How-To: A Fresh-Faced Holiday Look

My friend Sabs, the community guru of OnSugar, recently had a wedding banquet. She usually doesn't wear makeup, so she wanted a look that would photograph well and play up her natural beauty while letting her still feel like herself. Mission accomplished. She looked classic yet fresh — just right for a wedding or a holiday party.

Weeks before the banquet, Sabrina and I played around with different looks before settling on this one. She did her own makeup, so to find out how to recreate it at home, read more.

  • Face: Sabrina usually doesn't wear foundation, but she decided to splurge on one for the big day. Shu Uemura Face Architect foundation ($42) in 764 was a perfect choice because it evened out her skin tone while still letting her cute freckles show through. She brushed Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Mosaic Blush ($18) in Afterglow on the apples of her cheek before lightly dotting Benefit Miss Popularity ($24) down the bridge of her nose.
  • Eyes: Sabs started by using Bare Escentuals Prime Time eyelid primer ($16), which helps keep eye shadow in place. She used Mark i-mark eye shadow ($4 each) in Whisper (a pale, cool beige) from her lash line to brow line, and Glitterati (a shimmery silver) near the inner corner of her eyes. A touch of Revlon eye shadow in Sterling Rose gave a bit of color to the edges of her eyes. Finally, she used a MAC 266 brush to line her top lashes with Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in Black Mauve Shimmer Ink ($21) — it's a bit softer than black liner — and brushed on a few coats of Philosophy The Supernatural mascara, which she cannot stop raving about. (It was temporarily discontinued, but it'll be back soon.)
  • Lips: A coat of Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips in Amber, a soft peach shade, is all you need!

Angela, definately get the gloss - it is my favorite one! Sabs, didn't you just fall in love with it when you put it on? And Amber is such a light, beautiful shade!

    Very pretty!

Oh, and I'm so obsessed with BE Prime Time! It's the best primer I've ever tried. And the BE Buxom Lip Gloss is by far one of the best glosses out there too...I love the Dolly shade. Maybe I'll get Amber next.

Sabrina you look fabulous. I don't like a ton of makeup either- i love natural, almost-but-not-completely minimalistic look.
