Does anyone else remember Baby Dolly Surprise? It had slipped my mind, but running across this old commercial brought back memories of wanting the doll. You could make her hair "grow" and retract by yanking on her arm. "That's ridiculous," my mom said to me whenever I'd point it out. (She was right; a friend's BDS was pure junk.) If you have 30 seconds to kill, check out this old spot — and see if you can pick out a certain Hollywood actress in her youth.

Kiki Dunst, is that you!
1Haha, I remember this, and I wanted one but only so that I could cut her hair. Then I realized there probably wasn't an endless supply of hair that would grow, but then the Play-doh people came out with something similar (but with Play-doh), so it was all good.
I remember this too LOL!
2Hahaha... I had that doll! I probably still do somewhere...
3I had that doll too!
4hahaha my sister totally had one of those!
5In the late 60's we had Beautiful Tressy or Beautiful Chrissy, you'd press in the belly button and pull on the pony tail and the hair grew. To make it short again, there was a little wheel on her back that you turned and it went back inside. Worked great and it still does... I still have my red-haired Chrissy doll, and my daughter played with it! (In her original dress no less!)
6Oh yes, Kirsten is VERY recognizable!!!
I do remember this doll too, but I never wanted one.
7i love the ethnic dolls hair....
8I had one! But i cut her hair, which kind of defeated the purpose... oops.
9My sister had a doll similar to this but smaller, and she had a butterfly in her hair. These dolls remind me of another one I used to have called Lil Miss Makeup!
10That doll was not ridiculous- it was fabulous! I spent hours playing with it. Of course, I grew up to be a hairstylist and own a beauty salon...
11I always wanted one but never got it! When I would visit with family who did, I'd play with it for HOURS! Awesome doll.
12I had one with red hair, freckles, and a green butterfly in her hair. lol I loved it! I remember begging my mom for one. FlamesofJune - I had Lil Miss Makeup too!!!
13Oh my gosh!! Wow this brings back memories. And Kirsten, how funny! I remember this doll, but don't recall actually wanting it.
14WOW, that did bring back memories. That doll was ridiculously creepy. Ok, so which doll was the one where with cold water you could "apply" makeup?
PS: Kirsten looked cute!!!
15Tiabia, that was Lil Miss Makeup:

Kirsten Dunst, right? Also, Baby Dolly Surprise sure has a bizarre hairdo.
17Never would have guessed Kiki.
18Really? No one is talking about Kiki's AWESOME perm??
191. Poor Kiki in her giant purple dress... but her hair is awful cute
202. I had Lil Miss Dressup - where you could draw on her clothes and hair with cold water. She stopped working after a while though.
That was Kirsten Dunst?
21I had like 3 of these dolls!! A blonde, a brunette, and a black doll..who wore like lime green overalls, if i remember correctly.
