If you want to look truly outrageous this Halloween, we've got some great tips from MAC makeup artists Louise Zizzo and Sarah Dean, who transformed us into a glam-rock version of the '80s cartoon. Check out this video for tips on how to achieve this look, along with specific color suggestions from Zizzo and Dean when you read more.
Complexion:
- Start off with a matte foundation in a shade lighter than you'd normally wear for a cartoonish effect. Dean used Studio Fix Foundation in NC15 ($26). Blend well around the neck. When finished with entire makeup, set with Blot Powder ($21).
Eyes:
- Outline — Zizzo used a Brow Finisher pencil ($15) to create the triangular shape outlining the eye area.
- Fill in — Using a vibrant pink shade, Zizzo applied Chromacake in Pink Vivid inside the lines. If you are unable to locate this professional product, try alternative pink shades — Sushi Flower Eyeshadow ($14.50) or Powder Blush in Fleur Power ($18).
Lips:
- Use a concealer to tone down the natural lip color. Apply a bold shade of pink like Lipstick in Pink Nouveau ($14).

Um actually I think CCee did a much better job.
1Yes she did.
2I loved Jem when I was younger!
3JEM! It brings back great memories....
4I agree, CCee's is better!

I think both Louise and CCee did great jobs! Some harsh words today!
6Bella, I don't think anyone was being harsh.
At least, speaking for myself, that
wasn't what I intended....
7Thank you 356UIK & bellaressa!!
8This is a complete look and I only did the eye.
9I was suprised to see it but it's fun to see the video.
You're welcome!
Awww...I'm sorry, I didnt mean it in a harsh way either towards the MAC make up artists, I was just tryin to send some love towards CCee's way 'cause I just recently discovered how talented she is.
Maybe MAC should hire her, and they can rule the make up world together!
10This is an awesome idea for a Halloween costume! I was a huge JEM and the Holograms fan when I was a kid! I've got this year's Halloween costume already, but maybe for next year. Thank you Bella!!!
11It's truly outrageous!
12Play nice guys!
13This is a neat vid..
I agree, I prefer CCee's colors.. but they are both awesome.
14I like that idea, 356UIK — both Louise and CCee are tremendously talented with makeup application!
15
You're making me blush again!
16as soon as I saw this post, I came in here to post a link to cc's as well....so cool!
17CCee's tutorial that she did for my Halloween costume (Jem) is amazing. Better than this, in my opinion, and I am planning on using her tutorial, step-by-step.
Thanks again, CCee!!!!!!
18And, emalove, you are going to post photos, right? I'm dying to see how cute you look once you are all done up!
19Yes, I'm going to, MartiniLush! I can't wait to try out CCee's look.
20both great works!
the only difference is the color, one have pale pink, and the other a dark pink, that's all I saw different, the idea is the same... still not try in it, sorry.
21I got a chance to see the final product, which looked amazing, so it was really fun to watch the application. I almost spit up my water while watching the Jem transition in the beginning. Hilarious!
22Ooo that was AMAZING Bella! I was Jem last year and I should have paid MUCH more attention to my make-up! I ended up spraying about four cans of pink hairspray in my hair and was so nauseous that I skimped on the most important part — the eyes!
Thanks for the wonderful how-to!
23Love it — and thanks for the eyelash application reminder.
24What a 'Truly Outrageous!' feature! Fans are always asking us if we know of any great tutorials on 'How To' do JEM's makeup and your video guide is just perfect!
Thank you so much for uploading this incredible feature!
Stay Outrageous!

25Jem's boyfriend was a two-timer.
26You know if I had seen the Mac tutorial first I would've thought it was awesome, but I saw CCee's last week and I was blown away! i think she nailed the colour and density of the pink.
27You guys are too sweet. Thanks for all the compliments!
28I liked seeing the video of another view.
I had never heard of Jem before, but it looks like she is popular there, with two post of how to do her make-up in one week!
29You look fabulous! how fun!!
30That is a fun idea for a Halloween costume!
31Jem was my favorite show growing up! I would love to be her for halloween.
32NO. The hair is too PINK and flat. Jem's hair is clearly big spiky, choppy 80's hair, and it's a much softer baby pink than that!
33Wow, with all the interest in Jem, you should have everyone post their Jem Halloween costume looks as a feature, Bella!
34My best friend and I were Jem and Kimber back in 2004 but we decided to follow the doll's make up rather than the cartoon. Either way, Billyart is correct in that the hair is actually a softer pink. It's a harder wig to find, but worth it! I stumbled upon mine at a Rite Aid.
35Thanks for giving Kimber a shout out, PLT! She is one of the most truly outrageous girls on the show!
36I dressed up as Jem a couple years ago, I will have to dig out my photos
Personally,
I think both looks need MORE GLITTER!! lol or at least some shimmer on that eye make-up!
37This video is great! It looked amazing in person so I love getting to watch how it was done.
38I love it! Truly Outrageous!
39Great job in outlining the eye make up first, many dont think about that and just dive in. i think, on top of what was done, you could have really gotten some more *Jem* feeling, with the sparkle and shine that Mac's loose pigments have to offer.
