This weekend, Tina Fey killed it once again with her hilarious Sarah Palin impersonation. (Seriously, "Bono, the king of Ireland?" Haw!) But that wasn't the only bit of recent election fluff to involve Governor Palin.
The Alchemist's Apprentice, a New Mexico-based seller of natural cosmetics, has created a lipstick shade in honor of the hockey mom turned VP candidate. Power Pink, a rosy shade with a bit of glimmer, is a tribute to the Alaska governor. "Now women can wear the same lipstick as this maverick mom and support her at the same time," says Pamela Cronan-Maddox, who created Power Pink.
Fact-checking time: That isn't exactly true, as Palin herself does not wear this particular lipstick shade. But for each lipstick purchased, The Alchemist's Apprentice will donate one dollar to the McCain/Palin campaign. And of course, there's also Pit Bull Mom brand lipstick ($9.99, available in Pale N' Pink and Republican Red. Where are the beauty buys for Democrats and independents, you ask? So far, nothing's turned up, but I'll try to find ya some and I'll bring them to ya.

I'm horrified. I wouldn't care what party the $ went to, IMO its promoting ignorance in women to base their political choices on beauty rather than the issues.
I want my own island monarchy.
1I think the other parties need to come up with a perfume called "Reality"...might smell a bit unpleasant though
2Ooh, I got one! How about some hairspray for Putin, for when he rears his head into Alaskan airspace?
3yuck! yes she is a women but her ideas put women back into the stone age!
4YUCK - no THANKS. Besides, that shade of pink looks TACKY.
5This is so unfair.... where was the Hillary Clinton lipstick.
6Thanks,but no thanks to the Sarah Palin lipstick
7They need to make a shade called "Ice Cold B!tch" for Palin.
The woman is ridiculous.
8Thanks for letting me know where the money goes, Bella. I will not be buying anything that supports McCain/Palin.
9ahhhh why is she becoming a fashion icon???? This is scaring me!!!
10It's insulting in the first that it's assumed we'll give our support just because he picked a woman for V.P.
11Oh god! What is this world coming to? And plus, I seriously doubt she would ever wear the natural lipstick herself. I'm sure she'd opt for the whale-blubber variety instead.
12I just told my mom about this and she said "what is it a Stupid Stick?". Ha ha ha
13
I've never heard of this company but it's surprising that it's from NM and conservative!
14Wow. I hope the liberalism disease isn't catching... cuz it seems to be all over Sugar...
15Too bad, I really like that color. I won't give a dime to any product that donates its proceeds to that campaign.
16HappyKate I agree COMPLETELY.
Also, how dare people try to get women to contribute to the campaign by selling beauty products! I am just as interested in politics and the state of our country as any man, and I don't need to buy a tube of lipstick in order to show my support. I can't be mad at the Republican campaign for this because it's pretty clear that they didn't dream this up...but I can be mad at women who buy this because they think it's helping a cause.
I think that Palin is a lunatic, but all of that aside...this is kind of demeaning and should be an embarrassment to her. She should be supported financially for her ideas and those of her running mate, NOT what shade of lipstick she wears!
Beauty is great and I'm all for women (and men, for that matter) wanting to look their best...but it should be separate from the presidential race.
17I'll pass on the Sarah Palin lipstick...
18PS. Hope all of us are registered to vote!!! =)
19"Thanks,but no thanks to the Sarah Palin lipstick"
Good one.
20I am so inspired by these comments! I have to admit, I was a bit concerned when I saw this post. A lipstick inspired by Sarah Palin is so wrong for so many reasons. Not least of which is that whether you're liberal or conservative or anywhere in between, this woman is just plain not qualified to hold a position of power in this country. (Or any, for that matter.) McCain is sexist for thinking that he could placate woman voters with this unacceptable nominee.
Thanks to the readers of Bella Sugar for making me feel a little bit better (and giving me a laugh in the process -- I'm looking at you JessicaLE! Whale blubber, ha!)
21Words fail me... This is so wrong on so many levels..
22No way, no how, no Sarah Palin lipstick.
23Eww! It looks like a horrible color from the 80s.
24I will be avoiding this like the plague!
25Ewww.
26HAHAHAHAHA
The USA makes me laugh sometimes.
They can keep the lipstick LOL
27I love Sarah Palin! The lipstick is kind of ugly, but I still want it...
28I cannot stand Sarah Palin as a person or as a political entity. I'm not a fan of her beauty and fashion style, either. That lipstick is sort of nice, but there's no way, no how, I would buy anything that contributed to the Republican campaign.
em1282: How about some hairspray for Putin, for when he rears his head into Alaskan airspace?
I love this comment so much, I want it to become an animate object so I can hug it.
