Today is the first day of Autumn, which means it's time to update your makeup regimen just a little bit. No need to revamp your entire look immediately: it's much more fun to slowly incorporate some of Fall's trends into your look. Here are some small changes you can make to ease into the new season:
- Lay off the bronzer. This may seem like a no-brainer, but lots of people cling on to the last remnants of Summer by supplementing their fading tan with bronzing products. Rosy cheeks are the trend for Fall — on your way there, try a rosy cheek stain with a little bronzer over it. Jemma Kidd Rosy Glow Lip & Cheek Tint is my favorite — the stain really sinks in, so the texture won't mix weirdly with your bronzer.
- Go for a metallic nail polish shade. Dark berry colors with reflective pigments and grays were all over Fall runways. Try Cover Girl Boundless Color Nail Polish in Plum Pudding.
- Give up the gloss. Makeup artists have been telling me for months that sheer lipstick is replacing gloss, and I can't think of a better time to embrace that then when it gets windy (no one wants her hair stuck to a pair of chapped lips . . . ew!). Try Revlon Sheer Colorstay Lipcolor.
- Practice your smoky eye. Save it for nighttime for now, but the smoky eye, especially with hints of silver or bronze, is big for Fall. Check out Oscar de la Renta's Fall runway to see what I mean.

I like most of these tips but I'm a sucker for my MAC lip gloss. I can't ever stray!
1Good tips! Unfort it's still very hot and summery here in Houston, I have to keep using my bronzer bc it's still so sunny during my runs that my arms are dark but I use lots of sunscreen on my face so I have to use my bronzer to keep one skin color- I will keep this in mind in about a month though!
This wknd I bought cutest rosy cheek color from Shiseido- it's Shiseido The Makeup Accentuating Color stick in Rosy Flush- it goes on great, not tacky at all, a bit creamy and powdery at the same time!!
2thanks for the tips Bella
3I love fall makeup...
4I love my Benefit Dandelion blush for fall and winter; also Tarte cheek stains. I cannot give up on lip gloss though...
5Speaking of different ways to color lips, after not having bought lipstick in the drug store from brands other than rimmel, I realized that there are barely any lipsticks that aren't made to be kind of like they were lip gloss. I hate that. I like real lipstick. I don't even wear lipgloss, plus like you mentioned hair sticks to it anyway.
6but i use bronzer as blush?!?! i can't stop using it. it's like the only thing that looks natural on my cheeks!
7I'll never give up my gloss or my bronzer! never!
8thanks bella! i've been actually thinking about how to do my make up for fall. i'm going to get my hair cut and colored on Friday and am getting rid of all the blonde and going for a deep dark chocolate brown. so i will need to change my makeup accordingly.
9I already painted my nails a medium grayish-purple. I love the color. Fall eye makeup is so pretty and that's really what I am drawn to in the summer. I do need to buy a lipstick because I don't really have any.
10all the things sound good
11but i love my bronzer,
especially on my body...
Great tips!!
