The French manicure has a regal connotation to it that represents class, elegance and a sense of high quality grooming. Having said that, plenty of people today feel that the French manicure is out of style and would even consider it cheesy. Whichever way you decide to go, I still think the French manicure is the quintessential way to paint your nails for your wedding day. It's soft, understated and shows that you pay attention to detail.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the French manicure, I have pictured it here for you. A white stripe is painted to the tops of the nails (I prefer a soft, square cut nail with a thin stripe) and then a sheer, pale pink or beige toned polish is applied on top. Here are a few French manicure kits to choose from.
Bourjois French Manicure Kit, $20, is a three piece French manicure kit. It includes a curved brush designed especially to create the most perfect and even white nail tips, a light pink polish which is so sheer that you can apply one or two coats depending on your taste, and a clear topcoat to ensure shine and protection to your manicure. In no time you'll look like you just waltzed right off the Parisian runways!

Sally Hansen French Manicure Kit, $6, includes a really cool feature. Inside are a set of stickers for you to apply to your nails so that you can create professional looking, no mess white tips. Once you apply the tips, peel off the stickers and then apply the soft colored nail polish on top. The kit also includes a topcoat and super clear and easy instructions.
Orly French Manicure Kit, $6, will give you a very natural looking manicure! This kit includes a polish, a base coat, white tips (you can choose from two different styles; straight or half moon) and a quick drying topcoat. Available in four different sheer shades.

So classy!
1It's timeless and classic.
2That has always been my favorite nail look. So clean and neat.
3Wow- I totally disagree. Whenever I see french manicure, all I can think is "porn star". I say nails should be short and subtle- a pale color or clear.
"Well, f*** me gently with a chainsaw."
4Hmm, Baltimore, I think theyd be more hookery if they are like 1 inch acrylics that resemble daggers more so than nails. But as pictured above, nicely trimmed, I think the french manicure is nice. The only problem is I have such a hard time giving myself one.
5I love french manicures... on shorter nails
6My friend's favourite! Not mine right now. But it's a great wedding style to use.
7I wore a solid sheer white for my wedding--It's in the Bag by Essie. I'm not a fan of the french manicure.
8I keep my nails short so this look I think is great but for longer nails I think a solid color would be best. Otherwise it looks too chunky.
9I love French manicures. But agree, keep it short! Or, you can go for the even more understated American manicure which uses a sheer white instead of an opaque like the French.
"Party like a rock star, pound like a porn star, play like an all star!"
10I've never been able to pull of the french manicure at home........maybe I will now!
11Looks REALLY elegant.
12cute cute. but...i've never had a manicure in my life. *GASP*
13My mom has done nails since I can remember, and I think french manicures are lovely, there's lot of variations of it nowadays, you can get the strip done in different colors, or with an appliqué. However those pictured above are the best idea.
14I still love this look,,, the only thing i find kinda funny is when the nails are longish and sooo square and thick. Wish i could do it for myself but maybe i dont have the patience and it always ends up going wrong~
15Frenche manicure is classy, but not on too long nails!!
16the nail kits look nice
17I agree, french on short nails is fantastic!
18I only do french mani for special occasions and a wedding is def. a special occasion
