dermabrasion scrub for my face, but I also have a jar of the body-specific version and I've never used it. I can't see the need to exfoliate my body. But maybe I am missing out.
12If I could afford one I would buy it as well. All I ever hear about is gushing reviews in the meantime, I will sit here green with envy.
13Dear Bella,
14This post made my week! I have been eagerly awaiting your final installment and have fallen in love with my Clarisonic. My pores feel smaller and cleaner everyday and my blackheads have definitely cleaned up and lessened.
Thanks for your candid account. I don't know if I dare...yet...
Nancy: YES. Do it. Do it. And Bella, don't be embarrassed, I do my arms in the shower. I am so with you on the full-body Clarisonic experience. Sign me up!
15I have saved up the $. I want to go to Sephora today. Just want to make sure it's worth it, and from what I understand, it is!
16Hmmm, this looks so tempting. I wonder how well it would work on decreasing milia.
17They really should make a full-body version. I'm sure that would sell.
18
well, why not? They really should get on this. This sounds great for full body as well. Now
how to convince myself t is really worth that money
19I actually read that doing it on your legs before shaving makes for an easier, smoother, and longer lasting shave. I SO need to get one of these!
20I was thinking that too phasekitty. Using this before shaving would give you a closer shave. I'd use this all over too. I might have to add this to my wish list.
21I bought one 3 weeks ago and it is amazing : )))))
22I've been using a "Claire" since it came out, so I know how you feel. However, there are bath gloves that are better for the body than Claire. My dermatologist recommended them years ago and they've replaced my pouf forever. Also, I still get weekly dermabrasion - Claire is not a replacement for professionals!
23I REALLY want one of these...
24Ok, time to start saving those pennies, sounds like a must have!
25We were all thinking it anyway.
XD
26Lmao xDD
27I did the same thing, Bella
If the brush head were bigger, I'd do my whole body all the time.
I want one!
28SOLD! Thanks, that was the best!
29I am seriously considering to buy one of these.
I use ProActiv as my cleanser, which has exfoliater in it. Can I still use this with the clarisonic brush, or would the exfoliater in the cleanser be too much since the brush exfoliates as well?
I wouldn't really consider changing my cleanser for use of the brush so I was just wondering if it works ok with different cleansers.
30Thanks!
This was hilarous! I would have done the same in the shower...on my bum. I get a rough patch right where my leg starts from my jeans! Anyway, I think I will try this gadget! Although...I still will go to my Microderm appts.....nothing beats that glow!
31I LOVE my Clarisonic! I bought it from QVC about 6 months ago. I have rough elbows and knees, so I save the brush head to a new one for my face, and then clean the old one with Clinique make-up brush cleaner and use the old one for my knees and elbows. Now I'm going to try my bum!
32well now i just have to have one!
33why cant products be like $20 so that everyone can afford!!!
34omg thank you so much for the reviews - i've been going back and forth if i should spend the money on this.. .and now i'm in!
35and thanks for that link to the review efahey - that was a great product review...
LOL wish I could afford this one. Maybe we should have another giveaway for Clarisonic...
36For everyone who's pinching pennies but is still desperately wants one of these, don't bother. I just returned my Clarisonic and here's why. Yes it makes your skin smooth. Yes your pores will look slightly smaller. Yes your skin will feel soft. No, it did not make me have less breakouts. In fact, I have more now. And before anyone says you have to use it for 3 weeks befor eyou see real results, I've been using it for 7 weeks.
Why not spend $25 every three months on a really great exfoliating mask (I recommend one by Arbonne) and use it once a week to get the exact same results for less. Once you pay $200 for the device, which is nothing more then an overgrown toothbrush, you need to replace the bristles every 3 months, which is $25. So really, in the first year you wont be spending $200 on it, you'll be spending $275, and $100 every subsequent year.
I think that the clarisonic would be great for someone who doesn't regularly take good care of their skin, but would if they got an overpriced tool to remind them to do so. For everyone else, just take the time to make sure all of your makeup is off, do a mask once a week to deep clean, and read the directions on your products to make sure you're using them as effectively as possible.
37no worry, i read on their site that its ok to use it on body
38Gsteinhauser's review is exactly what I was afraid of. I've read plenty of reviews on sephora and many of them claim that this brush made their breakouts worse. Now I have breakout prone skin, and the last thing I ever want to do is exacerbate my skin! I use a small manual face brush to help remove the make up from my skin and it works just fine. I was considering buying this brush for a while, but chances are I probably won't since clear skin is something I work hard at achieving and I don't want to ruin it.
39I love the Clairsonic!
40I got mine about 3 weeks ago and last week I had the worst breakout. I called our rep (I work at a spa that carries the Clairsonic)and she said it is very normal to break out at first b/c it is bringing future breakouts to the surface all at once. We have all heard "it get's worse before it get's better" but I wanted to be sure. She did say this is not recommended for people w/ severe cystic acne as it may spread the breakouts. Also some people may need to ease into the use of this brush, once a day or every other etc... So the breakout lasted 4 miserable days and now I'm on the other side of it. My skin feels so soft w/fewer clogged pores. my esthetician was amazed that even with this terrible breakout, my pores were clean. This is coming from someone who has given me facial for 4 years.
I have tried EVERYTHING for my skin and I really like this tool. I have heard of people getting a really good deal on ebay.
Ohh also make sure you use antibacterial soap after each use if you are acne prone.
41Thanks for your input merfie23, it is very helpful
42i LOVE my Clarisonic. i use it on my feet - it is the ONLY thing that can keep them super clean. i live in LA - and wear sandals all the time. Clarisonic is the key. it's great for my face too - especially if my skin feels grimy.
43I am sure the Clarisonic is awesome; however, I couldn't swing the investment right now, so I bought a Pretika for $50 on Amazon and I love it. It comes with a couple of little tubes of treatment stuff, but I just wash my face each night with Cetaphil and leave it on my face, then go to town with the Pretika. Highly recommend for people who want the Clarisonic experience without the steep price tag.
44If you can't afford (or simply don't want to) to spend $180 on the Clarisonic brush thats sold in many retail shop try Ebay. That's were I got mine from and it only cost me about $100. I've been using it for about 6-8 months and I love it.
I only use it at night or in the shower. Also, I've very surprised at how many ppl said that the brush worsen their acne. I didn't have that problem
45just bought this instead of getting a $150 facial... so excited!
46I adore my clarisonic- but now you've given me some good new ideas!!!
47Clarisonic came out with a new model and a bigger brush head for the body "Spot Therapy Brush Head"
