Do You Recommend Products to Men?

Last night, my best friend's boyfriend started telling me how his eyes always feel itchy and puffy. Immediately, I found myself rattling off a prescription for products that might work until his insurance kicks in: hypoallergenic pillow liners, Yes to Carrots Cucumber Eye Gel, Rohto V Cooling Eye Drops.

When a bachelor has face scrub and some Persa-Gel, I'm impressed, yet by the time I am done with him, he's a Kiehl's devotee and has used up all my Mario Badescu Drying Lotion.

Do you recommend products to the man (or men) in your life? And tell me in the comments if they listen.

The only thing I've ever recommended to my husband is moisturizer. I've used Cetaphil since forever, and my husband complained that his face was dry so I HIGHLY recommended that he start using it. He's also used Clearasil exfoliating face scrub since before we started dating, hooray!

Yes, I want everyone to have clear skin. My Husband love to use my product. But I told him he must get his own.

Yes - my bf recently commented about some blackheads he had on his nose and I made him slather on some of my miracle camphor mask. He was very pleased with the results!

My boyfriend steals my Garnier scrub. He was so surprised when he no longer had blackheads on his nose.

I left Biore face wash in my boyfriend's shower and he ran out of his normal facewash so he used mine, and he loved it. Ever since then I can suggest and cojole him into buying more products that go beyond aftershave. He does't use bar soap anymore and his wash cloth has been replaced by a puff. The only reason he's ok with this is his older married brother had been going through the same change in hygiene because of his wife. Sticking out tongue

Most of the men in my life could care less, and the ones that do are frankly more up on this stuff than I am. No happy medium, eh?

I am a happy lesbian and one would think I could talk about this stuff with my partner but she uses less product than a man! Her facial skin is very sensitive, she only washes with water every other day. Even washcloths can break her out.

I've recommended lots of things to men! I am a Body Shop at Home consultant, so besides it being my job, I want guys to be aware that there is stuff out there for them too.

soulight - teach me your ways! My partner still washes all over with antibacterial bar soap. She then complains how much nicer/softer my skin is but I can't seem to get her to change soaps. She complains mine are too oily feeling.

Well I've come to accept that my brother is going to use whatever face wash I have in the shower, so I've been buying ones that I know will help his skin too...that's kind of a recommendation, right? And i bought my boyfriend some toner so he would stop using RUBBING ALCOHOL on his face twice a day ( i cringe). AND, i've gotten both of them to use my Pond's blackhead strips..it's pretty funny, the three of us sitting around doing facials! Smiling

Let´s see: I´ve recommended antibacterial bar soap, moisturizer, eye concealer, anti-wrinkle cream, exfoliating cream... and they have listened! In fact, the look so much better now!

I've drug my boyfriend to the khiels counter a couple of times when he starts complaining (razor burn, dry face, etc) I've told several friends including guys to give up the loofah/puff. Those are hygienic disasters (breeding ground for bacteria). Soulight, you might want to reconsider bringing your boyfriend to the dark-side in that regard.

I agree Abbigail. I've given up on the loofah, which was pretty easy considering I usually reverted to bar soap anyway. OMG, this Every Man Jack spiced pepper bar soap I bought a ton of is AMAZING. I got a super good deal on it at Big Lots. Soulight, I recommend you get your bf a bar of that and let him go back to his old ways.

Oh, and Angela-- OMG I know! Rubbing alcohol on the face is a crime! I've stopped 2 brothers and a bf from using that. I turned them on to a gentle toner and they were very receptive.

I always recommend products to people, male or female. It may seem a bit mean-spirited when I point out the blackheads or the dry, scaly patches, but I have only good intentions at heart, that is to help them with their skin problems. And most likely because I, myself, have suffered the same problem at some point.

No, but sadly my best male friend likes to recommend products to me. He was metro before it became a word. Eye-wink

Yup. My face turned sensitive on me, so I gave my boyfriend my leftover AcneFree stuff. He realized that he didn't break out when he used it, and the last time we went to Costco, he wanted more! Our friends have even commented to me on the side just how much better looking his skin is. I recommended this stuff to him just after we moved in together last summer . . . and his skin is looking so good now!

actually I don't have to offer advice because my two brothers and a guy friend always ask! they know I know more than either of them, so it's just whenever they have a specific problem, but yeah they'll ask and do whatever I tell them...

I'm usually really big on the health and beauty gifting around the christmas holiday. For my boyfriend and my father i usually buy them skincare or shaving products. My fathers skin is a little oily and he somethings has a pimple here and there so i will usually pick up something from the Perricone line for him. As for my boyfriend, he really likes the DDF glycolic exfoliating wash. I tried to get him to use the zirh mens skincare line, but it did not work.

My boyfriend is such a manly man and would not buy anything but fashwash and exfoliating scrub himself.
I got him some Keihl products (toner, moisturizer, eye cream) and he loves them. I use some of their products as well.
He also likes my Bliss Salt Scrub.
It is hard for him to admit it though Smiling
