I love the overacting in this commercial for My Sweet 16 cosmetics. The girl in it is so clearly trying to be enthusiastic for the camera, showing off the blue lipstick — oops, wait, that's eye shadow! — and putting pressure on herself to look like big sis and friends. ("I have to look as pretty as they do!") In reality, anyone at my actual sweet 16 would have been subjected to Manic Panic hair dye, volcanic acne, and baggy skateboarding t-shirts.

1At 16 I would have just used the eye shadow as lipgloss. It would really compliment the purple Doc Martens I wore every day.
2OMG! I remember this stuff. LOL at mom's big perm.
3haha, Bella I can so relate to your description of your sweet 16 party. I was not into the "pretty" thing. I had pink hair, wore lots of black eyeliner, and wore shirts exclusively from Pac Sun featuring only skateboard or snowboard brands.
4I think I was in this phase back then. Although 8th grade I wore a lot of flannel shirts tied around my waste. ha.
5Lol, I so remember this commercial, and that "It's fun to play with my Sweet 16" jingle!
6I always thought at 16 this stuff was like for 12-year olds that wanted to FEEL 16, no way would I be caught dead with this stuff at 16, I think around that time I was wearing mostly ..uh what was it called...Ultima II. That was my "high school" brand.
7What a gimmick. I wore converse, rock band tees and lashings of black liner at 16... =P
And if my sis turned up like that, I would deny *any* knowledge of her existence!
8wOw!!! everything came in a lipstick, eyeshadow,
9blush, perfume; when i was little i used all
of these for drawing in my mirror, i love it
but not my mom, LOL!!!
I didn't wear much makeup when I was 16...I turned 16 in 1993, in the height of the grunge era, so most of the girls in my class weren't too girly-girl. I think I only wore mascara and lipstick. I miss my perfect skin/complexion of those days though!
10funny how they have to reassure you that its "safe and washable"
11I remember that commercial. That jingle is just so catchy!
12Hahahaha I had that makeup! Wow
13Sad thing is? I am still in that high school bad makeup thing. Though I think I avoid that for the most part....
14so dramatic! funny though
