If you're old enough to remember the first round of colored mascaras, you may not want to revisit the trend. But hear me out. While Benefit's BADgal Blue mascara is a shock of brightly hued blue, its new fraternal-twin mascara, BADgal Plum, is so subtle that you won't be mistaken for a member of the Thompson Twins.
True to its name, the color is a warm shade of deep plum that's closer to a dark brown than black. If anything, it's almost too natural in indoor light; while my lashes looked significantly fuller and thicker, it was hard to see the color. But while taking a little lunch-break walk with Sabs from OnSugar yesterday, she stopped me and said, "Are you wearing colored mascara? I love it!" Turns out that in the light, it adds just the right amount of color without being garish, and it highlights the green in my eyes. But if you want to give it a try, keep it off the lower lashes; I made the mistake of using it there, and it only made me look tired and, well, a little stoned. To sum up: Nice enough indoors, wowza outdoors, and best left to top lashes unless you want to look like the conductor of the Pineapple Express.

You should try working it with the Badgal blue ( on the lower lashes) it will make your eye explode...in a good way of course
1I was thinking of trying this one or the one by Prescriptives. Have you tried the plum mascara by Prescriptives Bella?
2I love colored mascara (blue especially), it's so my beauty "trademark". I would definitely try this!
3I used to be into purple and blue mascaras back in the day, so I always associate colored mascara with my days of wearing garish middle-school makeup and run screaming for inky black formulas...
4it's true, it was really stunning in the daylight. I was surprised I didn't notice it indoors.
5I've been lusting this! Thanks for the pics
6Chiquita25, I haven't tried the Prescriptives mascara. Another thing to put on my "have to test" list.
7Oh okay, do let us know what you think, thanks!
8How is the formula? I noticed that BadGAL Blue tended to be a little on the dry side, and I was wondering if the Plum was the same way. But it does sound interesting. I love colored mascaras, but not the neon ones where you can definitely tell that there is color, I like subtle color.
9Not dry at all. I didn't have any issues with flaking.
10I would be interested in a plum tone though I might want one with alittle extra hint of plum than brown. I would still try this if I had the chance.
11how did it make you look stoned? did it make your eyes get real red? or did the purple just give your eyes an odd look?
12"the conductor of the Pineapple Express." LOL! Maybe that can be my Halloween costume this year.
13Hey Scissorz! I think the plum on my bottom eyelashes just gave me that red-eyed look. It looks great on the top lashes, no pot-eyes at all, but on the bottom it made me look a little red-eyed.
14when i was younger i had aqua mascara and i think that after wearing it like two times i realized how stupid i looked and that was the end of that. i'm all into adding a pop of color to my look, but that was just a bit cartoonish. i do like the idea of plum though - since i can be just a richer form of brown on someone with the right coloring. i don't know if it'll look right on me since i'm so fair, but i like the idea...
15Wow! I literally just tried on this mascara today in a Boots in London (Benefit has a counter there and they were giving out free eye makeup sessions
) Anyway, I really did like how it looked on me, however I didn't notice the colour too much.
But it's still nice
