I recall a makeup artist once telling me something like, "Once you get a client hooked on a foundation, they're yours forever." You know, I'm thinking she was right, because when it comes down to it — once you find your ultimate foundation, it's like you've hit the beauty jackpot.
For this week's Beauty Mark It challenge, I asked you to share your foundation choices on our ever-expanding Product Reviews page. The best part about reviewing? You could be entered for a chance to receive Bella's Ultimate Beauty Getaway! So, why not give it a try — a few days of beauty pampering in San Francisco is worth it.
As for the top three reviews for this challenge, check out my favorites below — and have some fun with your newly boosted point balance, too:
- duckiesandie reviewed Neutrogena Liquid Makeup ($8.29) — "I have been using the Neutrogena's Healthy Skin liquid makeup for probably over a year now. I live and die by this product. It's one of the best liquid foundations I've ever used. Honestly, I have the worst skin at times. I suffered from acne when I was a teen and I still have some acne scars. It was always hard to find a product that I could use to cover up but not look too cakey. This product is perfect. . . All in all, I'm going to keep using this foundation for as long as they'll keep making it. Definite 5 stars, no doubt."
- mrs sonshine reviewed Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation ($32) — "A wonderful product to have on hand for glamorous nights out. It provides full coverage but without looking "fake" or overly done. I find that most full coverage foundations make people appear older or more tired because the skin starts looking artificial. But Silk Creme Foundation provides the desired coverage, maintaining the dewy look Laura Mercier is so famous for. Apply with a foundation brush or sponge and follow up with a setting powder for best results!"
- coachluvr33 reviewed Revlon Colorstay For Normal/Dry Skin Makeup ($12.99) — "Nice foundation that stays on for a long time and looks very natural. This was my go-to for a while and then I switched things up and am trying different stuff now. I was perfectly happy with it. It isn't too heavy and is not heavy or cakey — nice."

I'd go with L'oreal's Trumatch foundations (I'm a Warm 7). Their's are among the handful few that offer shades with high yellow pigment.
1I'm (south)Asian and most foundations, even dark shades, have cool to neutral undertones that makes me look ashen, pink, artificial or all three!! Though Iman's got brown-skin friendly shades, nearly all are darker than my skin-tone.
I would love try these amazing department-store brands if only they stock my shade..
Any suggestions?
@ Bella Donna - Bobbi Brown's face makeup is all yellow-based, although the range isn't as nuanced as it could be. MAC has a massive selection of lighter and darker shades with warm, cool, and neutral undertones. And Make Up For Ever has a pretty big range. But TrueMatch is definitely the best drugstore brand for non-medium-light beige foundations.
2i actually use the revlon color stay in mocha and i really love it.
3I haven't found "my foundation" yet right now I'm trying Revlon's color stay
4I need to find a new foundation, I can never find one I'm in love with.
5revlon's color stay for combination skin has been my godsend.
it has the full covereage of dept. store make up, but feels like you're not wearing any, and it doesn't rub off on clothes.
which is what my estee lauder foundation and mac foundation [worst foundation ever btw is MAC for me anyways] use to do.
6I am using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Cream Foundation right now and although I tend to stray, I come back to this one all the time. It gives me such a lovely glow and I would compare it to chanel's vitalumiere and at a fraction of the price. Also no perfume here, like those yucky fragrances that Chanel tends to use.
7I also tried the Revlon Colorstayline and I was quite happy with it. The Neutrogena was not bad either.
Clinique's Superfit foundations are good. They seem to adjust to your skin color
8I really like the one from Mary Kay,
9they blend pretty good.
Bella Donna - have you tried the color matching at Prescriptives? It's a bit expensive, but after trying many different brands I finally got foundation that matches my skin perfectly. You can not tell I have makeup on at all. They can also make you custom concealer and powder. I highly recommend it if you don't fall into the narrow range of drug store colors.
10Thanks a lot for the helpful comments
11I'll give Prescriptives and MAC a try..
Thankfully, the isotretinoin has worked its magic on my facial acne (and bacne + ass-ne!), and the post-inflammatory-hyperperpig's getting better too.. so hopefully freedom from foundation's just around the corner
