Heidi Klum will be the latest addition to the long list of celebrities who have appeared in the wildly popular "Got Milk?" ad campaign, Vogue UK reports. The German model and Project Runway host will be featured wearing a customary Bavarian maid outfit, alongside a milking cow — just in time for Halloween.

All this talk about this healthy, white drink got me thinking, just what is it about milk that does a body good, in terms of beauty, of course? According to the California Milk Processor Board, people have been using milk for beauty purposes for hundreds of years. In fact, Bella favorite, Cleopatra, used to bathe in milk for radiantly smooth skin. To check out some more milk beauty benefits, keep reading.
Milk has . . .
- Proteins, lipids, vitamin A, B6, calcium, biotin, and potassium to make hair soft and shiny. Drink away.
- Alpha hydroxy acids and lactic acid that, when applied to the skin, help to exfoliate. Psst — this also translates to antiaging benefits, too.
- Anti-inflammatory properties to help calm red or irritated skin, making it especially great for babies or those with sensitive skin. Have a sunburn? Try a cold compress of whole milk to soothe.
- Moisturizing properties. Fat and proteins (whey and casein) help rejuvenate dry skin. Try Skin Milk Body Lotion ($6.49).
- The ability to close the hair's cuticle, providing loads of shine — Carol's Daughter Hair Milk ($12).
- Calcium, which helps to strengthen nails.

Gorgeous
Also it contributes to acne and weight gain.... hawt.
1Hemp milk is better.
2I'm glad someone did some research on the benefits of milk in terms of beauty. I've been drinking milk and pouring tons of it into my cereal since I could chew. It's probably no wonder I haven't broken a bone yet considering how clumsy I am!
My nails still seem weak considering how much dairy I intake on a daily basis.
Thanks for the post!
3does drinking milk provide for you hair? or should i make a conditioner with it?
4Imuran--just drinking milk provides for your hair and nails, believe it or not. I wouldn't want it in my hair because the smell of dried or spoiled milk is not peaches and cream (it smells quite awful).
5Thanks, Ellenora! There are some fabulous smelling shampoos and conditioners with milk ingredients, as well, so you don't have to stink of spoiled milk all day. I mentioned one in the post, but there are many brands out there.
6heidi's in my cooking light! had to look twice to make sure it was her, kinda looked like uh... felicity girl? waitress girl? what's her name!
7Ah, but milk also makes me feel queasy. So I don't drink it, and get my calcium from other sources.
8I drink soy milk since milk upsets my stomach. I can have other dairy products just limited amounts. I have found anytime I snack on too much cheese, my skin freaks out. Soy milk has been a blessing.
9Thanks so much for posting this!
10I'm *really* tired of this "milk is bad for you" garbage. Agro-business is bad for everyone; but I still think the benefits out weight the "risks" by far.
I'll stick to my organic whole milk
Milk is awesome!
11If only I wasn't so lactose-intolerant. I do love a glass of milk.
12I love milk. Always have. But it has to be 1%!
13I'll have a pint of milk. In chocolate, please...
14Keri Russel! I love her - anyhoo, I love milk, always have because my parents always made my brothers and I drink it when we were kids (breakfast, luch, and dinner), so I'm used to drinking it all the time - and it really does do so much! I love Heid, but I get tired of these stereotypical and kind of offensive images and ideas of what is sexy - come on, the Swedish milk maid?! that is so overused and kind of dumb...
15this is good and all, but what about we of the lactose intolerant persuasion??
16i actually saw heidi in her bavarian outfit and it was an interesting look. to be honest, i'm not always sure that i understand the methodology behind who they choose to be in the campaign, but i guess it's about time that she gets her chance
17wait do you mean it makes acne worse or helps it? im so confused.
18for what the the person up the top said i mean (:
