My trip to Belize was amazing on so many levels, especially because I got to hang out with adorable animals like this Aztec parakeet. Since it was the low season, I managed to score a good price at a swanky hotel in San Ignacio. When I checked in, I was offered a glass of rum punch. (Yes, please.) And my room was gorgeous — huge, pristine, luxe. Right away, I hopped in the shower, where I smiled at the sweetly coconut-scented shampoo in the wall dispenser. It left my hair clean and smelling fresh, so I figured it was some sort of spendy spa formula.

And then, a snag. Turns out I'd been given one of the more expensive rooms by accident, so to get the lower rate, I had to move to a smaller, simpler room overlooking a parking lot instead of the jungle. No big deal. But instead of a posh wall dispenser for shampoo, the bathroom simply had a bottle out for guests' use. Lo and behold, the "spa formula" I'd imagined was none other than Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut shampoo ($2.49). It isn't moisturizing enough to use every day without conditioner, but the scent and cleaning power are great — and with all the money I'll save using a drugstore standby, saving up for another trip to Central America won't take long at all.

I've used this one before and it smells delish! I absolutely love it. Suave actually has some real good stuff, for cheap!
1Really?!
I've never tried Suave shampoo/conditioner before, I always just assumed that it wouldn't be that great. Maybe I'll try it now...I'm obsessed with all things coconut!
2Yeah, it smells great! I didn't try conditioner (there was only shampoo) but like I said, you'd be best off using a conditioner to keep your hair from drying out. But it cleaned my hair well, didn't leave any residue, and made lathering lots of fun. Color me surprised.
3The Suave coconut body lotion smells divine too and of course is super cheap!
4Fun! I went to Belize on my honeymoon in June!
5The most awesome thing from Suave is their Professionals Humectant line. It's also coconut scented. It's so cheap and I swear it works as well as salon products. I was so mad when I went home for a visit to my parents house and saw my mom bought me Suave conditioner (spoiled, I know) but then I tried it out and absolutely loved it.
6suave is a great brand.
7psterling, where did you go? I was in Cayo the whole time. Beautiful.
8I used to buy really expensive salon shampoos/ conditions (Bedhead! love it!) but it didn't make enough of a difference to justify that it cost 8 times as much as drugstore shampoos.
Garnier fructise (sp) works well -- will have to try suave!
9The suave coconut conditioner works pretty darn well, however they test on animals.
10My mom loves this stuff. Ahles, thanks for mentioning that they test on animals--I didn't know that. :-/
11I have the conditioner and love that smell!
12I only use the Coconut conditioner. I feel using the pair is too overpowering.
13I just used this and I can't agree more. Fabulous sudsing but conditioner is a must.
14Ohh I LOVE this shampoo and scent!
15Boo to animal tested products. BOO.
I have huge issues when I use shampoos with lots of sulfates...instant dandruff. And it's not little flecks, it's big old flakes. So I have to be picky...shame I haven't found an Aveda shampoo that's coconut scented!
